3 1.- Navarra, Pamplona, UPNA: THINK UPna LIVE UPna UPNA is located in Navarra, a region with a high standard of living located in the northern spain, south of the Pyrenees and one hour from the sea. Its main campus, Campus Arrosadai, is placed in Pamplona, a city of 250,000 inhabitants internationally known its local festivitis of Sanfermín, celebrated every year the 6 th of July. Madrid and Barcelona at 3 and 5 hours, respectively. Bilbao to Biarritz 2 hours and 1.35 h. 45 minutes separate us from the Cantabrian Sea. The city center is 5 minutes by bike In the Campus Arrosadia of UPNA coexist six faculties and schools, research centers, library, dorm, a sports center, golf course and language school UPNA has an extensive cultural and sports offer available to the entire community. UPNA also has a specialized Health campus located in the hospital complex of Pamplona. One hour from Pamplona, Tudela Campus offers programmes of Physiotherapy and Engineering Design. The community consists of more than 900 teachers, 8,000 undergraduate and graduate (master's, doctoral and own titles) and 300 administrative staff 17 degrees, 27 master's, 21 doctoral programs and 16 own titles The UPNA offers sports, cultural, language learning golf, choir, theater, jazz, swimming, aerobics, fencing... 3/14

4 2.- What to do on arrival 1º: Attending, whenever possible, welcome activities organized by International Office. UPNA organizes a welcome and orientation program for international exchange students on arrival September / February with the aim of providing a first contact with the University, the city and our culture. In this session you will be given different material and useful information (welcome guide, enrollment guide, academic coordinator name and , user and password etc.) 2º In you are not able to attend this meeting, please notify the arrival to the Internatonal Office 3º: In that session you will be given the name and of your academic coordinator and you should contact him/her as soon as possible to fix the final program of studies. You can also contact the Academic Coordinator for Spanish, prof. Orreaga Ibarra (orreaga@unavarra.es), for any doubt related to the learning of Spanish at our institution. 4º: Enrollment: you have two weeks from arrival to formalize the registration of courses with the help of academic coordinator. 5 3.- PRACTICAL INFORMATION Learning spanish UPNA offers you different options to facilitate your learning of Spanish: - Intensive free course on arrival: as an exchange student you have the opportunity to do a crash course in Spanish, free of charge and during the week before the beginning of the semester. 6 3.2.- Accomodation HOUSING OPTIONS University Residence Hall Located on the campus of Arrosadia. It has 250 rooms and there are different types of rooms: single rooms with kitchen, single rooms with shared kitchen and double suites. More information: / eng / residences / los_abedules International/ exchange students have a discount of 25% on the published fee. The average monthly price is 350 euros. If you choose this option, you must make the reservation by yourself directly at the address and / or phone numbers listed. Shared Apartments Most of the exchange students are accommodated in shared apartments in the city, near campus. The Accomodation Service of the university located in the Student Information Office (room 021 of the Aulario, ground floor) provide information on apartments and rooms for rent. oficina.informacion@unavarra.es Although prices can vary greatly, depending on the characteristics of each flat and the area where it is located, the average price is between 250 and 300 euros per month for a single room in a shared 3 or 4 people floor, including expenses electricity, water and heating. Not all flats have a telephone and / or Internet connection, but where they are available, these expenses are extra. It is necessary when entering a flat to pay the first full month plus one month deposit as a guarantee which will be returned back when leaving is everything is OK; so you should calculate that in the early days you may have to pay about 500 euros approximately 6/14

7 3.3.- Cost of life The Spanish currency is the EURO. The cost of life will vary depending on the lifestyle of the student. 500 euros is the minimum you may need to live each month, but we recommend a quote from 800 euros per month if you want to enjoy your stay travelling or enjoying leisure and other recreational activities and / or training. 8 - Pamplona Madrid: 56 - Pamplona Barcelona: 45 By plane: The airport is situated in Noain (4 km from Pamplona) and has daily flights to Madrid and Barcelona. Return ticket: Pamplona - Madrid: 400 Pamplona - Barcelona Visa 1 - Citizens and residents of the European Union do not need visa to enter Spain. With a valid identity card or passport they can live in Spain as long as they wish. 9 Three recent passport size photographs in colour. Foreign documents must be legalized. The student card is awarded for one year or for the period during which it has undertaken. To travel outside Spain inquire in the Foreigners Office Health Insurance If you are a citizen of the European Union, European Economic Area or Switzerland you must obtain the European Health Insurance Card in your country that will give health coverage in Spain. Check where s your nearest Health Center (Centro de Salud) in Pamplona, (in purple in the map given). If you come from another country, see if there is agreement between the National Health Service of your country and Spain (the case of many Latin American countries). If so, you can obtain a document from the authorities of your country to have free coverage in Spain. If you are not in one of the above categories, you must take out private medical insurance while in the UPNA. Consult your insurance company about where to go in case you need it, befor you need it. 12 5.3.- WIFI You can connect with the username and password provided in the welcome session UPNA student card Your identification as an exchange student in the university. You will collect it at the Student Information Office, after receiving a mail. The student card gives access to computer rooms, library, sports and cultural facilities etc. 12/14
