3 2009 JMU Field Hockey A Message from the Coach Thank you for your interest in the James Madison University Men s Golf Program. I hope you enjoy reading about all JMU has to offer you as a student and an athlete. JMU is a terrific university that is continually ranked as one of the top public universities in the country. From the beauty of the campus to the outstanding academic programs, this is a great place where you can grow and develop to your fullest potential. The athletic department made a decision in October of 2006 to fully fund the men s golf program in both scholarships and budget. With this commitment from JMU, I am excited about the opportunity to coach and recruit players who will enable our team to compete at the highest level. My objectives each year are to play a competitive Division I schedule, to win the CAA Conference Championship and go to the NCAA Championship. I believe my coaching and playing experience at the collegiate and professional levels will help you become the player that you want to be. Our on-campus and off-campus facilities compliment each other to produce an excellent training environment. In the Plecker Athletic Performance Center, our strength and conditioning coaches hold workouts geared towards improving golf performance. The APC also houses our state-of-the-art academic support facilities to help the student-athlete succeed academically. We have seven-day-a-week playing and range privileges at two local golf clubs (Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club and Lakeview Golf Club -- This is complemented with our on-campus indoor practice facility which includes a putting surface, hitting stalls and top-quality video equipment to analyze your game. Economic major who enjoys soccer and volleyball. Mike Meisenzahl r-junior Medford, N.J./Shawnee Tied for team lead with 10 starts in Finished second on the team with a 73.7 stroke average. Chad Mozingo Sophomore Culpeper, Va./Culpeper County Competed in four events as a freshman. Tied for 21st at the FSU Spring Break Invitational. Enjoys baseball, billiards, ping-pong and hunting. Jack Bonifant Sophomore Silver Spring, Md./ Sherwood Competed in five events as a freshman. Shot a season-low 71 at the Frank Landrey Invitational. Enjoys basketball, billiards, working out and water sports. Garrett Whitmore Sophomore Midlothian, Va./Midlothian Competed in two events as a freshman. Recorded a season-low 71 at the FSU Spring Break Invitational on March 12. Two-time Richmond Times-Dispatch first-team All-Metro. Chris Wellde Sophomore Ellicott City, Md./Centennial Competed in six events as a freshman. Shot a season-low 69 to finish fourth at the 2008 Stono Cup. 8 2009 JMU Women s Soccer Energetic Coach Jeff Forbes Head Coach Third season as head coach of the men s golf program CAA co-coach of the Year. Previously coached the JMU women s golf team from During his tenure, the women s team had three top-five finishes at the ECAC Tournament. Former four-year golfer at JMU and member of the 1991 NCAA Tournament team. Two-time winner of the Heath Award. Played golf at the professional level on five tours. Won one event, had five top-five finishes and 12 top-10 performances during his professional tenure. Helped design and develop Packsaddle Ridge Golf Course in Harrisonburg, Va. which was recognized in 2003 by Golf Digest as the fifth-best new golf course in the nation.
