1 Syllabus Course Description: Algebra II is a two semester course. Students completing this course will earn 1.0 unit upon completion. Required Materials: 1. Student Text Glencoe Algebra 2: Integration, Applications & Connections, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.; ISBN# sharpened #2 pencils with erasers 3. lined notebook paper 4. graph paper 5. 3-ring binder with dividers 6. scientific calculator Classwork and Assessments: Grading Scale: For each lesson, the student will read the lesson and complete problems from the text. After the student has successfully completed the reading assignment and the problems, the student will take the Performance Opportunity Quiz (Online). After all of the quizzes have been taken for a chapter, the student will take a Chapter Test (Online). There will be 4 quarterly exams (each is cumulative and covers all chapters during that quarter). After all quizzes, chapter tests, and quarterly exams for the course have been completed, the student s grades will be averaged to determine the final grade. 94 to 100 % A 85 to 93 % B 75 to 84 % C 70 to 75 % D Below 70 % F 1
2 Keys for successfully completing Algebra II: Pay special attention to the terms in bold type and to the examples shown in each lesson. You may need to reference the examples in order to complete your assignments thoroughly. Take your time. Concentrate on understanding one lesson at a time. Make sure you study the problems in the lessons and understand them before you take the quizzes. Be sure to copy all problems from the textbook onto lined notebook paper and to show all the steps used to reach your solutions. Circle your final answers! The odd answers are located in the back of your textbook in the section bordered in green and labeled Selected Answers. It would be wise to check your understanding of the problems in each lesson in the textbook by checking your solutions with the selected answers in the back of the textbook. 2
