12 SOWG and the Grand River Watershed Partnership of 8 Universities, Ontario/Canada & IBM Monitoring for rain/snowfall, soil moisture, turbidity, flow, temperature, water quality The platform comprises six research and demonstration areas or Nodes, each led by one or more university The key to the SOWC project is the integration of all elements of water management into a single platform

13 SOWG and the Grand River Watershed 600 data points/hour, 120 sensors in urban, agriculture and forested lands IBM Canada, to accelerate the development of water monitoring and management technologies, is contributing over $28 million of hardware, software and personnel to the SOWC data integration platform. Supply data to researchers to better safeguard water supply, predict floods, forecast urban impact, ecosystem protection.

17 The Open Water Project Launched through Public Lab - a nonprofit which develops and applies open-source tools to environmental exploration and investigation Aims to develop and curate a set of low-cost, open source tools to enable communities everywhere to collect, interpret, and share their water quality Make water quality information accessible, sharable, and meaningful to communities through five related open initiatives: hardware, software, data, education and community.
