The special features of this modern RoRo terminal include efficiency, speed and quality of service in addition to as its outstanding geographical location. Situated directly on the estuary of the Weser and Elbe rivers approx. 11 nautical miles from the Kiel Canal, the terminal sits right at the crossroads of the most important transport routes in Northern Europe. As a specialist in automobile handling, Cuxport offers considerable storage capacities as well as modern installations for loading and unloading complete trainloads and RoRo carriers. Cuxport also provides a broad range of customized services for maintaining and enhancing the value of vehicles. The distribution of finished cars from Cuxhaven to dealers in Germany and surrounding countries also forms part of the service portfolio. 5 All vehicles are registered by an online scanner and data is forwarded for further use in accordance with the customer s specific wishes. The terminal management system (TMS) with a special automobile logistics tool enables customer wishes to be processed with great flexibility and speed. The tool also includes a parking space management system. The terminal has extensive parking facilities for cars and commercial vehicles. Reserve areas are also available in the immediate vicinity for very large freight volumes. 7 Strong backbone modern transshipment installations with fast hinterland links Cuxport has two RoRo berths with a minimum water depth of 13.5 m, two fully automatic stern ramps (with a load capacity of up to approx. 250 t) and a quarter ramp located directly on the River Elbe; all these facilities can be easily reached without deviation or locks. No tidal restrictions. Another RoRo ramp can be used for additional needs at our Steubenhöft terminal. On shore, a double-head ramp with 2 x 400 m long tracks ensures rapid handling of complete trainloads. A third track can be used, if needed, with the help of a mobile ramp. Efficient, fast and expandable connections link Cuxport with Europe s biggest railway marshalling yard at Maschen. Complete trainloads arrive several times a day for unloading at Cuxport and then leave the terminal again shortly afterwards, enabling optimum deployment of the wagons.
