11 1st WS: /15 Paris - Visions Results: Ca. 60 Participants, EC vision, Automotive vision, Aerospace vision, splitting the auditorium in three sessions: beyond DMU, Digital Master, Networked Enterprise group-based development of three visions in every session, 3 merged visions, dozens of identified gaps between today's possibilities and visions, hundreds of problems today, Input for an questionnaire Slide 11

12 Content of the 3 parallel sessions The thematic areas (Process, Infrastructure, Applications) were discussed on the basis of 3 scenarios: Session1: A digital master as a central element in the integrated design model of the PLM process (chaired by SIEMENS) Session 2: Beyond geometrical DMU (chaired by Centro Ricerche FIAT) Session 3: Networked enterprise (chaired by EADS CCR) Slide 12

13 Digital Master Vision A Digital Master is the collection of models and processes for the digital representation of product lifecycles. Requirements: Distributed, collaborative Reproducibility Openness Global Flexible Managing risk Human oriented Traceability Scalable Slide 13

14 Beyond geometric DMU - ViP in 2020 Stylist, designer, process-planner etc. work in the same environment which adapts to the context for - comprehensive model (flexible, holistic, project oriented) - consistent version management, - multi-level granularity in different product representations - real-time collaboration, - support & document different alternatives, selection of the best and automatic generation of different product representaion and - multi-user, multi-site. The core data model allows the context and view specific access to data an allows the implementation of new technologies and methodologies. Slide 14

Theme: Technology and Methodology Input: 3 visions (Digital Master, Networked Enterprise, Beyond DMU), dozens of gaps, hundreds of problems results from the questionnaire Evaluation of the vision from other viewpoints, e. g. social, ergonomic, Goals: specification of necessary research and development demands high integration of software-vendors, end-users, SMEs, universities Output: draft roadmap (timeline) demands for tomorrow required technologies/methodologies and their possible impact forecast of those technologies (including alternatives) Slide 17
