1 Freightview is an online freight management software that redefines small and medium-sized businesses relationship with shipping by streamlining quoting, booking, tracking and reporting. Employees ship freight in a fraction of the time, and managers gain control and visibility of shipping operations. Freightview was developed in 2013 as a project of Freightquote, an online transportation broker. It launched to the public in April 2014 and spun off as a separate company that September. In January 2015, Freightview was acquired by global third party logistics provider C.H. Robinson as part of a joint acquisition with Freightquote for $365 million. 3 What is Freightview? Freightview is simple, affordable online freight management software for small and mediumsized businesses. Freightview brings to freight booking what Expedia does to travel, but with an additional layer of customization that allows shippers to compare their negotiated rates side-by-side on a single screen. Who developed Freightview, and why? Co-founder Jason Roberts recognized an untapped market of freight management needs in small and medium- sized businesses that ship freight on a daily basis but don t want to outsource their shipping operations to a single service provider. He developed Freightview as a project inside Freightquote, a freight broker based in Kansas City, Missouri. Why did C.H. Robinson purchase Freightview? Freightview s target market of small and medium-sized businesses complements C.H. Robinson s traditional focus on large enterprise customers. How does Freightview operate within C.H. Robinson? Freightview is part of C.H. Robinson s Managed Services division along with TMC, which offers fee-based technology and consulting services to large, complex shippers. The two brands operate separately and independently from C.H. Robinson s brokerage businesses. What are Freightview s growth plans? Freightview plans to aggressively grow its subscription base by the end of 2016, while maintaining its commitment to customer satisfaction and high customer retention rate. How much money does Freightview make? Freightview makes money through the monthly, recurring subscription-based fee of $99 per location per month. The technology enables a fixed-cost business model, so Freightview can add more customers without increasing its head count. What kind of companies use Freightview? Freightview is designed for small and medium-sized businesses in the United States that use multiple carriers and/or brokers and ship 5 to 25 less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments per day per location. Revenues generally range from $20 to $100 million, and the firms span virtually every region and sector. 4 Does Freightview funnel freight to C.H. Robinson s brokerage business? No. The shipper alone decides which service providers they add to their Freightview dashboard. In order to see their carrier rates, the shipper must have previously established an account with a carrier or broker and connected it to Freightview. If the customer chooses to add C.H Robinson, those rates are displayed within Freightview just like any other service provider. Freightview makes money from subscription fees, not from shipments moved by C.H. Robinson s brokerage businesses. Can C.H. Robinson access other carriers rates through Freightview? No. All rate information captured in Freightview is private and secure. Freightview never shares rates with C.H. Robinson, Freightquote or anyone else. Why wouldn t Freightview s customers just outsource to a 3PL? Many customers want to maintain their direct carrier relationships. Shippers who use Freightview keep their direct carrier relationships but can also compare shipment cost, transit time, and service level without having to repeatedly log into multiple carrier websites. How does Freightview help the bottom line? Freightview helps businesses save time and money. The software increases employee productivity by reducing time spent on shipping activities, and arming them with the data needed to negotiate better rates, ensure accountability, and uncover additional savings. How does Freightview benefit carriers? Every time a shipper has freight to move, the carrier s brand and pricing shows up prominently on Freightview. The carrier is never left out because a customer forgets to check their website. And unlike traditional transportation management systems, rates in Freightview are always up to date and controlled in the carrier's system. How soon can a shipper begin using Freightview? Through an intuitive three-step startup process, Freightview allows a shipper to be completely set up in 24 to 48 hours. How many carriers are currently supported in Freightview? What percentage of the market is that? Freightview supports more than 50 LTL carriers, including each of the top 25, and is adding regional LTL carriers to its software daily. 2

5 What if a carrier isn t connected to Freightview? Freightview supports connectivity to nearly all North American LTL carriers and can integrate with those who have Application Programming Interface (API) or online web rating. How are customer rates provided to Freightview? Freightview connects directly to the customer s negotiated rates through the carrier and brokers API. The customer s rates on the carrier s website will match what is displayed in Freightview. Can customers see each other s rates? No. Freightview never shares a customer s shipping rate with anyone else. Is Freightview available online? What about mobile? Can I get it on my ipad? Yes. Freightview is cloud-based application. Therefore, you can access it online, on your phone or on your ipad. Customers also have access to Freightview s API and plugins to integrate freight rating, booking and tracking into their website and applications. Freightview is also available on Chrome app. How much does Freightview cost? Freightview offers a no-risk, 30-day free trial and a monthly fee of $99 per location. Who are Freightview s competitors? Pivot Freight, Freight Grid, eshipping Exchange, and FR8Nex are competitors. Freightview was the first to market, and is the only software of its kind backed by a Fortune 250 company. 3

6 Jason Roberts is the co-founder of Freightview. Roberts was a trailblazer in the development and expansion of Freightview, and led the technology start-up through its spinoff from online transportation broker Freightquote, during its $365 million acquisition by Eden Prairie-based 3PL powerhouse C.H. Robinson in January Roberts maintains an unwavering passion for identifying industry inefficiencies and responding with fresh, innovative thinking and solutions. As head of product development at Freightquote, he recognized an untapped market of freight management needs and developed Freightview, the first-to-market software solution for small businesses that shipped significant amounts of freight on a daily basis but did not want to outsource their shipping operations to a third-party logistics provider (3PL) and lose their direct carrier relationships. An expert in business process improvement and user experience, Roberts rolled out a new platform for sales and operations that helped grow Freightquote s full-truckload business by 33 percent, and established a project management team responsible for acquiring more than 350 customers, including Honda, Cargill and Nieman Marcus. Prior to joining Freightquote in 2004, Roberts held product development and management positions at Meridian IQ and Transportation.com. He began his career as a programmer analyst at Yellow Freight (now YRC). Roberts earned his Master of Business Administration with distinction from Keller Graduate School of Management and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from DeVry Institute of Technology. He is a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute. 1

7 Megan Orth is finance and marketing chief for Freightview. A dynamic, multi-faceted task master, Orth oversaw accounting, budget and forecasting and all other non-product departments during Freightview s spinoff from online transportation broker Freightquote and their impressive joint acquisition by 3PL giant C.H. Robinson for $365 million in January Her sustained leadership and counsel has continued to propel Freightview through unchartered territory as an industry pioneer. Orth was previously director of internal control for Freightquote. She began her career at KPMG, LLC, where she held positions ranging from associate to manager. Orth has more than 10 years of accounting experience in transportation, software as a service and utilities that include SEC Registrants. Orth received her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Missouri and Kansas. 2
