2 Southern Highlands Preparatory School SUMMER CAMP ADVENTURE Summer Camp offers fun-filled summer programs for children ages Each week, campers jump into action, participating in exciting programs, becoming involved in sports and creative arts, playing a part in group activities, and attending special field trips. Our campers have the opportunity to expand their horizons during the summer, embarking on new adventures, and having fun! Our exceptional program and dedicated staff create an environment that forges lifelong friendships among our campers. We create a summer experience that is unforgettable! It all starts with our outstanding camp counselors. A camp is only as good as its staff, and we are extremely proud of ours. Talent, creativity, love of children, leadership and devotion make our camp counselors the heart and soul of the program. Camp counselors and specialists are doing exactly what they enjoy most: spending a summer inspiring campers to explore, reach for new heights, and expand their horizons. Our summer camp gives you choices. Camp includes five days of activities, from 9:00 am 3:00 pm. You can choose to add extended hours and specialty camps to your menu of summer fun. We offer a range of outdoor activities, plus indoor activities conducted in our fully air conditioned facility. Our specialty camps are optional programs, operating during regular camp hours, which provide even more choices for unique and exciting adventures. Science Experiments Field Trip (times TBA) On Campus Event Lunch and Recess Edible Crafts Field Trips & On Campus Activities All Campers Summer Camp at Southern Highlands features a unique selection of indoor and outdoor activities and field trips that take advantage of resources in the local area. Field Trips: Taking a trip off campus is exciting for all campers. Each week there will be scheduled field trips to follow the weekly theme. Along with these field trips we will also take trips to the pool. Whether we are splashing at our Durango campus or floating at the Green Valley Recreational Center, it will assuredly be a good time for all. Pizza Fridays: Each day of the week you will want to come with a packed lunch and healthy snacks. On Fridays, you will have the option to purchase a pizza lunch with drinks and a side for only $5! Change it up a bit and enjoy pizza with your friends. 1:00-2:00pm 2:00-3:00pm 3:00-5:30pm Sports Academy Extravaganza Challenge of the Day After Care British Soccer Camp: challengersports.com Our British Soccer friends will be joining us again for specialty camps the weeks of June and August 3-7. Whether your children are soccer pros, or just beginning to show interest, this is a program where they will truly succeed. Activities are age appropriate, engaging and devised to promote skills and success at every level. *See next page for details

4 Southern Highlands Camp Adventure Each week campers will engage in 9 themed weeks that are relevant, meaningful experiences that allow them to construct new knowledge while connecting to prior knowledge from their own experiences. Our themed activities provide an opportunity for campers to engage, explore and make sense of the natural world through inquiry and project-based learning. 6 Week 1: Aloha! Campers will be greeted with Hawaiian lei s and enjoy a week of all the islands have to offer! Week 2: Junior Olympics Earn your own Olympic medal with high energy obstacle courses and Olympic caliber activities. Week 3: SHPS Goes Hollywood Campers will dress up as their favorite movie star and create their own piece of Hollywood memorabilia. Week 4: Stars and Stripes Campers will prepare for holiday festivities with all things red, white, and blue! Week 5: Sensational Superheroes Go from civilian to superhero in one week thanks to our super science experiments and villainous crafts! S U M M E R 1 T H E M E S 9 Week 6: Yer A Wizard, Harry Embark on a magical journey through Hogwarts during this Harry Potter week with potions and Quidditch! Week 7: Wild Rainforest Adventure Learn about the exciting animals from the rainforest, while also finding new ways to keep our planet green! Week 8: Dreaming of Disney Students will have fun using their imaginations while creating experiments from the movie, Big Hero 6 and Frozen! Week 9: Summer Camp Mash Up Dream It. Make It. Do it.
