1 By God s grace we learn to love and love to Learn Newsletter - Autumn Term No.5 Dear Parents This final newsletter of the year is always a list of thank- yous. The next two weeks in particular will be filled with parents, children and school in partnership and whilst I know we can t please all the people all of the time, we won t stop trying to do our best for the children and for you. Great Budworth CofE Primary School Lane Great Budworth Northwich CW9 6HQ We have reluctantly issued tickets for the Christmas performances and appreciate you working together to share them out. So my first thanks go to you. Secondly to the staff who work so hard all year, and then some in December, to keep the learning going through drama, music, art and performance. Thirdly to the parent helpers who give so freely of their time and talent and to FOTS who take every opportunity to raise money for all our children. Please read the list of all the lovely activities going on and call into school and speak to a member of staff if you have any questions. Finally, I encourage you to come and share our Carol Service at 1.30pm on Thursday 22nd December and on behalf of the staff and Governors wish you all a happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year. School Meals Dinner Money for this half term will be Please make cheques payable to Cheshire West and Chester Council Please send your dinner and snack money in separate envelopes, ensuring your child's name details of what snack they would like is on the envelope. You can post these in our secure Post-box which is in the main reception. Dinners will be stopped for anyone owing 40 until the debt is paid. Christmas Fair Our Christmas Fair was held on Saturday 26th November and raised over 1,500 for school. This money will be used to support school visits by paying for coaches to keep costs down for all families. The cost of a coach for 30 children is usually around 200 for a local visit somewhere. My thanks go to the FOTS who worked so hard to deliver the event and to all the families who supported it. Elf Days On Thursday 15th and Friday 16th December we are having our 2 Elf Days. For those new to the school, everyone dresses up as an Elf and we go off timetable and turn ourselves into a Santa's Workshop getting all our Christmas crafts done together. The children will be working in all classes with all teachers. If you haven t been able to find an elf costume, wearing red or green will suffice. If you would like to be an Elf and join us (dressing up compulsory!) please give your name to the office and we will compile a rota. Priority will be given to new parents who have never experienced this exciting and fun filled 2 days. Christmas Lunch and Party Day And on it goes when for our final week we have our Christmas lunch and party day on Tuesday 20th December. In addition to turkey, stuffing and chipolatas there will be traditional Christmas pudding with custard and Christmas biscuits to enjoy. after lunch. If your child doesn t normally have school meals but would like to have this special Christmas lunch, please send 2.20 to the office in a clearly marked envelope. The party comes after lunch and children can bring in party clothes to change into

3 Christmas Service Finally we invite you to our Christmas Carol Service at 1.30 on Thursday 22nd December. The children will sing a medley of songs from the Christmas production as well as musicians and the percussion group contributing. Its always lovely to share in this service with the children by having our parents and friends take part too. Please ring or me if you would be prepared to read at the service. Children will be free to leave after the service with parents. School closes at 3.15pm and Afterschool Club will be by arrangement with Jane. School re-opens on Monday 9th January at 8.50 am. Well Done! It s not only our children who have been working hard to deliver excellent results, Jane Johnson was awarded a 5 star food hygiene rating for Buddies Club last week. Well done Jane! Recycling We have a container in the car park for collecting footwear to be recycled. We re delighted to receive your donations of shoes, boots and wellingtons but would ask that nothing else is donated there as the recycling company does not accept clothes or bric -a -brac.

Please can I stress the importance of arriving at school on time. The number of families arriving after 9 o clock is increasing.
