2 Transportation Services The Transportation Department includes: Director of Transportation (2) Full-Time Drivers (4) On-Call Drivers (2) Mechanics OUR MISSION: CKV-TBHC Transportation Department serves to provide professional, courteous and caring transportation service to all residents. OUR GOAL: Our goal is to meet the transportation needs of CKV- TBHC residents with the resources available, based upon CKV-TBHC policy, state and federal regulations. We will always strive to provide transportation needs throughout various transitions of care level, necessary to sustain a quality of life acceptable and practical to those we serve. We will provide the vehicles, equipment and personnel necessary for transporting both ambulatory and nonambulatory residents, up to and including wheel chairs. 2

3 On Campus Shuttle Transportation Mon. Fri. At no additional cost to residents, free Volunteer Operated Campus Shuttle Program is available to all residents who do not require wheel chair accessible transportation, by calling ext. 5202, Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Wheel chair campus transportation is provided by the transportation department by calling ext Weekend Campus Transportation call or 0 *Saturday Campus 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. (Last run - return trip) All sign-ups for Saturday campus transportation must be received by Friday at 4:00 p.m. *Sunday Church Service 9:15 a.m. Pick up 11:00 a.m. Return and Lunch Run 1:00 p.m. (Last run - return trip) *Call the Main Lobby Receptionist at for Saturday and Sunday standard times of campus transports. 3

4 Off Campus Transportation provided at no additional charge is as follows: Tuesday - Shopping (alternating weeks Weis Market or Aldi s, & Giant in Hanover), & Banks. Thursday Shopping to New Oxford Shurfine, Banks, Rite Aid and New Oxford Mall 9:00 a.m. Pick up 11:00 a.m. Return Thursday - Shopping to Wal-Mart, and other Dept. Stores as announced. 12:45 p.m. Pick up 3:00 p.m. Return Please adhere to the scheduled times listed above. Drivers are not permitted to make unscheduled stops. Contact Main Lobby Receptionist at to sign up. General Information Door to door service is usually provided. Assistance is also provided for carrying packages and/or groceries from the bus to your front door on shopping days. Group Functions are available at no charge as long as they are scheduled by the Personal Care Activity Coordinator for Personal Care or Residential Living staff for Cross Keys Village. Sign up sheets are located at the Personal Care Receptionist Desk for Personal Care Residents and at the Harmony Ridge Reception area for Villagers. 4

5 Off Campus Transportation provided for a fee must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Additional notice is desirable. Less than 24 hours notice will result in an additional fee. Less than 24 hours notice to cancel may result in an additional fee. Non-Medical Transportation is available based on schedule and driver availability for individuals or groups for private/or social functions, airport trips, etc. Rates are based on an hourly rate charge plus mileage, vehicle used, and any expenses. 6 Medical Appointment Transports To schedule transportation for a medical appointment or for additional information about Transportation Services, please contact the Personal Care Receptionist for PC Residents, the Unit Secretary or Manager for Heath Care Residents, well in advance of the appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Villagers may schedule transportation for appointments by contacting the Transportation Office at All appointments should be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. whenever possible due to additional overall costs incurred for appointments exceeding this time frame. Residents who need personal assistance during the trip will require an escort. Drivers are not permitted to provide escort service. Families are encouraged to serve as the escort whenever possible. If staff is assigned as the escort, there will be an additional fee. General Information Please check your weekly issue of TALK and Channel 25 for announcements about scheduled trips and special events. Villagers are encouraged to also check the monthly Activity Calendar and The Village Voice for additional information and announcements. 6

7 Transportation Services Fees Medical Transport Fees are based upon geographical areas, boroughs and regions, including out of state. These are flat rate round trip based fees. All escort fees are additional and based on an hourly rate as shown below. If uncertain, please contact the Transportation Department. New Oxford Borough defined as medical transports within the New Oxford Borough limits... $10 round trip Primary Area defined as outside New Oxford Borough, McSherrystown, Abbottstown, East Berlin and Hanover (individual & after hours trips).. $25 Round Trip Hanover Trips (Block Scheduled Transports) For all medical appointments scheduled between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, in Hanover and affiliates from Eisenhower Dr. to Grandview Road and Midway to Bloomingrove Road. Block Schedule Transportation Rate $15.00/ Round Trip Secondary Area defined as the area south/southwest of Hanover, (south of Grandview Rd.) to the Maryland line, All remaining areas of Adams County including Adams Cumberland Med. Center... $50 Round Trip Dialysis Transport (per day) $60 Greater York/Chambersburg/ Carlisle Area This area includes the remainder of York County, Cumberland County and Franklin County, to and including Chambersburg.... $75 Round Trip Same Day Service fee (local) $25 7

8 Harrisburg/Hershey Area this area covers Harrisburg and Hershey area medical facilities.... $125 Round Trip All Other Areas transportation to medical appointments (i.e., Baltimore, Lancaster, etc.), is based on an hourly rate of $35 per hour (includes time and mileage.) After Hour Transport charge is $63 (Minimum 3 hour charge.) This applies to call-ins from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., weekends and holidays. In all cases, when possible, family or on duty staff should make every effort to arrange alternative transportation arrangements for residents before calling in transportation staff. Transportation Department should never be called for emergency transports or transports requiring stretcher van transports. Other Fees include: Messenger Service Fees Medical Only Hanover Area - $15.00/trip New Oxford - $10/trip Escort Fees by Licensed Staff... $50 per hour Escort Fees by All Other Staff... $20 per hour Non Medical Transport Fees include: Off Campus Van/Auto... $25 per hour plus.56 per mi. (plus escort fee if applicable) Bus... $30 per hour plus.83 per mi. (plus escort fee if applicable) Non Medical Transport Fees, con t. Hour rate applies to the entire time the driver is on the clock for personal non-med transports, if driver is not 8

9 scheduled for any other trips on that day. Mileage and hourly rate applies when return trips are required on different dates. Example Airport transports to the airport one day, then returning from the airport at a later date. Less than 24 Hour Notice Policy: Trips scheduled with less than 24-hour notice...$12.00 Trips canceled with less than 24-hour notice...$12.00 (At Transportation Managers discretion) Villagers should call Transportation direct at to schedule transportation for appointments. 10 Other Available Transportation Services - In addition to the transportation services offered by CKV-TBHC, Rabbit Transit/Adams County Transit Authority (ACTA) services are available to all Adams County residents. Fees for seniors over the age of 65 are subsidized with prior verification of qualifications. Call for more information. HealthStat Med Solutions, another local service also provide medical transports for inter-facility wheel chair van, basic life support (non-emergency or non-911 calls), advanced life support and critical care transports. All vehicles are staffed with by EMT or higher. Call for inquiries or to schedule their service.
