1 PRINCIPLES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (AOIT) Final Project/Assessment January 2015 PROJECT OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate knowledge of the basic components of a computer system. To compare and contrast different computer systems. To design and virtually construct a computer system for a specific use/purpose. To build a computer system from scratch based on a limited budget. To prepare information to compare the quality of a scratch build computer system to a boxed, pre-built system. To prepare a variety of media to report findings related to the project (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Page 1

3 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Projects are due at the end of class on Thursday January 22, No late work will be accepted. A printed copy of all work must be submitted directly to Mrs. Sattelberg. Make-ups or extensions will be based on approval by school administration. All policies pertaining to absence during examinations apply. Disruptiveness during the final project lab time will not be tolerated and will result in a disciplinary referral and removal from class. No hall passes will be issued during the examination period. Passes will be permitted to the health office. Additional instruction and guidance will be given daily in class therefore it is vital that students attend all classes. Instructions will not be repeated as this is a final project and counts as a final exam grade. This is a final project and counts as the final exam for this course. You are required to use all class time to work on this project. Come to class prepared to work. No games, videos, or use of computers for other work. Phones away at all times. No printing until your project has been reviewed on screen. Page 3

4 PRINCIPLES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Final Project/Assessment January 2015 Designing Your Dream Computer FINAL PROJECT COMPONENT RESEARCH PARTS 1 and 2 3 class periods to complete. Resource file located on the class web page. Part 1 - Component Research on-screen instructions. Part 2 - Chart showing budget analysis; questions and answers. BEFORE PRINTING: Delete all instructions. Preview your work. Make adjustments as needed. Change page to landscape; adjust column width/height; resize text size to fit. SPELL CHECK ALL WORK (REVIEW tab ABC). POWERPOINT 5 class periods to complete Create a PowerPoint to show your selected components. Your PowerPoint must be well organized, use proper layouts, and relate in theme to the content of the project. Do not use picture backgrounds. All text must be appropriate size, font and color. Each slide must have a title. You may add additional slides to further organize your work.
