It emphasizes the components of visual thinking and visual language that are the basis of design concepts. The course will offer independent application of media and methods in producing two-dimensional and three-dimensional designs. Students will research and develop an in-depth unit study of the work within a students design-career choice. Course Prerequisite: Graphic Design Lab Fee: $10.00 page 1

2 I. Overall Course/Grade Level Standards Students will KNOW and be able TO DO the following as a result of taking this course. A. Students will think visually and communicate ideas in visual ways. B. Students will explore the most important media of design, and understand the limitations and opportunities offered to the designer by various materials and techniques. C. Students will produce well-balanced designs demonstrating various methods and techniques used for creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional works demonstrating growth in making sound aesthetic evaluations. D. Students will analyze complex components of design, and be able to use design language to discuss and evaluate designed objects. E. Students will understand major developments in decorative arts and design as they have occurred since the beginnings of modern design in the later 19th century. F. Students will demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship when producing works of art. page 2
