8 The Brammer story s 1960s 1970s 1980s H. Brammer and Company Limited was founded with 3,000 of capital, by Harry Brammer. Shares were offered to the public in 1954 and the company grows to over 150 employees. Brammer belting was being sold as far afield as Fiji. The Brammer group of companies employs 700 people and trades in more than sixty overseas markets. In 1969, Brammer acquires Bearing Service Limited (BSL). The company name changes to Brammer plc and there are now 1,475 employees. Brammer s annual profits rise to over 2 million by Expansion continues in the 1980s with significant acquisitions.
