3 The Bülent Ecevit University Established by the Coal mining industry in 1924 to educate engineers for the mines Former name Karaelmas University Based in Zonguldak at the Black Sea students, 1100 professors + academics bachelor, master and PhD degrees Vocational-technical programmes 11 faculties and 7 vocational schools Mining is part of the engineering faculty - 3 -

4 TFH Georg Agricola University Established by the Coal mining industry in 1816 for the rapidly increasing mining sector Based in Bochum, heart of the Ruhr area 2400 students, 41 professors + 66 staff Bachelor and master courses 3 faculties, Mining and Post-Mining, Electrical and Mechanical/Processing Engineering No tuition fees, 8 % foreign students Private, but refunded by the government - 4 -

5 - Objective - Status of the coorperation between BEU and TFH in 2014 Cooperation agreement Regular exchange and visits of professors and academics Each party contributed to International Symposia organized by the partner university Personnel contacts between academics have been warm and consolidated but none or only marginal contacts between students Objective: Creating and deepening collaboration at student level between both Universities - 5 -
