1 Initial Report Last Modified: 10/20/ What were some of the factors you considered while you decided on a graduate program? Types of programs offered, convenience, cost. Some factors I considered while I was deciding on a graduate program was how long it was going to take me to graduate, location, driving distance to see my family, and jobs available to me. Location, cost, and program. location, cost, type of classes, type of teachers further my knowledge Prestige, ease of use, and cost were the biggest factors in choosing Tarleton's graduate program. Other factors were subject matter and course descriptions that were online. Location, programs offered, and price. I wanted to continue my education and decided that counseling would be my best choice. My parents had some to do with it. But my goal was to go as far as I could in my field of study and eventually teach others. cost, close to home, reputaion of the college

2 2. Why did you choosetarleton? I received my Bachelor degree from Tarleton through the University Center at McLennan Community College. I appreciated the small classes, the convenience, and the relationships I developed with the instructors. I chose to go to Tarleton in Stephenville because they offered me a graduate teaching assistant job, and I knew I would get a better education on Tarleton's Stephenville campus. I wanted a good education locally that wouldn't cost me so much that I'd have to get financial aid or loans. I also wanted to be able to work and go to school at night and most universities don't offer that for programs other than business. convenience of Waco's university center close to home, low cost, small classes Local High quality eduction at a low price was a major attraction in choosing Tarleton State University. The location and program of choice. I intended to obtain my degree from Baylor but they no longer offer the masters degree I am seeking. Tarleton was the next best option without moving. Tarleton had the program I wanted. I live 20 minutes from Waco, so convenience had a lot to do with it. My advisor at MCC suggested Tarleton for my furthered education. cost, close to home, small classes, reputation of college

3 3. In your field of study, are there other degree options or certifications that you would like to see delivered in Waco or online? No. I do not live in Waco anymore, but I do not think many EDTC options were available for the Waco campus. These classes are important for anyone in the Instructional Design and Technology program which I was considering switching to. A psychology doctorate program, more graduate degree options such as public health or social work. yes, at least a few more online options for classes if not a broader spectrum of degree plans not at this time more MBA specializations. Strategic Management, HR, etc. Options for cloud computing and virtualization environments would be helpful. I would like to see more electives offered in the Counseling Psychology program. I would be interested in taking more courses on psychopathology, assessment, and potentiallly populations such as working with sex offenders, the elderly, and children. The courses fill up fast. On the fourth day, all of the on-line classes were full. I only had two options for classes in the upcoming Spring semester. More hands on classes for students in business, because the internship is not long enough to teach you what you need to know in the world of business. more flexiblity of classes. some classes offered only once a year. It would be helpful to be able to have more flexiblity in when I can take certain classes.

4 4. How can we improve your experience as a graduate student at Tarleton? I am enjoying my experience as a graduate student. However, I am having a difficult time finding out what exactly I need to be doing in order to graduate. It seems like no one has any answers for me, and I need them answered. I wish there wasmore professional society/honor society type presence. ensuring instructors actually know the subject they "teach" instead of signing just anyone who agrees to accommodate give some classes overed in more semesters. More on-campus classes offered as far as your rotation goes for Waco core classes needed for the MBA. I've noticed in my one semester that a lot of the syllabus's are almost exact copies of each other aside from the assignment schedule. I'd never seen anything like that before and makes me feel like I don't really need to read the syllabus for classes anymore. I know some information is the same.. like school policies, but this was more than that. I guess cause I was signed up for all HR classes they were all the same. Keep up the great work! The subject matter of the classes have been very pertinent to assignments at my job. I would like for the program to be set up in cohorts. Have more variety and offerings at Waco, MCC. Scheduling is getting harder with the classes I have left to take. Often they happen at the same time. In the graduate program, I wish they had the three strikes your out, because things happen and you can't always keep a B or above in your classes. Especially those that work and have young kids as well as school. it has been great so far! Thank you. Total Responses 10

5 5. What else do you want to tell us about your experience at Tarleton State University? I am grateful that Tarleton State University has a presence in Waco. Now, there is almost no excuse for obtaining a degree. I have learned more about math than I ever have in my life. I am rebuilding the foundation, and I am loving every minute of it. It is a lot of hard work, but it is worth it. In the end, I will be a stronger teacher and have a strong math background. I've really enjoyed my program a lot and I love all of the professors I've had. Adjunct faculty needs restructuring- if not for students' sake, then to support overworked regular staff love it! recommend to all! Though I don't really feel a part of Tarleton State, being an off-campus student.. that was expected and it seems like you are doing your best to make me feel like one. You recently gave out free shirts in Waco for you reaching an enrollment goal for the university, which I thought was awesome. I signed up at the last minute and your staff working with me on it really impressed me. I didn't think I would get things done in time but you guys were on top of things. I really appreciate that. I wish you had descriptions of the classes on your website somewhere. Maybe you have a catalog that does but I didn't see one, thus it's too hard to find. I know you have a catalog link but it doesn't tell what classes are about (searching for classes through mygateway). It is irritating cause I like to have an idea what I'm going into when I'm looking for electives. For one of my classes (CIS_576), I was suprised I had to have an updated computer (printer too) or find another computer to complete the class. It would have been nice if the University had furnished more virtual, online type of hardware simulation to complete the online class. So far, I have really enjoyed all of my classes I have taken. I have either taken face-to-face classes in Waco at MCC or I have taken two classes on-line. They were classes that were converted to an on-line course after I signed up for a face-to-face. I was unhappy at the time, but I have enjoyed the flexibility of an on-line course. I love this school and would love to be a teacher there one day. Wonderful people, experience and guidance, and fantastic teachers. I would and have suggested this school to others and will continue to, it is the best college for anyone.
