The Master Programme in International Business and Economics (IBE) combines academic excellence in international management sciences and international economics. Within our lectures, case studies, seminars and empirical projects, we train you in theory construction & methodology and equip you with industry expertise.the programme can be studied entirely in English depending on your choice of complementary subjects. Some complementary subjects are available in German only. Please consult the module catalogue for the language requirements of the complementary subjects. The programme consists of basic modules, two major modules, and one or two elective modules, complementing the major modules. The programme combines International Management and International Economics perspectives on the operations of firms in a globalized world. These field courses impart you to understand the determinants of firms decision in an integrated world and how, in turn, these decisions shape the global economy. The compulsory courses at the beginning of the programme convey advanced methods in mathematics, econometrics, managerial economics, and microeconomics. In addition, you choose from an extensive list of electives in management, economics, and social sciences, which allows you to specialize individually. 4 Double-Master s-degree-programmes HERMES AT A GLANCE If you want to apply for the Double-Master s-degree-programme, you need to do so simultaneously while applying for the Master Programme in International Business and Economics. The selection procedure consists of two stages, and the interviews will take place in July and August. You will know before your enrolment in Hohenheim, whether you have been selected to the Double-Master s-degree-programme. While undertaking your Master Programme in International Business and Economics, you can acquire an international double master s degree within the scope of the HERMES. With the Double-Master s- Degree-Programme you will not only acquire two master degrees within a study period, but also gain international experience, intercultural competence, and improved language proficiency. You will significantly increase your chances on the job market, both on the national and international levels. You can achieve double degrees within a regular study period through the co-ordinated studies in Hohenheim and the partner university. HERMES stands for Higher Education and Research in Management of European Universities. The HERMES network, which brings together 20 renowned universities from twelve European countries in the field of Economic Sciences, has long-standing experience and expertise with Double-Master s- Degree-Programmes. We currently have partnership programmes for the Master Programme in International Business and Economics with the universities in Pavia, Venice and Varese, Italy. Additional programmes are planned. The HERMES programme is set to be completed within four semesters and covers 120 EP inclusive Master s Thesis. The first academic year will be completed at Hohenheim (60 EP), the second academic year inclusive Master sthesis at the partner university (60 EP). The instruction language is English. Some programmes require an integrated internship at the partner university. You will pay your semester fee for the duration of the entire study to Hohenheim. As programme participants, you are exempted from the tuition fees of the partner universities. The study programme offers a mixture of business and economics courses that is outstanding. Many study programmes only offer one or the other. Furthermore, as an IBE student, I am able to study in Venice as a Double-Master s-degree-student. The Master Programme in International Business and Economics consist of a small group of students compared to other study courses. Thus, the relationship between professors and students is much closer, and the educational level is of high quality. The Master Programme in International Business and Economics at the University of Hohenheim allows me to enhance my academic skills. Besides, I acquire valuable practical and international experiences due to a wide range of possibilities by the university, such as seminars, different lectures and opportunities to go abroad or even achieve a Double-Master s-degree. Trang Dao Thu, Student, 3. Semester As a foreign student who still has some problems with an academic German language, I find the Master Programme in International Business and Economics a wonderful opportunity. IBE offers a big variety of lectures in English. If you like, you can complete the whole Master Programme entirely in English. You can take lectures in German too.
