1 Course Information Notes *Please see Timetable for venue times and course start dates. All courses take place at Codsall Community High School unless otherwise stated. Computing for the Terrified Introduction to the Internet These courses are aimed at learners with no prior experience or very little previous access to a computer. Courses will start at various dates throughout the year (see Timetable). To reserve your place on one of the Codsall Library courses contact our Community Education Office: Introduction to taking Photographs and Manipulating your Images Learn how to get the most from your digital camera and computer. Find your way around those camera settings to make your picture perfect. Transfer the pictures across to your computer, file them and find them again when you want them. Learn how to: enhance photographs, be more creative, resizing for , printing, improve old photographs, remove red eye. Everything catered for in this fun enjoyable course. Photoshop Elements is being used but techniques can be applied to other programs. You are welcome to bring along your camera if you have one, however this is not essential. A basic understanding of computer/mouse/keyboard is required. 1

2 How to use your Tablet Devise Frustrated by gadgets or trying to get to grips with your device? Come along to one of our courses and learn how to keep yourself and your device up to date, as well as tips and a guide to the best of free apps and books. It can be an opening to a whole new world! No previous knowledge is required for these courses, please bring along your own device. Clockmaking & Hobby Engineering This well established course gives the learner the opportunity to create a working clock from scratch. Codsall is one of very few centres which offer a course of this type. Model making and light hobby engineering projects chosen by individual learners are also included. This is a club class, a low fee is payable to the organiser. For more information Contact: Alan Taylor Art for All Levels, Part 1, Term 1, 11 weeks This programme is aimed at learners with a basic grasp of art skills. Weekly sessions will explore how to use various mark making mediums and drawing techniques e.g. pencil, charcoal, pastels. All work produced will build into a personal portfolio of artwork to progress to the next level. Art for All Levels, Part 2, Term 2, 11 weeks ( Painting - All levels ) This programme is aimed at learners seeking to develop basic painting skills. Weekly sessions will explore selected paints to learn how to mix, blend and apply painting techniques to fine art drawings. All work produced will build into a personal portfolio to progress to the next level. 2

3 Art for All Levels Using Your Own Media, Term 3, 8 weeks This programme caters for learners with some knowledge of general art skills and those who have completed the Art All levels - Parts 1 & 2. Weekly workshop sessions will provide learners with opportunities to work in the media of their choice and to extend their art portfolio. Completed work will be used to enable progression on to the Art Intermediate programme. Art intermediate Part 1, Term 1, 11 weeks This programme is aimed at the more advanced learner allowing for a greater degree of independence. Tutor led exercises will encourage learners to extend their creative use of art materials and critical thinking. The work will focus on a deeper exploration of varied subject matter, materials and working processes. All work will be supported by research and experimentation. Learners will also study the techniques of other artists to develop their own artistic style. Work produced will enable progression on to the next level. Art intermediate Part 2, Term 2, 11 weeks This programme is aimed at learners wishing to build on their previous knowledge to extend their creative art skills and independence. Tutor led exercises will focus on producing work in response to a main themed project. The method of working will encourage independent research skills and critical thinking to assess and produce creative prep studies to support and influence final work. All work produced will enable progression to Art Intermediate using your own media. 3

4 Art Intermediate Using Your Own Media, Term 3, 8 weeks This programme is aimed at learners still seeking to build and develop their skills to work with greater independence. They will also be encouraged to take greater control of their work through self-directed studies. Working methods will require them to produce new work for a personal project. They will choose the theme or topic on which to base their work. All work produced will be carried forward for a final review. Italian Beginners, Term 1, Part 1, 11 weeks I you have a passion for all things Italian then this course is for you, come along to learn how to describe yourself, order food, book a hotel or ask for directions. Learn about Italian culture and begin to converse with locals whilst on holiday. A fun interactive course for complete beginners. Italian for Beginners, Term 2, Part 2, 11 weeks A progression course from term 1, you will learn the basics of the Italian language. By the end of this course you will be able to hold a short conversation as well as learning a little about the Italian culture, traditions and lifestyle. Holiday Italian for Beginners, Term 3, 8 weeks This short course is packed full of useful phrases, vocabulary and useful information for those who intend to holiday it Italy. You will learn how to introduce yourself, how to order food and drink, how to ask for simple directions and much more. You will learn in a friendly environment accompanied by Italian music and food tasting. 4

5 Italian Intermediate, Term 1, 11 weeks A lively Interactive course for those who have a basic knowledge of the Italian language and would like to develop their skills further. This course is tailored to suit your requirements and will cover cultural topics as well as grammar, pronunciation and oral language. There will be ample opportunity to practice your written skills and to put into practice what you learn through role play and oral practice. You will watch and listen to a variety of videos on various topics and each session will provide an opportunity to chart your progress. Conversation Italian, Term 2, 11 weeks The focus of this course will be to strengthen your spoken language and your listening skills, each session will include a video on a variety of topics such as Italian culture, current events and topics of your choice. You will practice the Italian language by chatting informally, preparing a short dialogue and through the use of games and quizzes. A basic knowledge of Italian is required. Holiday Italian, Term 3, 8 weeks This is a short intensive course packed full of useful information for when you re holidaying in Italy. A lively atmosphere with topics such as: how to order food and drink; how to ask for directions; how to make reservations and much more. You will learn in a friendly environment and you will have access to Italian videos, dialogues and music to aid your learning. A basic knowledge if Italian is required 5

6 Yoga Enjoy both spiritual and physical benefits through a variety of yoga exercises and meditation. These courses are suitable for all ages and abilities. Therapeutic Yoga Yoga is an ancient system of practices designed to bring about health and well-being on every level, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Therapeutic Yoga practice is yoga in its kindest form: Gentle stretching and strengthening muscles to revitalise and gain control of the body with a focus on joints for greater flexibility.
