1 Guide to access ACM database Reference and Information Services SIIT Library Proxy setting must be one of the following: proxy.siit.tu.ac.th, proxy2.siit.tu.ac.th, The ACM Digital Library provides bibliographic information, abstracts, reviews and full text articles in computer science and information technology, published in ACM periodicals and conference proceedings from 1950 to present.

2 1 2 The database provides you the option to search all the ACM records or browse by the type of ACM publications: journals, magazines, transactions, proceedings, newsletters, publications by affiliated organizations, or special interest groups. 3 ACM Digital Library: Basic Search Enter the keywords Enter keywords in the search box then click search button to activate your search. 2. The search results will be displayed. - Click the Sort results menu to sort the results by relevance, title, publication, or publication date. - Click Display results menu to define the form for displaying the results: expanded form (bibliography and abstract) or condensed form (only bibliography).. Click the title of article to see additional information: source information, abstract, index terms and related articles link. 4. Click the PDF icon to view and download full text.

4 ACM Digital Library: Advanced Search Advanced Search helps you to use the fields provided to conduct your search based on specific criteria: 1. Enter your search terms in the first text box. (You can type in more than one word separated by a space). The second text box is used for Boolean OR, enter any synonyms or words that related to your main keywords to expand your search results. The third text box is used for Boolean NOT, enter the keywords that you don t want them to appear in the list of search results. 2. If you know the author s name, enter an Author or Editor or Reviewer s last name in the boxes under Name or Affiliation. Then select the option Authored, Edited or Reviewed from drop down menus and also select the type of search (all, any, none).. Limit your search field by selecting Title, Abstract, Review or All Information. 4. If you know the ISBN or ISSN number, enter the number in the ISBN/ISSN text box. 5. If you know the publication information, enter the last name of the author under By text box. Enter the title of the publication under In text box. Select the range of publication dates from the drop down menus Since and Before. If you know the conference information, enter the name of sponsor, conference location and conference year in the text box under the heading Conference Proceedings. 6. Click SEARCH to activate your search.

5 ACM Digital Library: Browse by Type of Publications The database gives you 7 options to browse the publications of the ACM Digital Library: Browse by Journals - Select a journal title from the list of ACM journals. - Publication information of the selected journal will be displayed. - Select volume and issue to browse the contents and full-text articles.

6 The Guide to Computing Literature Enter your keywords for quick search Use The Guide to Computing Literature to search the bibliographic citations and abstracts of works published by ACM and other major publishers in computing. The Guide contains more than 750,000 citations from,000+ publishers, covering: books, journal articles, conference proceedings, doctoral dissertations, master s theses, and technical reports. Basic Search: On the Guide main page, type your word or phrase into the search box. The search engine searches on each word individually as well as on the whole phrase. Put quotations (" ") around the phrase to search the exact phrase. Advanced Search: On the Advanced Search screen, use the fields provided to conduct your search based on specific criteria, such as a keyword or phrase, author, ISBN or ISSN. Customize your search by specifying month and year the item was published. Use these fields independently or combine them.
