3 KMD Master data management - Master data interoperability Trends and overview June 2th, 2015
4 PUBLIC BASIC-DATA IS THE FOUNDATION FOR PUBLIC AUTHORITIES AND PRIVATE COMPANIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DAILY TASKS Background on basic-data and the basic-data programme Basic data is various core information about individuals, businesses, real properties, buildings, addresses, and more, used by the Public authorities while the scope of the basicdata program is harmonize and registers and establish a distribution infrastructure The most important objectives for the programme is that it is correct, complete and up-to-date that all public authorities use public sector basic data that it is freely available to businesses as well as the public that it is distributed efficiently that it accommodate the needs of the users Public sector basic-data is information about... Owns People Employed in Business Owns Real Estate Owns Located at Lives on Adresses, Roads etc. Exists on Determines the location Maps and Geography The civil registration system (CPR) is a central, nationwide due register, which assign a personal number (social security number) for secure identification to everyone Business master data is stored in the Central Business Register and in the Company Register Real property master data includes data on land parcels, buildings and dwellings Address master data are data relating to road names, postal codes etc., and place names which are known names for places or areas such as cities, hospitals, etc. Geographic basic data is location-specific data e.g. about land parcels, buildings, road infrastructure, watercourses and lakes 4
5 4 KEY TRENDS WILL CHANGE THE MARKET AS WE KNOW IT AND CHALLENGE MARKED BUT ALSO CREATE NEW GROWTH POCKETS Trend 1 Increasing data usage across all sectors 2 The data distribution market is changing 3 Modular and agile systems are the future winners Underlying observation Data sources and data-driven is increasing, e.g. the need for improved data quality, data availability and common data terminology is rising Increased regulatory requirements in the wake of the financial crisis has resulted in a new and increasing demand for data and the level of data quality Following the development, the need and demand for the development of a common terminology to reduce complexity and the level of compatibility is growing The market for data distribution is changing drastically, due to the development of the data distributor which will make data available for all and free of charge Data distribution will no longer take place in siloes, but be carried out across sectors and verticals The private sector will be more active in making data available to relevant and interested stakeholders, but also use more public data in improving operations Both the private and public sector are demanding open source software that can be incorporated in existing systems Modular systems that can be adapted to meet the individual customer needs and preferences will most likely be the future winners Focus across all private companies and public authorities on limiting supplier dependency by applying a uniform IT architecture with low level of customization Consequence Increases the importance of delivering systems with high degree of stability First mover advantage to incorporate additional public data, but also target the private sector with a compatible solution Adapt to the changing dynamics and be more agile to remain relevant 4 Increasing demand for BI and data analytics as a service More and more value creation takes place within data analysis to optimise daily operations and strengthen managerial decisions. Focus on combining GIS and statistical data in analytic solutions. Significant domain knowledge is required in order to provide the client with the level of quality requested Development toward real-time data handling and as a service, due to a need for and fast proof of concept and constantly changing circumstances Strategic partnerships with sector specialists will become more relevant Focus on combining GIS and statistical data in analytic solutions. 5
6 Shadow reg. Core reg. platform platform platform platform platform DATA IS LIMITED BY SILOS, MULTIPLE DISTRIBUTION PLATFORMS AND DOUBLE REGISTRATION THROUGH SHADOW REGISTERS Solution area Illustration (non exhaustive) Market structure / maturity Value-added products Underdeveloped market, following wideranging legal restrictions Silo based market approach has led to technological and organizational barriers and a low level of flexibility Many solutions are technically obsolete, consequently not capable of delivering the desired data as fast as needed Great number of individual systems for distributing basic data People Companies Real Estate Adresses, Roads etc. Maps and Geography Strong pressure on registers due to increasing demand for data Master data management Problems with gaps and redundancy in the data sets, has resulted in shadow registers to enable delivery the service requested 6
