8 Startups and Venture Capital: Diversity in the Spotlight Women and minority entrepreneurship and employment in the tech industry don t reflect the diversity of the U.S. Only 15 percent of venture capital-funded companies have a woman on the executive team. Companies with a woman CEO receive only 3 percent of total venture capital dollars. Fewer than 1 percent of Silicon Valley founders are African American or Latino.
