1 2016 Solutions Alliance Roundtable Logistics Note for Participants 9-10 February 2016 Brussels, Belgium Venue The Solutions Alliance Roundtable will be held the 9-10 February 2016 in Brussels, Belgium at the following venue: Management Centre Europe (MCE) Rue de l Aqueduc Brussels, Belgium Basic schedule Day 1, February 9 8:00 Registration and coffee/tea 9:00 Commencement of the Roundtable 12:30 Seated lunch at the MCE 18:00 Close of the first day 18:15 Cocktails at Hotel Le Châtelain 19:30 Seated dinner at Hotel Le Châtelain Day 2, February 10 8:30 Coffee/tea 9:00 Continuation of the Roundtable 12:30 Seated lunch at the MCE 17:00 Closing of the Roundtable Coffee/tea breaks will be provided during the two days of the Roundtable. There are various ways in which one can arrive at the MCE or hotels in the vicinity. Taxi A) MCE offers you the possibility to reserve your personal pick- up service at approximately the same price as a normal taxi. With this service, your driver will be waiting for you upon your arrival at Brussels Zaventem airport. The fare from the airport to the MCE is EUR 55. Fares are payable directly to your driver (bank cards are accepted). How: Fill out and submit the reservation form at least one working day before your pick- up date. A confirmation will be sent to you as soon as your booking has been processed. For more information, click here. B) You may also take a taxi from the taxi rank at the airport but please be aware that there may be a long queue or waiting time. To avoid this, you can reserve a taxi using Taxis Verts. The fare from the airport to the MCE is EUR Fares are payable directly to your driver (bank cards are accepted). How: If you are travelling with hand luggage, you can call once you get off the plane. If you have checked in baggage, please wait until they appear on the luggage trolley and then call. Within 10 minutes, a Taxis Verts driver will be waiting for you with a sign board in front of the press shop "Le Relay" in the arrival hall. Train You can take the train from Zaventem National airport to the closest train stations, either Brussels Midi/Zuid or Brussels Central. The fare from the airport to either of these train stations is approximately EUR 17 for a standard adult ticket (return trip). Trains depart from the airport every 10 minutes. You must buy your ticket before you board the train in order to avoid an extra fee. For timetables and reservations: rail.be 3
4 Public Transportation From these train stations to MCE, it takes around minutes by public transport. Bus or tram tickets can be bought at the machines at the bus/tram stops for either EUR 2.10 beforehand or EUR 2.50 on board. Please note that if you buy your ticket on board, drivers do not accept notes higher than EUR 5. 5 Getting from Brussels Midi/Zuid to the MCE Take tram 81, direction "Montgomery" (estimated time 20 mins) Get off at the stop "la Trinité" Walk to the MCE (2 min): o Walk back to Rue de l Aqueduc (the street behind the Saint Trinity Church) o Walk left until arrival at MCE, 118 Rue de l Aqueduc 5
6 Airport bus You can take the number 12 bus (or number 21 after 20h) from the airport. The fare from the airport is EUR 4.50 for a standard adult ticket (one way) and tickets are available for purchase from a machine at the bus stop. Please note that you must buy your ticket before you board the bus. Please be advised that a SIM- unlocked GSM 900/1800 compatible international mobile phone is required. Weather The weather forecast in Brussels during the Roundtable is partly sunny, approximating 9 degrees Celsius. Banks are the best place to exchange currencies and charge about 1.25% commission on cash exchange for EU currencies, 1.50 on other currencies, and 6 on traveller s cheques. Power voltage Belgium uses Type E electrical plugs which have two 4.8 mm round pins spaced 19 mm apart and a hole for the socket's male earthing pin.
