1 datacentersites.com Tier 3+/Tier 4 Data Center Sites Home of Apple s $1 billion, 500,000sf data center and two 20+ MW solar facilities NC Data Center Corridor home to nearby data centers for Facebook, Google, Wipro, EMC, Time Warner Cable, AT&T, & Disney Low Cost, Reliable and Redundant Electricity provided by Duke Energy Qualifying Projects are Exempted from State Sales Tax Low Cost/Abundant Water (up to 12mgd available capacity) Low Cost and Reliable Fiber and Network Infrastructure by multiple providers (AT&T/Charter Business/Duke Net/others) Insulated from Natural or Manmade Disasters Fast Track Local Permitting Extensive Training Assistance from the NC Community College System including NSA Certification and Certified Network Engineer programs Catawba County is within one hour of two of top ten least expensive cities to operate a data center, as rated by The Boyd Company Inc., Winston-Salem, NC and Charlotte, NC. Positioned between the Charlotte MSA and the Hickory MSA, laborforce totals over 600,000 within 30 minute commute. Within 45 minutes of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Home of the Largest Fiber Optic Training Facility in the US Security, Infrastructure Redundancy Being insulated from potential natural and man made disasters makes our area ideal for data centers and server farms. We are isolated from the coast and therefore have little impact from hurricanes. We are located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains therefore being protected from tornadoes, and although we are a small MSA we are an hour outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, limiting the potential impact of a terrorist attack.

4 Catawba County Maiden Data Park Telecom Focus Site #9 Maiden Data Park Located at the former Carolina Mills Building at 1106 JW Abernathy Plant Road in Maiden, NC this site is approximately 4.8 miles from the serving Central Office in Newton the NPA NXX is (828) 464, 465, 466, 695. Telecom Infrastructure Near Site AT&T is the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC) AT&T has fiber installed North-South along US321 (Bus) which borders the property on the west side. Additional fiber is available along Maiden Road approx. 1 mile to the south and west, as well as Jack Whitener Rd approx. 1 mile to the north and east. Charter Cable TV provides service to the general area and CATV fiber and coax is available at this location along US321(Bus). Additional coaxial facilities are available at this site from Zeb Haynes Farm Rd and approx. ½ mile to the south on Mays Chapel Church Rd. Broadplex has fiber available in the area. Additionally a fiber (unidentified owner) is installed North-South along US321(Bus) which borders the property on the west side. There are 6 identified cell towers within a 5 mile radius of site.
5 Catawba County Maiden Data Park Telecom Focus Site #9 Fiber Availability/Services at Site Nearby fiber infrastructure can provide ready access to high bandwidth services. Approximate distance of nearby fiber infrastructure by owners is illustrated in the chart to the right. Fiber facilities are available from Broadplex. BroadPlex native architecture is typically in ground and geographically diverse. Fiber Owners AT&T Charter Unknown Broadplex DukeNet Distance from Site (approx) At site At site At Site Less the 1/4 mi 2 mi Fiber Availability and Redundancy Build out from existing fiber infrastructure can provide ready access to desired high bandwidth services. Fiber availability and redundancy can be provided by 4 separate providers currently at this location. 3 providers share the same route. Close proximity to telephone fiber in the north and east as well as the south and west will allow additional diversity to be achieved with minimal impact CATV fiber diversity can be attained from the south by building approximately ½ mile of fiber from each respectively. This as well as tele fiber would need to be buried. The presence of three local fiber based providers in the area will allow for redundant and diversified fiber access from multiple providers, as well as Central Offices and/or Carrier Points of Presence. Physical outside plant redundancy can be obtained through several sources at this location a minimum of 4 providers can compete to provide competitive services. Redundancy in terms of infrastructure can be achieved between service providers but for route diversity minimal build outs will need to be performed. Given the proximity of this property along the major north south fiber corridor will allow competitive services to be provided. Competitive Services Broadplex has fiber in the area and can provide service. BroadPlex can provide legacy TDM voice services as well as IP voice services such as SIP Trunks to the site. BroadPlex can provide data services over its fault tolerant, self healing fiber optic rings of a capacity to meet any customer requirements including resilient native Metro E or SONET services. Competitive telecommunications services are available from DukeNet through incumbent agreements at the local CO or via fiber build out to site. DukeNet can provide the following services via its fiber connection T1, T3, ATM, SONET Gig E and Inetrnet Access. tw telecom can provide services through extended switches and incumbent leased lines. Level 3 can provide Internet, MPLS and SIP Trunking via local provider circuits Typical CLEC services (varying by provider) include traditional TDM voice services, PRI, MPLS, and data services including Ethernet and Internet. NC Wireless a local wireless point to point and Internet access company can provide wireless Internet access up to 2 mbps transmit and receive, and up to 10 mbps with customer build cost.
