Emphasizes applications and includes U.S. customary units of measure. Credit for this course can be achieved by completing the appropriate MTT course. Credit is not applicable toward graduation. MTE 2: Operations with Decimals and Percents MTE 3: Algebra Basics MTE 4: First Degree Equations and Prerequisite: BSK 1 or qualifying placement score 1 credit Includes operations and problem solving with positive decimals and percents. Emphasizes applications and includes U.S. customary and metric units of measure. Credit for this course can be achieved by completing the appropriate MTT course. Credit is not applicable toward graduation. Students will also learn techniques to factor polynomials and use these techniques to solve polynomial equations. Emphasis should be on learning all of the different factoring methods, and solving application problems using polynomial equations. All student learning outcomes for this unit must be completed without the use of a calculator. Emphasis should be placed on applications throughout the unit. A student must complete the homework assignments and review with 90% accuracy. In order to pass the unit a student must pass the final exam with a minimum score of 75%.
