3 Arts Rotation Introduces 6 th grade students to a range of experiences in four Arts courses. Nurture student interest, talent, and appreciation of the Arts. Each Arts course is one marking period. Students are randomly assigned four courses within the Arts Rotation.

4 Art Introduction to fine arts through a variety of projects related to World Studies curriculum.

5 Students explore various mediums and tools, while learning techniques and skills. Art

6 Introduction to Computer Applications 6 th Grade Arts Rotation Students are introduced to a variety of computer applications. They learn important and useful skills they will use throughout their life.

7 What Skills are Taught? Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts of desktop publishing as they begin to learn how to make their documents look crisp, clean, organized, readable and professional. Students get instruction in the following applications, as time and technology allow: Microsoft Word 2010 PowerPoint 2007 Turbo Typing (keyboarding tutorial) Inspiration (students learn to create graphic organizers) Publisher (students use templates for a variety of documents) Scratch and Alice (beginning animation)

10 Introduction to Design and 3-D Modeling is a 6 th grade course as part of the Arts Rotation. Students are randomly assigned courses in the Arts Rotation. Accelerated Pre-Engineering Pathway Introduction to Design & 3-D Modeling: Grade 6 9 weeks Gateway To Technology-A/B: Grade 7 full year Introduction to Engineering Design A/B: Grade 8 full year Principles of Engineering: Grade 9 full year Other HS or AP Credit Courses Pre-Engineering Pathway Introduction to Design & 3-D Modeling: Grade 6 9 weeks Gateway To Technology-A: Grade 7 semester Gateway To Technology-B: Grade 8 semester Introduction to Engineering Design A/B: Grade 9 full year

16 Music Exploration 6 th Grade Arts Rotation Explore various aspects of music through performance, listening and responding, music literacy, and history and theory. Perform and experience music of many different styles, genres, and cultures. Read and interpret music using the voice and the guitar. Learn the basics of playing guitar including playing melodies and chords. Learn how to listen to music intelligently to recognize what we are actually hearing when we listen to our favorite songs.

17 Award winning choral group made up of 6 th grade young men and women. Exciting course designed to strengthen the voice, sharpen skill in music, and perform with friends and classmates. Perform a wide variety of choral music including classical, pop, musical theatre, folk, rock, and more. Explore the fundamentals of musicianship and choral singing including reading and interpreting the score, vocal health and sound production, and singing within an ensemble. Perform in two major concerts and participate in performance field trips including a music competition and celebration in an amusement park. Excellent opportunity to make new and lasting friends. 6 th Grade Chorus

18 Instrumental Music at Pyle

19 Have the opportunity to try new instruments to improve the group sound. Perform two concerts each year. 6th Grade Band Learn the fundamentals of woodwind, brass and percussion performance. Explore the basics of music theory including scales, rhythms and vocabulary. Play music from a variety of styles and historical time periods, from Bach to Rock. Team oriented environment, a great way to make new friends.

20 6 th Grade Orchestra String specific instruction for violin, viola, cello and bass. Differentiated instruction for all levels of performance from advanced to beginner. Opportunity to play in a full string ensemble. Perform music from a wide variety of styles to improve musical technique. Perform two concerts each year.
