1 January 5, Second Annual Get Fit Challenge Kick-Off Launch o On January 5 th, Councilman Mosby will launch the 7 th District Annual Get Fit with Councilman Mosby Challenge, a health initiative lasting through summer 2015 with the goal of providing opportunities for participants to exercise and change what and how they eat, without any cost to them. Councilman Mosby has partnered with a variety of fitness programs and health organizations, most within the 7 th District that will provide opportunities for people to exercise. The Get Fit Challenge will also offer opportunities for participants to learn how to make better food choices through nutrition label-reading classes, cooking classes, and other resources. The Annual Kick- Off event will include free weigh-ins, BMI measurement assessments and blood pressure checks, Zumba work-out class, among many other healthy events. The annual parade honors the immeasurable contributions of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration for the late civil rights activist features entertaining high school and community marching bands, decorative floats, civic organizations, high stepping fraternities, honor and color guards, lively cheerleading squads and equestrian units.
