2 Vision on the cycle link Dampoort-Warandebridge: Through time the project area has gone through a series of changes, mainly under the influence of trade and later on, of the industry. An effort is made to make the historical context on some locations visible again. In this way the Sasplein (square) has to regain it s squarefunction. The link between the square and the Spanish shed situated at the handelskom must gain strength. Another aspect is to make the green character of the northern edge of Bruges stronger in connection to the green belt around Bruges. This aspect is approached in connection with the traffic circulation. This circulation needs to be examined in function of the traffic relief of some roads. This creates possibilities to integrate green infrastructure. By reviewing the traffic circulation, attention is given to the safety of cyclists and pedestrians by adjusting the road infrastructure on crucial crossings. A carless recreational route ensures the integration of the Spanish shed and it s environment. The re-intending of the buildings as pubs, bicycle rent and optional canoe rent brings back the attention they disserve. In combination with a chill out plank bridge, which increases contact with the water and gives the possibility to moor small boats, it becomes a new epicenter of residential recreation in the north of Bruges. The redesign of the existing greenspace next to the Spanish shed as park and the increase of the circulation-possibilities enhances the link with the Sasplein (square) en increases its identity. As much as possible the boundary conditions of the numerous concerned partners will be considered. Acceptable indulgences of them can create various advantages for the divers users. The consideration will have effects on tourist and economical aspects on short notice as well as on long term.
