Response Option Weight Frequency Percentage Percent Responses Means Strongly agree (1) % Agree (2) % Neutral (3) % Disagree (4) % Strongly disagree (5) % Return Rate Mean STD Median 585/3,392 (17.25%) Was the online class you took a good financial investment for you? Question Response Option Weight Frequency Percentage Percent Responses Means Strongly agree (1) % Agree (2) % Neutral (3) % Disagree (4) % Strongly disagree (5) % Return Rate Mean STD Median 586/3,392 (17.28%) What would you have like to have known, before you began your online classes? Return Rate 317/3,392 (9.35%) - A little bit afraid, but now I became to like online classes - A lot.a online tour would be nice - about the book that i am going use like at least a week ahead before class starts Question - All information about the subscriptions and fees for certain use of online required sites to complete homework through. - all the info needed I had before class started. - all the work and rules - Amount of daily course work. - an online class can actually be more time-consuming than a regular face-to-face class because of having to stay-up-to-date on daily announcements, materials to print off, and communicating online with instructors and classmates for questions and discussion boards - As it is one in a series of three, I would like to have known the syllabus for all 3 courses so I could understand better where the current work fits in the overall subject matter. - assignment material. - Because I am not within the U.S., it would be much helpful to know in advance before taking the class whether the class requires an ON CAMPUS Exam/Proctor. - Better computer skills. - Class books weren't always available - Class schedule and grading systems - class syballous and the requirment - Different programs instructors use to teach their classes. It's not only in Canvas but a few other programs. Requires a lot of time and I'm curious if online classes take more time investment vs a class held in a classroom on campus. Options for physical text books versus or in addition to e-text books in advance of starting the quarter. If a student needs to order one outside of the school's bookstore, 2

then there is time to acquire the book. Learning styles differ. - Do not stress about it and ASK QUESTIONS! The system will become more clear as the course continues. - Does online classes affect transferring? - Every professor style is different and the amount material they give. For example one nutrition instructor gave no additional material for the class no powerpoint, vocabulary hand outs, nothing. The only communication I ever had was discussion forum on chapter subject she picked relevant to the chapter we were reading amongst other students. While other teachers are hand on with power point slides, vocabulary handouts, class assignments, discussion boards before exams. - everything I need to know was available. - Everything was explained on the Syllabus prior to class. - Everything was explained very thoroughly before the classes started. - everything went smoothly - Exactly how much work would be done in class and how much outside of class. - For Math, I would have liked to know how much time would be spent doing homework assignments on the mystatlab website. They are very time consuming and frustrating at times. I had no complaints for Psych. - From the standpoint of the online forum I think Shoreline has a far better support system than other online programs (last quarter I took online courses at North). The fact that you offer 24/7 online support is huge, especially for those just learning how Canvas works. Incidentally, I wish someone made people aware of difference in Canvas depending on what type of tech you are using: for instance if I post on my phone using the Canvas app--it never works, but it "looks" like it does--meaning on my phone it looks like I've posted but if I log back in on a desktop computer my post is not there, differences in Canvas for Apple users, and of course differences that present with browsers. These things seem always to become apparent at the worst times. Also, when I post using an ipad there are issues with being able to edit a post, which makes posting with an ipad worthless and makes me wish I never spent the money on one (I bought it strictly to accommodate online class demands and my work travel since I can only have IE on my work computer (and IE doesn't work well with Canvas)...since the issues with posting on a tablet happen, it is virtually a pricey useless toy for me. Now, if you are asking about things we wanted to know before we registered from the class standpoint--i have a lot to say about the particular class I took and things I wish the instructor had told us or made clear or not side stepped, but I don't think you are asking that. - gotta make sure to remind myself of class obligations - have a reliable computer - homework load - Honestly, no attendant and participation points, so I thought that online classes are harder than real class. - how about the professor - How canvas works - how difficult it is to do homework without any prior notification - How difficult understanding course concepts would be in an online class. - How frequently posts are going to happen for classes, as every one is different. I'm taking two online courses this quarter; one requires 3 posts a week and one requires one about every two weeks. Its hard to find a good medium for study time and a good posting schedule. - how great they are - How impersonal it is. - how it all worked and the discussion board you would be required to do. - How long it would have been. - How much discussion work it was and how pointless an online discussion is. - how much group participation was involved. - How much more work they seem to require than an on-campus class. - How much reading you require - How much studying you would do on your own. - how much time it takes - how much time it takes to do all the assignment - time arrangement - how much time you really have to spent on the courses, because i always end up not liking my class, because of the amount of time that we spent on writing and it 3

since english is my second language, i takes me so long to write and thats why online classes are not always a best option for me. - How much we would be using canvas. It is a hybrid class and we only use canvas for occasional instructions and a quiz every other week. - How the lectures were going to be structured. What the differences in class participation were as compared with a face to face class. - How the process of course work would flow - How the structure works. How it is organized. - How they post the assignments differently and some use the calendar but some don't. - how to access - How to copy student files from the CD that came with the text book onto a USB Thumb drive. - How to manage time more effectively - How to plan ahead and how the instructor graded. Not necessary the syllabus but product solutions. Currently, teacher is incredibly meticulous about answers so students are unable to score high in class. Frustrating until the instructor shows how the answers should be given. - How to use canvas. At first it was very difficult to navigate through this website. - how to use the tool - I already knew everything I needed to know - I am a newer in the U.S.. I want to learn new things to prepare for my new life here, especially health care field which I chose for my future career. - I am not in an on-line class, as far as I know. - I am sure some online classes are fine, but my particular instructor makes the experience very negative and makes me feel like I waste money and time. I wuld have liked to know that this instructor would not be available or would not check her messages or class discussion boards. This I feel is very inappropriate as an online teacher, that is the way she teaches and the way I and the class. When a response is granted it is short and negative and very uncomfortable for me as a student. I wish I had known all this. - I am veteran by now with online classes so I do not feel there is much that I would have liked to have known before class began. - I believe the instructors were very clear on the expectation of materials, reading and SCC was clear about the cost of enrollment/tuition. - I didn't know anything about how online classes worked, or how to navigate canvas before beginning my online class. - I didn't know it was online, its only online 1 day a week, the rest is in class - i don't know - I don't know yet. - I enjoyed the class, - I felt like I was pretty well prepared - I felt prepared - I guess I'd like to have known a little bit more about the professors. Not sure that's a reality, though. I have one instructor who completely grasps the challenges presented with online courses and proactively works to mitigate them and keep students engaged. Another instructor seems to have very little awareness of who his students are or what taking his class online actually entails. Again, I imagine it's not a possibility but to know a bit more on how instructors are prepared to teach an online class would be great info to have. - I have a lot of experience with online learning, however I was very disappointed in the quality of this online nutrition course. The instructor (Putnam) submitted a syllabus that contained multiple typos and contet errors, and posted announcements that directly contradicted her syllabus. In addition, she was difficult to get in contact with via , I waited well over 48 hours for responses, if I even recieved one. The assignments were poorly explained and structured, and the tests also contained multiple errors. Overall the class was a frustrating experience, and a waste of Tuition - I have been taking online classes since the beginning of high school, so I really don't have anything I would have liked to have known. - I have nothing to say at this time every went well and smooth - I have taken online classes before so there was not any other additional information that I was needing to know prior to the class starting. - I have taken online classes in the past as well as hybrid. I am already used to it. - I have three online classes. Two are great with fabulous, involved, well organized professors. One is like only a few I have had in the past, where the instructor is way out of touch, uninvolved, just loads the modules onto canvas and does not teach, and is not even up-to-date on the crucial software changes for the very topic of the class (the class is for a Microsoft Program). While my tenacity in communication has brought us to some forward motion with resolving a multitude of issues, it has 4

taken forever, while working through a lot of unaccountability and projection on the part of the instructor. It seems clear that it is likely a situation of a way for an instructor to obtain pay for another class, without actually teaching. I have only had that situation a few times over the past four years, but it is extraordinarily difficult to deal with, and frustrating. - I love the online learning environment it provides a non bias environment and allows you to learn at your own pace - I missed a quiz- just forgot about it- so making sure to know deadlines and to do things as soon as they are available. - I needed the class, so I didn't have a choice. It is as sad as I thought it would be. I'm not sure what I'm paying for except deadlines and credits. - I should have known before that this will be more than challenging than I thought. - I take in class classes? - i taken online classes before - I think I knew pretty much everything because I had taken partial online classes before - I think the best thing to know before taking an online class is that it is more time consuming then going to class. - I unfortunately put too much on my plate this quarter and anticipated spending less time on an online course (as this has been the case for me in the past). I struggled with the content and wish that I had been able to see a professor for help during scheduled hours. Next time I take a math course it will not be online. - I was already informed enough of what to expect with this class that I felt as prepared as I could be. - I went into this fully informed. - I wish I knew beforehand that there were other programs that I had to purchase for my course. I'm taking stats class and I had to spend another 90$ for mystatlab which I didn't know till I was in the course. - I wish I knew that the teacher wouldn't invest any time into helping us. It was pretty much me against the textbook. - I wish I was more computer savvy when I started online classes - I wish I would have know about the professor. She is not very good. - I wish that I would have known more about the business math class. I think that I would have preferred to take this class on campus to receive extra help instead of having to come in. Also, this degree states that is available all online, but not all of the classes are offered online so that makes no sense to me. - I wish there was online inventory for the Shoreline CC Bookstore. I was too trusting, and I believed I could definitely find the textbook there. But I found out the Shoreline Bookstore sold out of my online course textbook the week ahead of the academic quarter. I added the course Week 1 Wednesday. I had to order a used book from Amazon, which did not come for another week. While I waited, I had no choice except to commute from Kirkland to Shoreline CC to use the Shoreline Library Reserve copy of the textbook. The folks in the Library and the downstairs Computer Lab were consistently kind and professional. I have another complaint about the Bookstore staff. When I was upset that they ran out of my textbook, the Bookstore staff-lady blamed the course-instructor for "not ordering enough." I told the instructor the Bookstore blamed her, and she said that she doesn't "set" Bookstore orders. She said the Bookstore controls their ordercounts. She also said the Bookstore consistently under-orders the BUSTC titles. So late-enrolling students each quarter face hassles getting their books and getting their early assignments done on time. - I wished I knew that my English teacher was a biased feminist that turned my English class into a gender studies class. My math teacher is fine and business teacher are great. But that English teacher is very biased and I feel that my English class did not meet my standards. - I would have like to have known how organized the proffesor is and how realistic the work load is/isnt - I would have like to have known more clearly and succinctly the nature of the additional materials necessary for the class, how to utilize them and the margin of error provided for computer based failures. - I would have like to have viewed our syllabus prior to starting the online class so I could better allot my work schedule around quizzes, exams, etc - I would have like to know a little more about the teacher but once the class started I really enjoyed her teaching style and techniques - the posted class lectures are great too, I have really enjoyed all of them and this teacher (Ellen B.). - i would have like to know if the course is offered in a class room setting and how much time and work is needed to get ready for the class. - I would have like to know more about how the online classroom was set up. - I would have like to know, though it may be obvious, how reading intensive online classes are. - I would have liked a better tour of the Canvas website and how it works. - I would have liked if their was a traditional on campus class because I prefer them - I would have liked to been notified of the second service that the economics department uses in addition to canvas called Launchpad, It makes things confusing having assignments due on Launchpad and canvas I would have like to have everything in one place. plus Launchpad service cost me for 6 months minimum access when the class only lasts 3 months. I probably would have not taken the class had I known this. - I would have liked to have known that Criminology 101 would be a class with no guidence, basis for expectation of knowledge or any repetitive way to apply the 5

knowlegde from the readings (assignments or exercises). - I would have liked to have known what the professor was like and how the class would be structured as an online class. - I would have liked to know how the class was going to work. - I would have liked to know how the teacher proctored the class online a lot of things are very unorganized and the teacher doesn't really update the grades a lot. and my second teacher uses canvas for the quizzes and uses a totally different site to proctor the class on. - I would have liked to know more about how to use canvas and how to communicate with my instructors and get feedback. - I would have liked to know that all the classes start on the same day! No confusion on what is due on the first day or not due. - I would have liked to know that you can only work on the assignments for that week you can't work ahead. - I would have liked to know the Nutrition and Fitness class was more time consuming than I thought it was. The information was very thick with scientific detail, that without prior learning and instruction would be hard to understand. The book assigned contained very long winded chapters that was more time consuming and difficult to read than my chemistry class which is worth more credits. I think the class should either be worth more credits or have more straight forward learning material. - I would have liked to seen reviews about the professor before signing up for his/her class. - I would like to have had more access to the books that we needed for the class. - I would like to have known how many times they would like a student to be online and the difficultly of the online course itself because sometimes you rarely have to be online and other times its all the time. - I would like to have known how to use Canvas. - I would like to know how well the past students did with similar online classes. - I would like to know what specific terms we should know because there are too many. - I would rather have taken my classes on campus. My English professor isn't great about teaching the class, participating in discussions, or giving us enough information to base our work on. I would prefer in class discussions, and a more structured learning environment. - I would still prefer the option to have a physical book to do readings with (even with the high price of textbooks, I lose focus when reading on my laptop). This is only an issue with one of the hybrid classes I'm taking, one does have a physical book available. I do enjoy being able to submit assignments online, it's fairly novel since it has been several years since I was in school last! - I'd already taken an online class previously, so I was familiar with the workings of Canvas and such and thus felt reasonably prepared for this quarter's online classes. - If I knew the instructor for one class teaching as if this course is an senior college level (4yr) not junior college (2yr). She made the class uninteresting due to too many hoops to jump thru. Apparently she just got her teaching certificate, because she's teaching straight from the book. - If the class was going to be faster and harder without seeing the teacher. - I'm familiar with online classes and felt adequately prepared. - I'm well knowledge with what i expect through learning from online classes. - In my Geology class, it would have been helpful to know the amount of materials which related to the class, even though it was online, such as the rock kit being used, and the cost.. - is it cheaper than a class offered on campus? - It needs self-control. - It was a Hybrid class so it was apart of my class on campus, I didn't mind it. - It would be nice to know a little more about the schedule of work due for a class before signing up. For example, the traditional classes tell you which days of the week the class will take place. For online versions, it would be helpful to know if modules are once a week or cross over into weekends, or even approximate number of assignments weekly. It would help me plan whether I can take one or two courses each quarter, as I work full time and balance it around my work schedule. - It would have been nice to be able to preview the syllabus before the first official day of class to determine if it was a fit for my schedule or was going to meet my expectations. - It's hard to get a good teacher-student experience, the experience you will get in class face to face will always be better at least for me, because if you have questions, they will be answered easier in class, right there. It takes a while for communication to get through. Lessons online are tough to understand sometimes. - I've taken online classes before, and I kind of know what to expect. - I've taken online courses before and I was quite comfortable with it. - I've taken online courses before, feeling like a veteran by now. - Just, I believe that I should be good at using Canvas for taking online classes. 6

Online classes could be harder than the hybrid classes because it requires many things to do. - Lab requirement of discussion boards - Level of difficulty of class - different instructors have WIDELY different workloads. This quarter, one of my classes has about 100 pages of reading, plus one-two movies and web articles. Another class in a previous quarter had 30 pages (of similar content/difficulty/etc) a week. The variability makes taking online classes frustrating. There needs to be more standardization t complete, but more. - Many of the books cannot be returned because they come in a "convenient hole-punched binder version" so I ended up spending $300 on required textbooks through SCC without any chance of a partial refund. - More about how the online classes worked - More about the professor and whether or not they're good. - More help with making sure we purchase the correct books for the online courses. I bought three books on Amazon for 2013 versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Word 2013 book was a Benchmark series, but I found out late that I needed Signature series, although the Benchmark series for Excel and PowerPoint were correct. Just wish this could have been highlighted more as I would think its a common mistake. - More practice with using the online class, for first time uers of online methods. - More specifics about where things are located in canvas. I know how to use canvas, and have used it for several quarters, but often have to look for specific assignments under each tab. - My class is hybrid and I hate that it eats my entire weekend. I avoid online classes whenever possible. I hate last minute instructions and having things due on Saturday and Sunday. - My class was online with once a week meetings for lab. However, the labs were not reguired every week and I would have liked to know that ahead of time. This would play an important factor in my enrollment in another online based class. - my friends said this teacher is good, and the course is not that hard, so that i could take 20 credits. 7

I have taken more than 5 online courses through SCC, and have not once had a problem communicating with staff or understanding Canvas. It has been a very effective process overall.. - NA comment comment to be had ne ne ne. t applicable...very familiar with the system. t much t to procrastinate. thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing? thing because this online class provided all the info that I needed before the class started. thing everything i needed to know for the class was offered by teacher through and canvas. thing everything was answered thing I can think of thing I don't take an Online Class, I take Hybrid thing in particular. Everything was as expected. thing more than that was presented. thing out of the ordinary thing r thing really. thing really. It seems pretty straight forward. thing related to the Canvas experience. 8

thing special. thing that I can think of thing, everything was done to perfection! thing, have taken several online classes thing, I had experience from my last online class. thing, I new ahead of time what I was going to need for the class and was prepared. thing. thing. thing. The instructor was very good about stating her expectations and the time commitment towards the class. thing. I found that everything was straight forward. thing. i took several online class before. thing... - on line tuition fees - Online class structure and online learning system navigation. - Online classes are not easy and you have to be self-motivated. - online classes is harder than in-classes so need to becareful - oooo - Percentage of online class time, assignment due dates - Rate my professor - required textbooks and materials - Requirements such as how often we would need to have access to a specific program or device. - Requirements to run canvas on a computer. (Recommended specs) - Right in the beginning of the quarter, its nice for the professor to post a section on how they run their class. Each online class is a little different and to help smooth the beginning, a tutorial or page on how to use this course would be effective and usefull! - Some courses require specific operating systems which are not indicated in the class description. I had to drop Excel 2013 this quarter because I didn't realize it required Windows 8.1 which I did not have. - Some of the extra costs, like the cost of the Sibelius software. - Some teachers make online courses extremely beneficial while others make the class a complete headache. Just like with in-person classes, the teacher can structure classes almost anyway they choose but when that is done in an online class, it is felt way more. One of my online classes was fantastic. It was challenging and engaging and the structure was great and the expectations were clearly defined and understood. The other class though was a total disaster. Totally unorganized and confusing. I would get multiple s answering one question I asked with two differing answers! It was like I could sense even online how crazy and disorganized this teacher was. I heard great things about the class and teacher so I took it, but it would have been nice to know that unorganized teachers make for terrible online classes. - Sorry, but this whole survey is a little vague to me. Honestly, I didn't even know I had an on-line class. My hybrid ANTH&100 must have been the motivating factor behind my qualifying for this survey. At the risk of sounding like a Neanderthal, at the age of 55, and returning to classes after a brief 35 year absence, I prefer a face-toface scenario as opposed to an impersonal experience of "any" on-line activity. Don't get me wrong...i enjoy the benefits of new technology, but I also believe that it adds to an overall "less than human" cultural malaise that could be entropic to society as a whole. - Syllbus - teachers name, days of class, lesson plan, hard dead lines, soft dead lines, major assignments. - Textbooks with access codes are very expensive. Much more than traditional class books. - Tha lag of interaction between classmates. - That a book was available for rental in the library. The teacher mentioned it was in the syllabus, however the desk where you normally rent books told me they didn't have it. After I bought the expensive textbook with a loan two weeks into the quarter, the professor specified where the book could be rented. - That absolutely needed a textbook, and that it would take more effort than a normal face to face class 9

- That balancing sports, work, and school work is not easy to do - That depends on which online class you are asking me about. Two of my classes are fantastic but one is frustrating. - That each professor will have a different lay out to their classes. - That I had to dedicate 15 hour to homework each week. - That i need new computer and other expenses on computer wise set before the course. Apparently the canvas dont like my 3 years old computer and sent me message that my computer is too old to bee comparable with canvas system. Also that 90 % of the study time would be probably wasted on computer issues and mostly learning how the hell the solve the canvas issues. And after most of my time is wasted on computer perhaps its time to take computer programming classes instead of my study subject so i could get little bit home work done for the Clean Energy Program. So at the end of the day yes its WTF questions? So should every student have new computer beginning of the quarter always? - That I needed an extra access code that costs $85 - That I needed an in class experience for my first quarter to fully understand and comprehend the materials/tools. I did not know that there were two software keys for the program and initially used the wrong one and got behind. An orientation for this class would've been helpful. - That I would need to come to school to take the class anyways on the Music Lab computers, because I don't have the software required to complete the assignments... ( by the way the software I am talking about is called Sibelius, and it costs on average $ to purchase...) - That I'm a person who does better with consistent in person lecturing/interaction. - That is was just watching youtube videos and doing work.. i could do that on my own - that it is difficult to get feedback on problems. - That it is much harder to learn online without face to face guidance. Learning in a classroom environment everyday is much more interactive, compared to a teacher saying read these sections and have this homework turned in by a certain date. - That online classes require more work and self discipline. - That other area community colleges offer a better variety of traditional face to face classes at night time. - That prior experience with programs such as MS Word, and MS Excel is required. Otherwise you struggle to learn those at the same time, and in essende is an additional unexpected class. - That some of the assignments might have a vague description, so I could have prepared more before the class started. - That some of the tests were due before 8pm. My other two classes had that available. - That some teachers are intensive in their reading assignments. - That the class was more online then in class - That the homework style was quite different than a face-to-face class and that the teachers do not use a text book for reference. - That the instructor would do little to no teaching and would instead only assign readings and provide no feedback on graded assignments. - that the textbook was available in the library. - That the workload for one of my classes would be as heavy as it was. - That there would be issues with downloading MS 360. It helped to put me in a struggling mode this whole quarter. - That they are not as hard as they appear. Would have saved me a lot of pre stress before I did the first test and found out it was not as difficult as it appeared. - that when i can start working on an assignment is controlled - That you really need to be organized and know how to spend your time well. - That you should check it on a regular basis. - The amount of work it took - The amount of workload. I've taken many online classes in the past, but this quarter I feel like there is so much busy work. I understand that is expected and I actually enjoy busy work...but this quarter is a little insane. - The canvas mobile app does not support some requirements like quizzes - The dates that certain instructors require for in class testing ahead of registartion - The instructor does not post the due date on canvas' home page, I have to go to the class to see all the due dates. - The more information on how it works, the deadline, what needs to be done on time without being far behind on your work 10

- The online class is time consuming. I have no access to computer when I receive messages through my smart phone. I still like the face to face class because there is more interaction than online class. - the procedure - the real amount of time you spend "learning on your own" vs being taught by an instructor - The required 'textbook' is an online e-smartbook but it is not listed either in the class description or in the bookstore as part of the required texts (because it must be bought at the online site). This particular e-book (as opposed to the hardcopy) has made the class easier in many ways so I might have chosen it as opposed to the other section which requires the hardcopy text but I would have liked to know what I was buying before the class started. I chose the class based only on the online reviews of the professor. - The set up of the school website and Canvas was little confusing so it was difficult to start. It would have been nice to see what the text book is before taking the class, just to be prepared. - The Shoreline no longer uses Blackboard - The style of the assignments and exams. - The syllabus would have been nice to read. - The teacher desire of class. - The things I needed to know were provided to me by the instructor at the beginning of the course. - The total cost of the textbook and the online portion of the class, and that the class is ONLY taught form the 9th edition. - The type of work that was to be done. There are some online classes that have group projects, and others that are discussion based, while others are report based, still others being experience based. It would be nice for the instructors to make expectations and coursework clear at the beginning of the quarter. - the whole class work for the full quarter so I can adjust other classes and be able to work on both and not have to wait as I do things that ould appear easy first and then spend time on the difficult topics. I like to get copies of the research materila early to read and then reread later when I am on that work to get turned in. - There are lots of fees. We even pay for the student union building where most if not all of the students do not step foot in the campus. - There is no textbook for one of the classes, which I knew about. I did realize how difficult it is for me to read online. I have to print out each article and then file it. So far, there are about 40 articles - There isn't a ton of flexibility with this class. I expected to be able to accomplish more over the weekends (the only time I am really able to focus). - There nothing in particular that I was curious about. - there were no surprises. Everything worked out perfectly. - This teacher isn't very descriptive, or organized. - Tim admitted during the first week that he was building the class from scratch as we went. I assumed he at least had a lesson plan but as the weeks went on it was apparent he did not. Had I known this I would have dropped this class the first week. He constantly opened assignments late, when he finally did upload assignments they were confusing and disorganized. Tim is not suited for online courses as he seems to be under the impression that his students have flexible schedules that can change and revolve around his personal timetables. I am very disappointed in the lack of preparation Tim made for this class. As students are expected to be prepared so should teachers. - Time flexibility - Time it takes to do assignments - To know how to use canvas better. But, that's not an issue as I took my time to learn it. - to see the teacher teaching ways like see materials before talking her classes or his - Totally happy this quarter. I did do an online math class another quarter that required on campus test. Had I known this I would never have taken the class as I am working around my husbands and 2 children's schedules. I was super stressful I could have taken something else had that been known. - tutor fee - Unsure. - Wether or not we would be needing the online access code for our textbooks. But that's something I can the instructor about. - What books and programs are needed to obtain course material. - What kind of teacher I would have. With online classes sometimes its harder to reach them for whatever reasons they may have. - What the workload would look like. 11

- When it start and How it works - when it would be offered in future - Where all things needed to complete assignments are located. - Where could I get help if I don't understand the material? - Whether the instructors for each online / hybrid class I'm taking actually know how to use the canvas system adequately or not (two of my teachers are actually opposed to making use of Canvas for class work and communication, I have to come in to the computer lab at school to be able to access class files, I can't access them on canvas, the other teacher doesn't respond to requests for info on assignments graded using canvas. - whether there are books we should have in-hand to read or study for the online class. - Which classes require you to get online daily, and which ones only require a few times a week. Also, classes should have video's of instructor rather than so much reading material. The truth is we read the material, take a test for a grade only to realize at the end of the quarter you did so much reading you never got to really learn anything. All your doing is reading for a quiz rather than reading/watching and interacting to actually get the concept. - who the professor leading the course was going to be. - Workload.. syllabus 7 - Did you experience any technical difficulties when taking a class? Response Option Weight Frequency Percentage Percent Responses Means Yes (1) % No (2) % Unanswered (3) % Return Rate Mean STD Median 584/3,392 (17.22%) Question 8 - Was the technical support sufficient for your class? If not, why/please explain Return Rate 309/3,392 (9.11%) Apparently not, since 2 of my online instructors are unable to or prejudiced against using the system - At the moment, I haven't encountered any technical difficulties yet. - because the ask you to download other things such as panopto recordings - Cengage is a horrible company to deal with. The customer service is horrible and there always seems to be a problem with quiz scores getting to the instructor. - Combined two online classes which lost my classes work. Wasn't that big of a deal, but was annoying to have to redo assignments. - Did not ask for tech support. - Did not need - Did not use technical support - didnt need any - didn't use it - didn't use it - Eventually - everything is perfect - Everything seemed to be working well most of the time. - Feedback was given within four days. - Has not used tech support. 12

- Haven't used it. - I am not sure whether it was the technical problem or not. I was unable to see some photos during the exam in the first attempt. However, I got some helps from my professor as soon as I asked her. Even though it was quite bad result in the first attempt, in the second attempt I got a good score without matters. - I did not ask for technical help. - I did not need any technical support for this class. - I did not need to use technical support this quarter. - i did not really use it because i just talked to the teacher - I didn't have any problems. - I didn't need any technical support. - I didn't need any, I'm familiar with Canvas. - I didn't need tech support - I don't like that I am automatically enrolled in a separate class that I cannot remove from my drop-down list. - I guess it is, because some problems of my classmate are resolved. - I had great help from a teacher, he broke down the steps for us really well and it was understandable. He wast rude like others. - I had no issues, this class worked well. - I had no technical support - I had to wait to get my free version of Microsoft Office 365, due to tech issues, but it was resolved in a timely manner and my instructor new about the issue. - I hadn't reached a solution. I use an ipad and find Canvas doesn't work with it for some things like links, videos, this evaluation. Posting on Canvas is horrible with an ipad. There are problems with the app, but Canvas technical support wasn't helpful. - I have yet to use technical support. - I haven't needed technical support yet. - I haven't really needed any - I keep asking about video that I could not open because I wasn't unauthorized. I never got respond to the problem. - I live in Arizona and campus is in Washington. The tech support has a "leave us a message and we will forget to get back with" policy. I had to go through various levels of campus personnel before I was given any help. - I never used it. - I suppose. We worked through it. Canvas just wasn't processing assignment submissions at the time, and "behaving" like a computer that needed to be rebooted. However, the professor and I worked through it - I think enough. - I think so. - I want to say that the SCC instructors, IT staff and registration staff are able to address or help you find the resources you need to address technical issues, if there are any. - I wouldn't know, never used it! - It was. - IT wasn't any help to me at all when I did try to reach out to them several times. The first level sent me off to another level that was always waiting for higher level tech to help and I still ended up having to ask my husband to do fix it for me. I didn't want to brother him. Good thing he is a genius. (Certified MENSA) - It's fair. - Mostly, some of the files that were provided could not be accesses with my internet browser and I had to try three new ones to open the file. - My prof. was not able to open my documents. - N/a 13

- NA - na - nah, i can never get anyone to answer their s or whatever with anyclass even the face to face ones anyway - never had a chance to use it - never used - Never used technical support. - One of the classes is taught through tegrity and Mcgraw Hill. Although I have had no issues with tegrity learning the course through Mcgraw Hill is extremely frustrating. The program constantly locks up and kicks me out. Also when trying reading through the chapters there are constant references made to other pages and it can be very frustrating navigating between them. The program also does not allow you to easily reference between the homework and the book unless you have multiple windows open and that will cause the program to lock up as well. Mcgraw Hill is a horrible way to try and learn a class. need for technical support. there was no technical support my teacher just told us to go to the after class help center., the teacher was the one who was very unorganized and so the hybrid class was a problem. I didn't hear of any technical support. ne 14

ne was required. pe t able to take quizzes on canvas mobile app t applicable for me at this time. t applicable, everything's been just fine so far! t applicable. t applicable. No issues. t really, the instructor still hasn't been able to update the due dates/list of assignments. It is Feb. 13. t really, wasn't fast enough t required. - okay a little late as I try to ask questions and do not get responses in a good time frame or never get a response. - One issue: Canvas text entry on a mobile device is a total disaster when the "rich text editor" is used. The HTML one is a bit better. However, when (not if) the submission fails, it doesn't remember anything. The rich text editor is also suboptimal on my Mac laptop. - Pretty sufficient. It took me awhile to figure out how to mail the teacher on canvas - professor Worley had change her point of view about BD and its difficult when you want add, delete - Some of the classes require or recommend tools which are not supported my the version of IE that I use (the latest version). The "fix" is always to use Chrome or Firefox, which I really do not like to use because of low security protocols. I got a virus from using Google Chrome and had to have my laptop completely reimaged. This is a huge inconvenience. - Some pdf files didn't work for me. - Some what - Still taking the class(it's only mid-quarter) so there is opportunity here. - sure - teacher did a good job at addressing tech diff, but was sometimes slow in doing so. - Tech support was acceptable. - Technical difficulties stemmed around using Tegrity, and online McGraw-Hill. Had to purchase a different computer and had better success. - technical difficulties with my device and internet access...didn't use support. - Technical support told me online that my computer ( 3 years old ) is too old for class. Also Canvas shows is different operating systems different info for my class. And sometimes its locked when i use a device. It sucks - Technical support, on more than one occasion told me I should consider further training in Canvas when all along it was their failure to not research my complaint which incidentally turned out to be a problem on their end. Also, until I continued to complain even my instructor was hesitant to investigate the problem. Issues like this should not happen, at least not to the degree of transferring blame onto the student. - Thankfully I had no need for technical support - The only times I have issues is downloading PDF formats and the professor not receiving it. - The problems were with my Windows Tablet: Communication errors with Canvas and other online learning labs It was unable not allowing Adobe downloads but the instructor was able to offer solutions Certain Canvas submissions would not actually submit and the page froze - The professor worked around the glitches and I wasn't penalized for things outside our control. It's added stress though. I end up taking screenshots of everything so I can prove I submitted my assignments. - The support for canvas is great. However web conferences continue to be required and problematic. - The technical support I sought from My Stats lab as well as from other resources were of no help and when technological concerns were expressed to the professor no additional assistance was offered. - There was a problem getting a Canvas account quickly enough. My fees had to clear overnight before. I registered online Week 1 Wednesday, and I paid Thursday. I did not get Canvas-access to my online course until Friday. I really had to hustle to finish the Week 1 assignments due by Friday midnight. 15

- There was a Word only option in this class and working from a Mac it was a little tricky. Between the professor and I we worked it out. - Very confused with the grading system, if you turn in a report or quiz you receive an instant zero, at this time I have several zero's and am waiting to see my actual grade when they are graded. - Video lessons were working at the beginning and half way through the course. At present, I am unable to open the lessons. I have not researched it the problem is on my end, however, I have not updated anything on my laptop since the course began. - Was told the class was available to view on canvas before the start of term, and then canvas wouldn't let me view it. Also using WAMP sometimes I would put the correct answer but because of the specific way it needed to be written from a tech standpoint I would loose points. - we didn't need technical support. - We weren't able to watch any videos in the classroom that my teacher had prepared. They did not fix the problem - While using Safari all of the sudden in week 6 I was unable to submit my assignments to both online courses and was required to download a whole new program just to get cavas to work again. - Yea - yea 16

17

- YES 18

and no. They fixed the problem but it took time that I didn't really have. and no. They would fix the problem but then if I had something to work on I wasn't able to work on it for a certain amount of time. - answers to questions are always very thorough and prompt it turned out ok it was it was it was. it was. Canvas had some problems that were not the Instructors fault. it was. Like stated above, I was having difficulty navigating through canvas so I didn't know where to submit my work at.!,, advisor very helpful, again, I really love your 24/7 support--it works fast, easy and the people doing the support so far have been great. With North you had to depend on a 3 person office that rarely answered the phone during business hours, rarely could fix an issue over the phone and that meant driving all the way to campus to help with issues they still couldn't quite fix., because I get many materials., because the instructor was easy to reach and communicated back to me. She was very helpful., between my instructor and the help desk, all problems were solved in a timely fashion., for me everything i learned is enought and didnt have any difficulties., I called the number for the Canvas HelpDesk and it was resolved quickly, and it was just my own unfamiliarity with the set up. Easy fix., I didn't encounter any issues., I guess!, if needed., it was sufficient., it was sufficient., it was., it was., it was., most situations got resolved promptly., my classmates, teacher and other tech support helped me solve my difficulties with the online class., other than some issues with Respondus lockdown that couldn't be solved on my old laptop - YES, Shoreline online support is doing excellent job help all the technical questions., somehow the technical support was sufficient for me., technical support is available although it wasn't needed this quarter, thank you!, the instructor went over the basics of how to use canvas., the technical support for my classes is very good so far. 19

, the technical support is very good., they helped be get through the difficulty of my They were very helpful and got me to where I needed to be so that I wouldn't miss my online conferences.. Although I have not have had any problems, the support members answered the questions of my classmates efficiently.. I always received great help when I called the college.. If we have any questions our teacher is great at giving us feedback. The only technical support would have been spell check on my typed Canvas support, all the SCC/TSS, and even the "Instructure" 24/7 chat line availed it's prowess to me in a very timely and advantageous way. 20
