4 Add Hyperlinks to URLs A hyperlink is text within the PDF that, when you move your mouse over it, allows you to click on it and go to a specific URL or even open an addressed to a specific address. Normally hyperlinks are created in the originating program; however they can be made within Adobe Turn on Automatic Detect Feature Adobe Acrobat X will automatically detect URLs and addresses, and turn them into hyperlinks. So, any text including a or myname@provider.com will become a hyperlink. Click Edit > choose Preferences In the Preferences window, do the following: Under Categories, select General Under Basic Tools, make sure the box in front of Create links from URLs is selected NOTE: if your text splits across multiple lines, Acrobat will not recognize the entire URL, for this reason it is important to check through the PDF and make sure all important links are correct. If not, you will have to manually fix the link Last Edited:

5 Create Hyperlinks without Using Auto Detect If you are working with a user who has an older version of Acrobat, which does not have the Auto Detect feature, or if you have Auto Detect turned off because you do not want hyperlinks to be made in every PDF; you can use the same feature manually for specific PDFs by doing the following: Go Tools pane > click Document Processing > click Create Links from URLs In the pop-up window, click Yes to proceed In the Create Web Links dialog box, select which pages you wish to make links for Last Edited:

6 The final window will tell you how many web links were added to your document Tip: To quickly view the links that were made, go to the Content panel under the Tools pane, and in the Add or Edit Interactive Object section, click on Select Object. This will place a black box around any non-printable icons, including your hyperlinks NOTE if your text splits across multiple lines, Acrobat will not recognize the entire URL, for this reason it is important to check through the PDF and make sure all important links are correct. If not, you will have to manually fix the link Last Edited:
