3 What is a Timetable? A timetable is your personalized schedule of courses for the semester, including all lectures, seminars and labs Students taking any of the following programs must create a timetable: Bachelor degrees Select certificate and diplomas University preparation

4 Why make a Timetable? Ensures a conflict free course schedule Ensures you have selected all required and linked course components (Lectures, Labs, Seminars) Flexibility to plan work, life and extra curricular activities around your own personalized course schedule It s FUN!

5 When should I create a Timetable? In advance of your earliest registration date After you have selected your course plan A timetable for Winter 2016 should be created at the same time as a timetable for Fall 2015

7 Understanding the TRU Course Schedule Course Schedule Available only online at tru.ca/registration/course_schedules Do NOT use the schedule on your mytru account What information will I find on the schedule? Courses for Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 Section numbers for lectures, seminars and labs Course dates and times, including days of the week Campus room numbers Instructor/Professor names Course capacity Course descriptions

8 Understanding the TRU Course Schedule How are courses scheduled? Monday to Friday Between 8:30 am and 9:20 pm Course duration ranges from 50 minutes a few times a week to 3 hours once a week Plus seminars and labs Entirely depends on the subject Components of the course schedule Lectures: the core course materials are presented by the professors or instructors Seminars: lectures are divided into smaller groups called seminars. Often where you will give presentations, have group discussions, ask questions or review assignments Labs: practical applications of material learned in the classroom, these are required for most sciences

10 Understanding the TRU Course Schedule Course Name: Links you to course details and capacity Lecture Section Number: Indicates different offerings of the same course Course Breakdown: Indicates breakdown of lecture (x), seminar (y) and lab (z) hours for course; helpful when timetabling Ex. 3 lecture hours, 1.5 seminar hours, 0 lab hours

14 Find the Course Schedule on tru.ca 4. Under Pick Your Courses select VIEW THE COURSE SCHEDULE 5. On the Dynamic Schedule, select Fall 2015 (Sep-Dec) under Search by Term Select submit
