4 THE DYNAMAR CONTAINER TRADES REPORTS SERIES Since 2004 Dynamar has been publishing reports on specific container liner trades. In essence, these off-theshelf consultancy studies provide a carrier, whether active in the trade or not, an in-depth survey of the current state of the trade under review. This explains the basis of these studies that in particular aim at providing: An assessment of the size of the trade (full container carryings, trade capacity, port throughputs) An in-depth competition inventory (carriers, services, capacity analyses) Developing on from the earlier single shipping-lane studies, many are now Multi-trade lane studies to and from one specific area. This particular publication is the first one to concentrate specifically upon the intra- North Europe container trade. In that regard it is complimentary to the intra-mediterranean survey of twelve months previously (early 2012). In line with previous reports this intra-north Europe publication covers the following key areas: An Executive Summary and Overview (figures/graphs with some accompanying text highlighting key figures, defining the region, trade structure, ports covered, full container carryings, merchandise trade) An introduction summarising the main developments along the North European-Mediterranean trade of the past few years Summaries of all individual liner shipping services carrying containers, sorted by end-end trade connections Capacity analyses by: o Services as a whole and their individual region-region strings o Vessel operating carrier o North Europe ports called North Europe trade related profiles of the carriers providing vessel based services Container trade statistics (TEU, based upon port container movements) down to country level Summarised trade and port/ terminal developments Summaries of the major global/regional and private container terminal operators in North Europe Port throughputs, where available, for North Europe ports called North Europe specific discussions o Transhipment shares o Intermodal competition Main commodities moving within North Europe Individual, statistical based, North Europe country profiles all supported by well over one hundred and twenty (120) tables and figures. This wide range of factors and subjects make these reports also of particular interest to other stakeholders in the trade areas, including: consultants, container leasing companies, financiers, forwarders, NVOCCs, port authorities, port developers, shippers, terminal operators, training institutes and others.
