To register for jobs, you only need to bring along the original and photocopy of the following documents: Macao Resident Identity Card Certificate of highest education achieved Driving license (applicable to driver jobs) and register during registration hours (Monday to Thursday: 09:00-13:00 and 14:30-17:45; Friday: 09:00-13:00 and 14:30-17:30) at the Employment Promotion Division of Employment Department, Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), located at Edifício Advance Plaza, 221 to 279 Avenida do Dr. Francisco Vieira Machado, Macao; or at the Citizen Services Centres (Centros de Prestação de Serviços ao Público) in different districts. The service mentioned above is free of charge. 2. Can I ask someone to bring my documents and register for me? Job-seekers should bring along the original and photocopy of all required documents and register in person at the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department. 3. As I need to work, I cannot go to DSAL to register for jobs during the registration hours. Is there any other way to register? Job-seekers may register at the Citizen Services Centres (Centros de Prestação de Serviços ao Público) in different districts from 09:00 to 18:00 (open during lunch time) on Monday to Friday. The job referral service we offer is designed for citizens holding a Macao Resident Identity Card issued by the MSAR Government. 2 5. I have already registered for jobs. How can I update the post I am looking for and my required salary? Please call to change your requirements during office hours or visit the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department in person. 6. How long is the employment registration valid for? Employment registration is valid for three months. If you still want to find a job through DSAL after the registration expires, you may call or visit the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department to renew the registration for another three months within one month after the registration expires. Each registration can be renewed once only. 7. I have no job. Can I register as unemployed at DSAL? The service provided to Macao residents by the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department is an employment registration instead of unemployment registration. Therefore, persons who are looking for jobs, unemployed or in search of a new job can all register with DSAL to look for jobs. In addition, when citizens apply for allowance or assistance, some institutions may ask them to submit a registration document issued by DSAL. Likewise, this registration is an employment registration instead of an unemployment registration. 8. Will my personal data be made public? Data uploaded on DSAL s website are those needed for job-matching purpose only, such as education level, skills, post you are looking for, work experience (without showing name of company) and required salary. Personal data like your name, address and telephone number, etc. will not be shown. 9. I want to be a civil servant. All I need to do is to register at DSAL? The Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department aims to help Macao residents to find jobs in local enterprises. I have made my registration at DSAL for a long time but received no call for interview, why? DSAL will match the job-seekers in database with suitable job openings according to the recruitment requirements like education level, skills, work experience and salary offered filled in by the company. Then, a brief profile of selected candidates will be sent to the employer to shortlist for interview. Job-seekers having registered for a long time but received no call for interview should check if their requirements are commensurate with market level. For instance, is

What should I do if I am interested in the posts? Job-seekers may visit the page titled Vacancy information for job-seekers at www3.dsal.gov.mo/job/jobtype.jsp on DSAL s website for information you need. Such information is also displayed on the LCD screens and notice boards at the registration hall of the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department. Job-seekers can also use the self-service facilities to search for active vacancies on DSAL s website. If job-seekers are interested in a vacancy, they may use the self-service facilities to contact the employer directly or request staff of Employment Promotion Division to refer them to the respective post. 12. I have hearing problems. Can I ask my family member or organization to renew my registration by phone? Yes. Family member or association of hearing impaired persons may call the Employment Promotion Division of DSAL to renew the registration for them. When necessary, job-seekers with other disabilities (e.g. speech impaired) may also have it done by people mentioned above.

4 On-line Job-seeking Information 1. What should I do if I find a suitable vacancy on DSAL s website? You may contact the employer directly if contact information (e.g. telephone number or address) is shown; However, if there is no contact information of company, you may click Select Vacancy, then View Selected Vacancy to choose the vacancy you are interested in and input the number of your Macao Resident Identity Card. Finally, press Contact Us (only applicable to job-seekers with an active registration). After receiving your message, we will refer you to the employer according to your personal details and call you for an interview after we hear from the employer. 2. I did not register with DSAL. Can I use this website to look for a job? You may contact the employer directly if the contact information is shown. However, if there is no contact information of your interested vacancy, you should first register for employment in person at the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department or the Citizen Services Centres in different districts. Then, you may use the online job-seeking service. 3. I have sent the information of my interested vacancies to DSAL through the webpage. When will I hear a reply? We will start the referral procedures right after receiving your job-seeking message. However, the employer may need to select and work out a shortlist for interview after receiving your information. We will have to wait until the employer contacts us to arrange an interview. Then, we will contact you. For enquiries regarding referrals, please call or visit the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department. 4. The vacancy is marked as Application for non-resident worker. Does it mean that the vacancy is for non-resident workers only? The Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department aims to assist Macao residents to find jobs. Macao residents meeting the recruitment requirements stated are welcome to apply. If the vacancy is marked as Application for non-resident worker, it means that the company has an intention to hire non-resident worker but is trying to recruit worker in local labour market.

5 Recruitment Information 1. We are a Hong Kong company planning to open a branch and recruit workers in Macao. Can we ask DSAL to refer Macao residents to us? If yes, is the service free of charge? Any company wishing to use DSAL s job referral service should have finished business registration, set up an office in Macao, and provide us with the name and telephone number of a contact person. Companies fulfilling the abovementioned requirements may contact the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department to register for recruitment. The registration is simple and free. DSAL will try to find suitable job-seekers in our database according to the requirements like education level, skills, work experience and salary offered filled in by the company. Then, a brief profile of job-seekers will be sent to the employer for selection. On the other hand, employers may visit the Employer Recruitment page at www3.dsal.gov.mo/job/emptype.jsp to select suitable job-seekers according to their required salary and other requirements. Please click Select Job-Seeker, then View Selected Job-Seekers to confirm and choose suitable job-seekers on the list and fill in the recruitment registration number of your company. Finally, click Contact Us. After receiving the recruitment message from your company, we will check the details of relevant job-seekers and discuss referral arrangements with you as soon as possible. 3. No suitable worker is recruited before the expiry date of recruitment registration. Can we renew our registration? A recruitment registration is valid for one month and it is non-renewable. If you want to use the recruitment service of DSAL after the registration expires, please register again. The reason is that, employers who have made recruitment registration at DSAL but failed to recruit suitable workers within one month should reconsider whether the recruitment package is commensurate with market level. 4. We have registered a few times but couldn t find a suitable worker, why? In a free labour market, whether a referral will result in success or not largely depends on employer s and employee s acceptance of each other s requirements and their final decision. Therefore, when companies find it difficult to hire suitable workers under current requirements, we suggest that companies should have a look at the qualifications and requirements of job-seekers in our database, and make appropriate adjustments to the requirements and salary offered to achieve

6 better effect. To make an adjustment, employer can simply fill in the reply slip of an active vacancy, and fax to the Employment Promotion Division under DSAL s Employment Department. 5. Our company plans to register for recruitment at DSAL. We have already downloaded the recruitment form. Can we use one form for all posts we plan to recruit? Since requirements and salaries of different positions vary, one recruitment form should be used for one position only. If there are three positions, e.g. clerk, cleaning worker and accounting clerk, please fill in three recruitment forms.
