3 Introduction Hi, let s face it, if you ve been browsing betting sites online for any period of time, you ve almost certainly seen betting systems for sale. And, if you re anything like me, you ve been drawn magnetically towards the hollow promises in the sales bluster like a fly is drawn to that luminous blue light in the bug zapper! Deep down, you know that what you re being told is extremely unlikely to be true... but we simply have to find out! So, the first thing I want to tell you is... you re not alone. In fact, thousands of people buy betting systems every single day, and many of them end up with a few worthless words on pieces of virtual paper that are not worth the bits and bytes they re printed on. Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Matt Bisogno, and I look something like the picture on the right (with my little nephew). I wanted to include a photo so you know that I m a real person. Not only am I a real person, but I ve also been interested in, and betting on, horse racing and sport in general for over twenty years. And, finally, I ve been blogging online, and trialling and reviewing betting systems, since During that time, I ve probably reviewed a hundred systems and services, and I can count the truly good ones on the fingers of two hands (possible one). And I m fed up with the increasing number of scammers and shysters who promise the earth (in exchange for 27), but deliver little more than an express one-way ticket to the poorhouse. So I ve written this short, no nonsense guide to help you (and perhaps to remind you!) of the things to look out for when considering buying a betting system online. 5 Warning Signs on the Sales Page Almost all betting systems and services online are sold via a sales page. Let s take a look at a typical page below, and I ll point out a few things to be wary of. OK, where do I start?! Firstly, the graphics are quite distinctive with a number of betting systems such as this one. Whilst the look and feel of the page is not in itself the death knell for the product, it should cause you to be on guard. Secondly, the headlines almost always contain numbers and often contain references to a manual worker of some description who has now retired on his new found winning system. To prove how fake these are, I used the same generator these guys do to produce the screenshot below: It would take no more than ten minutes to edit the whole thing, and you can see this for yourself here: OK, if you see these elements you should be wary in the extreme. 7 Clickbank Clickbank ( is one of the largest if not the largest online information product marketplace. In case you were wondering, an information product is something like a report that contains knowledge that helps take you from where you are to where you want to be. It might be a business opportunity report, or one on how to lose weight, or attract more of the kind of people you want to attract (be that boys, girls, or both!)... Or it might be something to help you win more money or bet more winners or, ideally, both. So, for the purposes of this report, Clickbank is a place where betting system sellers make their wares available to both end consumers (i.e. you and me) and other product owners who can then sell the product for a percentage commission. Disclaimer: Now I should tell you that when I like a system or service, and feel happy to recommend it (relatively rare), I receive a commission for my troubles. If you re uncomfortable with that, you can always search online for the product and pay all the money to the vendor... and I ll still talk to you! ;-) Right, with that said, let me explain why Clickbank is a good thing. Clickbank works as the holder of all funds for a certain period of time after you buy. And Clickbank insists that all of its product sellers offer a 60 day refund period. Not only that, but if you don t hear back directly from the vendor, you may write to Clickbank and request a refund if you re unhappy with the product. Now of course, fair s fair. It is unscrupulous to buy systems with the express intention of requesting a refund and still using the product. So do please use this knowledge appropriately and fairly. If you have any problems receiving your refund directly from the seller, simply your invoice number to refunds@clickbank.com and request a refund. These are normally processed within 48 hours. 8 PayPal, PayDotCom, and the rest... There are lots of other payment processors aside from Clickbank, and some are more transparent to deal with than others. However, in the main, when dealing with transactions completed through the likes of PayPal and PayDotCom, you are reliant on the product seller honouring any guarantee on the sales page. PayPal does have a complaints procedure, but its policy in relation to non-physical products (i.e. downloadable information) is clear and unhelpful to the disgruntled buyer. Do note also that if you re resident in the UK, the law here does not require sellers of digital information (which includes ebooks, software and sound recordings like CD s) to refund customers. Such refunds are thus discretionary unless explicitly stated otherwise, or unless you use a reputably third party such as Clickbank. 9 Five Fool-Proof Ways to Avoid Scams and Save Money There are quite a few things you can do to avoid scams, including avoiding buying betting systems! But, if you re like me, and love rules based and statistical approaches to horse racing and sports betting, then here s a trio of top tips to save you money. 1. Look for a Refund Guarantee, or a Free Trial It sounds obvious, I know, but it is not the case that all betting systems sales sites offer a refund guarantee. So be sure to check for this before parting with any money. There is only exception I make to this golden rule, and that is if there is a free trial on offer. If there is a free trial, take full advantage of it. This means making a physical note (either by adding a reminder to your calendar, or your phone, or writing on your wall planner, or whatever) of the date the trial expires. It is normally the case that if you do not cancel within the trial period, you will be automatically charged for the next period of service after the trial has elapsed. Most reputable providers will refund you if you accidentally forget, but don t take this chance. It is your responsibility to remember, and if you do, then you ll never have any problems. [Most recurring subscription products/services leave the control of the payment mandate in the hands of the buyer, i.e. you. If that s not the case, I would be very wary. So, for instance, if you re not able to cancel directly with your bank, or via PayPal or through a membership website, take care.] 2. Google the seller It is so easy to check things out these days, that there is simply no excuse for not doing this. If you ve been able to navigate to the product sales page, then you have the requisite skill to find out about the vendor! ;-) As an example, on the next page there s a screenshot of what you can see if you Google my name from google.co.uk (it might be different in other countries, but there will still be 149,000 results and there are not that many other people with my name! I am real. I have been online doing this for a number of years. And I hope in time you ll find you trust my opinions. If you cannot find search results for the vendor of the system you re considering, it is quite likely that the seller is operating under a pseudonym. 10 3. Google for a Review of the Product Caution is required here... not all product reviews are equal, and not all of them are unbiased. For instance, let s take a look at another screenshot from Google, this time for a product called One a Day Wonder the one I illustrated at the start of this report. Although the text is not easy to make out, hopefully you can see that the first two results are both from GeeGeez.co.uk. That is because whenever possible I, and my team of reviewers, will undertake a live trial of the system or service. That was the case here. But, looking further down the list, I can tell you that positions 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are all affiliate promotion sites that have conducted no research into the product and simply attempt to sell it to you! 11 In other words, even if you have the good sense to search for reviews of a product, make sure you also check the veracity of the site you re using for research purposes. There are some reliable ones. 12 And, of course,! 4. Don t Bet The System on Day One (!) OK, so if you ve done this much, you have a decent chance that on your screen or printed out in your hand is a promising betting product. But that doesn t guarantee you will make money. For a lot of people, their biggest mistake is not buying awful betting systems... It is failing to paper trade. Following the advice above means you have at least one of the following two luxuries afforded to you: a) You have a refund period, during which you can get your money back b) You have a free trial, during which a cancelation will mean you paid no money Take advantage of this period to establish whether the product is for you. Ask yourself: i) Does this product suit my betting style? ii) Do I have enough time to find the selections? iii) Is it profitable? iv) Am I comfortable with the losing runs / liabilities / required betting bank? Take the time you have to understand these things. This will also hopefully ensure you don t dive into the next wonder system a day or two after acquiring the previous one. Paper trading is almost as much fun as real trading. In fact, if you ve acquired a dud, it s a LOT MORE fun! So be patient, and track the results sensibly for a period of at least a fortnight (and ideally for the full duration of the trial or refund period) before risking any of your folding. 5. Bet for Fun! Betting is a high risk pursuit. Following the mechanics or advice of a system or service involves putting more than just your faith in someone else. 13 If you think about it in those terms, you are more likely to act with the appropriate level of caution, and to stake in line with what is affordable to you. 14 Summary The key to enjoying your betting is to find a system or service that aligns to the way you like to bet; offers a period where you can establish that (either via a free trial or a refund guarantee); is run by someone with a verifiable online presence; and, preferably where the product has been trialled by a reputable website previously.
