QUESTION: How has the class helped you grow/change as a communicator in the world of work? The class helped me in knowing that it's ok to make mistakes as long as you learn by them. By learning the different formats and ways of communication in the business work. The class has helped me improve my ability to communicate effectively to different people/audiences in my work. This class helped me grow as a communicator in the world of work by acknowledging the reader when writing. I never thought much about how my reader might interpret what i write differently than what I intended. The class has expanded my confidence to write efficiently and with the proper tone. The oral presentation enhanced my public speaking skills, especially to be concise. It has helped me become more aware of my writings. I have also developed a better sense of tone in the messages I send. This class has helped me realize the importance of understanding your audience. Therefore helping me communicate effectively. This class has helped me to realize a lot of common error that I was making. I have learned many things during the course of this class. The assignments were good learning tools. I found the resume writing assignment very valuable. I learned to watch our for small mistakes in my writing that I took for granted until points were deducted from my assignments. It has definately improved my confidence in communicating in the workplace. This course has made me think of my audience more when I am communicating. I now believe this is one of the most important items to consider in all forms of communication. The class has helped me grow/change as communicator in the world of work because I take in consideration who my audience is when writing a memo, , or letter. Also I make sure that I use a letterhead for every memo, , or letter I write. I believe I would now spend more time on all future documents making sure that each sentence and paragraph was perfect. This class teaches me more the convention format of communication used in the work place and
makes me a more effective professional communicator. i have learned how to make flyers and prepare appropriate documents for different scenarios in the business world. QUESTION: How long, on an average, did the instructor take to respond to your or phone call? Were you satisfied with the quality of the response and the response time? I was satisfied, if it wasnt the same day it was the next. Response time was almost immediate and good quality. < 12 hours... The response time was very quick. Mrs. Subbarao did a great job at responding quickly to any voice messages or s that I sent her. Voice messages usually were returned within 2-3 hours, and s were returned no later then 24 hours. Mrs. Subbarao always responded within three days or less. Her responses were clear and very helpful without being critical Response times were very quick. I had no complaints with response times to any of my questions and concerns. Some responses were quick within a day, sometimes it took around a day longer. I would like to say that this is the fastest I have ever heard back from ANY INSTRUCTOR EVER I was very satisfied. My instructor always gave a prompt response to any questions I had. Mrs. Subbarao always responded to my messages either the same day or the next day at the latest. She was always very helpful. Within 24hrs. If it was during the day, the response was typically within the hour. Even during the evenings more often then not I had response that same night. By far, Mrs. Subbarao had the best response time of any instructor I have had. She would also respond the very same day to my s. I was very satisfied with the quality of the response and the response time. Suba was excellent in her repsonse times to me. For me, all was well. Mrs. Subbarao usually returns my in the same day or the next day. I was quite satisfied with the quality of the response and the response time. it did't really take too long for my instructor to respond to my s. it took roughly less than a day if not the same day i sent them. i am more than staisfied with the responses because they were complete.
QUESTION: How long, on an average, did the instructor take to return your paper with a grade? Were you satisfied with this response time? Did you get detailed feedback? O my god the feedback was so detailed that I got tired of reading it. She's great.within a few days the papers were return and graded. Papers were returned within a week, good timing, and good feedback. I usually received my graded assignments the next day. I was very satisfied with both the turnaround time and level of feedback. It usually took 2-3 days to get my graded paper back. I was surprised on how fast I got my grade every time i got an . Mrs. Subbarao's feedback was always very detailed and helpful. Mrs. Subbarao returned assignment promptly, always within 3 or 4 working days. I was very pleased with the response times. Her feedback was meticulous and very constructive. Again response times were excellent. Papers were returned within a day or two at most. Papers were returned with detailed feedback explaining any issues with the writings. Same time as question 3. yes I was satisfied with her turn around time. there was TONS of detailed feedback. I was very satisfied with the response time and feedback. There were no question marks in my mind with any of my homework assignments. Mrs. Subbarao did not take long to return graded assignments at all. She always gave feedback on your assignments that explained your errors. Within 72hrs. I would say the average response on graded papers was 1.5 days. The feedback was very detailed and constructive. Based on that, it is hard to imagine her being able to get them out so quick. The instructor would take about one to three days to return our paper with a grade. I found this as a reasonable amount of time considering the number of students she had and papers she had to grade. Usually in traditional classes you don t receive your grades sometimes within more than two weeks. It was great to receive my papers in such a short amount of time with a very detailed and useful feedback. Details, details, details, yes. The feedback was amazing. She doesn't miss a thing. You would have to become a better writer in her class. The papers were usually back within a day or two. On an average, she returns my graded paper within two or three days. I was satisfied with this response time, and I get detailed feedback, although sometimes I was not satisfied with some of the grades.
my instructor took a reasonable time ingrading papers and returning them. i know she has better things to do than sit arounfd and wait for each individual student to turn in their papers. the feedback was quite detailed and informative. QUESTION: How does this class compare with the other online classes you have taken? Or, how does this class compare with the other writing/communication classes you have taken? This was my first time taking any online classes.i took two online english classes and it was really overwhelming. But I believe I did fairly. I took an english class in school and didnt pass but the online class I did. So I think that explains it all. Very good class to take online. The breadth of topics is much greater. This class was a lot of work, but it was very convenient compared to the other writing class I have taken. The attention to detail and professionalism of this class far exceeds any class I have completed. This is my first online class. If all online classes are conducted in the same manner, I will take more. This class was a nice change of pace. It dealt with some of the real world communication issues that we currently face in a global economy. This class is completely different then any other online class I took. there was much more of a structure. This is good for people who need flexibility and structure at the same time. This class exceeded any other only class I have taken. The instructor truly cares about her students, and it shows. This was my first online course, but I found it to be just effective as other writing/communication classes that I have taken on campus. BLANK RESPONSE This is the fifth online course that I have taken. Nobody can compare to the instructor and her format. She is extremely informative, helpful, and responsive. This class was great compared to other online classes I have taken. I have taken a cost accounting course online and the professor would sometimes not even respond to your s or even take over a take to respond. She never gave you a grade for your homework to know how you were doing in the class or if you even did the problems correct. The second exam was not even posted when it should have been. Also the final exam was on campus and she gave no information on blackboard about where it would be and when. This was my first on-line class. I was pleased with how she had everything laid out - the assignments, the lectures, the extra info. Compared to other online class I am taking, Mrs. Subbarao did a quite good job on scheduling
and time frame. This class teaches more useful professional communication skills than other writing classes I've taken. this course required a whole lot more of work than the other writing courses i have taken previously. it has also taught me how to proofread my papers better then the other courses because an emphsis was placed on that particular section. QUESTION: Complete the following statement: "If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester that..." The professional communication class was more indept and more serious I would of took it by itself. We had to give an oral presentation. N/A... everything we would need to know was clearly outlined between the syllabus, online materials, and in-person meetings. If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester that we would have to do an in-class oral presentation. If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester that this was such a comprehensive class that including using extensive internet, office software, writing, and oral skills; I would have prepared better to complete the assignments. there was such a difference in communication styles across nationalities, I may have been more conscious of my writings. I would have learned this much about communication I would have opened my mind a little wider. BLANK RESPONSE If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester that small mistakes could cost you valuable points I would have proofread a lot better. a oral presentation is nothing to be terrified over....this course would be such a pleasure, I wouldn't have waited so long to take it. "If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester that this class would be so useful for my current job position or actually any job I would have taken about two years ago when I starting coming to OCC. She was so particular and thorough. I guess it's a good thing, I learned a lot. If I'd only known at the beginning of the semester about the due date of self-evaluation of oralpresentation, I wouldn't miss it. this course was so simple, i would have taken it earlier.
QUESTION: Would you recommend this class to another student? It's a lot of writing. You have to alease spend more then 4 hours on the computer in a week for the assignments. Don't take the course with other demanding classes. Yes, I would recommend this class to everyone because it helps with everyday communication. Yes I would definitely recommend this class to another student. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot from it. The most important part is that everything we did was related to work and real life events. Absolutely, I would recommend this class to any student. The level of intensity and volume of work was extensive but very relevant to the business world. The service learning project exemplified this connection by added a real world element to the academic experience. Students will be challenged but will come out superb communicators. I would encourage all students to add this class under Professor Subbarao s instruction to their course schedule. Definitely. Absolutely! Yes. I would definitely recommend this class to another student. certainly would. Absolutely. I already have. The only suggestion I have would be to adjust the layout of the ucompass site. The navigation isn't too bad. However, the aesthetics could be improved. I would definitely recommend this class and instructor to another student. Yes, if you are in need of help with your writing, she's the one. I would like to recommend this class to other students. in all honesty i would recommend this course to anyone who nedds it. this course has taught me how to prepare documents and write efficiently.
