Cooperating teachers and university supervisors can review and verify students logs and provide feedback on students performances. Student account creation is based on data feed from the university SIS. College admins can set up accounts for cooperating teachers and assign students to respective cooperating teachers. College admins can also query the database with varied filters to generate related reports and statistics, all accomplished through Haomin Wang Page 2 of 6

3 web user interfaces. The portal is built using ASP.NET and MS SQL Server, 2009-present. Chief architect of a Student Retention Early Alert system which is a web portal that allows instructors to alert support staff to students having academic or behavioral difficulties. Instructors, advisors and student services can follow up on the referrals by logging remedial actions taken and reporting outcomes observed. The portal has a data feed from the university SIS to keep student enrollment data updated. Staff can query the data by referrals, actions, and outcomes, and generate reports accordingly. The project was a collaborative endeavor involving multiple departments and offices. The project won the WCET WOW Award in Recipient of the Regents Staff Recognition Award for Excellence in E-Learning by South Dakota Board of Regents, , the first-ever Staff Recognition Award by the State. Primary designer and developer of an online quiz engine that allows instructors to create item banks, develop quizzes, manage student accounts, and evaluate student performances, all accomplished through a browser interface. Question types include multiple choice, true/false, matching items, and short answers. Instructors can select questions to include in a quiz or let the quiz engine generate random sets of questions from a larger question pool. Instructors can also randomize or customize question orders for each quiz. Instructors can control the release of feedback and correct answers to students and view statistic reports of student performances with graphic analysis of error distribution patterns. Additional security features include the optional requirement of a proctor sign-in for a student to start the quiz. Through the browser interface, students can register with courses, take quizzes, review their performances, and read instructors evaluations. The software was developed using a combination of ASP, DHTML, JavaScript, and MS SQL Server. The software was registered in 2005 with the U.S. Copyright Office. Registration # TXu , and was upgraded and updated with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2007, Registration #: TXu Recipient of the System and Computer Technology Corporation Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) in 2003, for an interactive online orientation program for new university employees of Dakota State University.
