1 Wildlife Information and Education Specialist Trainee The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has employees located across the state. Some of the locations are in sparsely populated areas where recruiting candidates with the required years of experience may be more difficult. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is requesting that a trainee progression be established to assist with recruitment efforts. This progression will allow the department to recruit graduates with the required educational background while providing them with the necessary training to become a Wildlife Information and Education Specialist I. The following trainee progression is being recommended. 2 Statewide Education & Experience Study Project Synopsis The Classification and Compensation Division (C&C) has undertaken a study of minimum education and experience requirements for all classifications statewide. It is expected that 3500 job titles will be reviewed. The purposes of this study are to: (1) standardize Education & Experience wording so that it is consistent from class to class (2) assure that similar classes have similar Education & Experience requirements (3) update outmoded or overly-stringent Education & Experience requirements as needed (4) establish trainee progressions as needed In the vast majority of cases, it is expected that the wording of Education & Experience requirements will change slightly but the requirements themselves will remain the same. In the first phase of the review, the C&C Division abolished a long list of obsolete classes in order to focus the efforts of the study on only those classes that are considered active. Agency HR representatives were also asked to submit lists of classes that were considered to be priorities for Education & Experience review and updates. This first round of Education & Experience changes are considered to be priority situations by the agencies. The next round of Education & Experience changes will continue to focus on agency priorities and classifications related to these priorities. C&C Division staff will also be focusing on bringing consistency between Education & Experience for salary graded classifications and equivalent career-banded classifications (as applicable). Remaining classifications will then be reviewed by job family until the study is complete.
