2 H O L I D A Y I N F O R M A T I O N TOUR DESCRIPTION: This holiday takes place in the enchanting fairytale city of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and the former historical capital of Bohemia. Prague frequently tops the list for the best city break destination, and it is a delight to explore the many architectural gems that remain from its colourful history. We will take time to wander through the Old Town s narrow cobbled streets, and marvel at the many spectacular and often colourful baroque buildings and dramatic gothic churches, visiting the Old Town Hall with its remarkable 15 th century astronomical clock, the Tyn Church, an important meeting place for the followers of the religious reformerjan Hus, and the Kinsky Palace. We will take a stroll to admire the wonderful gardens on Petrin Hill, and hope to follow this with a lunch stop at a favourite restaurant of Bill Clinton s, the Na Nebozizku. We will take time to visit Prague Castle, dominating the city as it looms above the Vltava River, said to be the largest ancient castle in the world. The views of the city are fantastic from here. We can also discover the Jewish quarter, known as Josefov, to which Jews were banished in the 13 th century area and banned from visiting anywhere else in the city. We will travel out of the city to visit the gothic Karlṡtejn Castle, founded by the Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia and intended as a place to store royal treasures. It is beautifully located amongst limestone gorges. ITINERARY: Overnight accommodation: Daily itinerary: Meals: 1: Prague We fly from London Heathrow to Prague. On arrival we transfer by bus or train to our hotel in Prague. 2-5: Sightseeing in Prague and a trip to Karlṡtejn Castle. 3 HOLIDAY GRADE & WALKING PROGRAMME: This holiday is graded SS and our time in Prague is spent sightseeing at a leisurely pace. Much of the sightseeing will take place on foot but we will make use of the public transport system for some areas of the city and during our excursion to Karlṡtejn Castle. We also include a ½ day tour with a local guide that will give you a good insight into the local history. Each evening, the leader will discuss with you the programme for the following day. Should you not wish to join the party, please let the leader know. Travel costs and entrance fees in conjunction with the programme may vary depending on the size of our party and weather conditions. Please allow approximately 45 per person for the duration. Any local excursions taken will be at additional cost. Please note that the estimation of local costs relating to this holiday is based on currency exchange rates valid in April Fluctuations in exchange rates since the publication of our brochure and this Holiday Information sheet may impact on this estimation of local costs; please check with your bank or currency provider prior to your holiday to enable you to plan your spending. TRAVEL INFORMATION: Flights are from London Heathrow to Prague and return with British Airways. Details of your baggage allowance will be confirmed in your travel documents sent to you approximately 10 days before departure. The transfer from Prague Airport to our hotel in Prague will take around 45 minutes. Travel between the airport and hotel will be by train or a private bus transfer. If you are joining and leaving the holiday in abroad, it is assumed, unless you have advised us otherwise, that you will meet and leave the party at the hotel in Prague.. If this is not your intention, please let us know in writing at least 5 weeks before departure. PASSPORTS & VISAS: Please refer to section 2 of the enclosed General Information Booklet. It is a good idea to carry photocopies of the personal details pages of your passport. Should you lose your passport, this may assist with the issue of replacement documents and your return to the UK. Please also take your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you - it will help in the event of an emergency. Please note that the EHIC has an expiry date and check that your card is still valid for the duration of your holiday.

4 Passport, visa and health requirements can change at any time. It is your own responsibility to ensure that you inform yourself from a professionally qualified source on, and comply with, such requirements. Advice on vaccinations is available from your GP, or can be obtained from the Medical Advisory Services for Travellers Abroad (MASTA). In addition, general travel advice is available from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at LOCAL CURRENCY: Please refer to section 2 of our General Information Booklet. The currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech Koruna (CZK), 1 is currently 38CZK. Banks and ATM machines can be found within easy reach of the hotel. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS: Our accommodation is at the three star superior Hotel William, located in the historical part of the city, in twin and single bedded rooms with shower and wc. The facilities in the rooms include a telephone, satellite TV, a safe and a hairdryer. Lunches are not included. CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT: Spring is a favourable time to visit Prague due to the mild weather and flowers in full bloom. Average daily temperature will be around C. In April the weather will tend to have highs of 15 C and you may experience some short rain spells. There are many websites that you can look at to get an idea of the climate of the area you are visiting including: There is always the possibility of rain, and mist can quickly cover the area. We advise you to take a waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing and a fleece. We suggest you take a daysack, lightweight bottle for drinking water, picnic knife, some polythene bags, small first aid kit and a lunchbox. Comfortable walking shoes with good ankle support and moulded soles are strongly recommended for the programme. We recommend that you wear your walking shoes or pack them and some waterproofs

5 in your hand luggage as in the unlikely event that your hold luggage is delayed, you will still be able to participate in the walking programme.
