2 Introduction Novartis PowerPoint Template User Guide Within the scope of the Novartis brand reaffirmation, the Novartis PowerPoint presentation templates have been adapted according to the new Novartis brand design Menu functions have been adjusted and new ones added to make the new templates as user friendly as possible The layout of Novartis PowerPoint presentations has changed (position of logo, font size and style, etc.) The former blue background presentation was replaced by a tanned background presentation (tint of the Novartis brown) All new Novartis PowerPoint presentations should be created with the new template and all existing PowerPoint presentations (internal and external) should be converted into the new template with immediate effect This user guide will introduce you to the new Novartis PowerPoint templates and ease its use for you Contacts: For branding-related questions, visit the Novartis Brand Service website or contact the NBS team nbs@novartis.com For IT-related issues, please contact your local IT helpdesk 2 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only

6 How to open a new presentation Novartis PowerPoint Template User Guide To set up a new presentation, open the PowerPoint program, go to File and select New Novartis Presentation You can choose between several Novartis templates White background presentation including image on title slide (standard presentation) White background presentation without image on title slide Dark background presentation including image on title slide Dark background presentation without image on title slide Select between different templates (white/dark background; with/without image) 6 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only

9 How to modify a title slide Replace image/color block through template function If you have chosen a certain template, a title slide and one content slide will automatically appear To choose another image or color block for your title slide, go to the Novartis menu and choose Change > Change title/agenda slide To choose an image: Scroll through the images using the arrow below the image Or go via the Browse button and select an image from the thumbnail overview Change color/image function 9 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only
10 How to modify a title slide Replace image/color block through template function You can change the color block in the same window Change > Change title/agenda slide To alter the color of the color block scroll through the Novartis colors and choose any color Click the Ok button to confirm both the image and the color of the title slide Change color/image function 10 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only
11 How to modify a title slide Change logo To alter the logo, choose Change > Change logo from the Novartis menu A dialog box appears You can choose from any Novartis BU, Institute and Corporate logo by clicking on the arrow If you have found the logo you would like to have applied on your title slide, choose the Select Logo button Change logo function Note that all Novartis BU and Institute logos, except the corporate logo, will only be applied to title and agenda slides (minimum size requirements) 11 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only

13 How to modify a title slide Replace image manually If you would like to insert an image not available from the PowerPoint image library, you can insert it manually 1 The size of the image should measure 6.35 x cm (2.15 x 0.3 inches) Please make sure that your images meet the Novartis image world criteria. For detailed information about the Novartis image world, see the Novartis Novartis PowerPoint Design Guidelines. See page 51 how you can crop your image to the appropriate size, if necessary Further Novartis images can be downloaded at the Novartis Brand Service website 1 Warning: If once an image has been replaced manually, the PPTADDIN function will no longer be supported for this particular slide 13 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only
14 How to modify a title slide Replace image manually To place your own image over the title or agenda slide image, please use the following steps: Go to Insert > Picture from File and upload the new image Place the image over the title/agenda slide image Warning: Once an image has been replaced manually, the Novartis PowerPoint menu function change color/image will no longer work for this particular slide Manual replacement of image 14 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only
15 How to modify a title slide Integration of Internal logos on title/agenda slides Internal logos can be added to PowerPoint presentations On title and agenda slides, it is recommended to put internal logos either on the color block or where the image usually is located 1 Instead, you may also include internal logos at the bottom right corner on title/agenda slides Make sure that the internal logo is aligned with the Novartis logo The size of the internal logo can vary, depending on its shape. 18 How to insert/modify an agenda slide What can agenda slides be used for? Agenda slides can be used to divide chapters within your PowerPoint presentation One section of your agenda slide will be highlighted in order to announce the chapter that will follow To insert an agenda slide, choose Insert from the Novartis menu function and go to Insert title/agenda slide Insert title/agenda slide function Choose the section that will follow from the scroll down menu. This section will be highlighted on your agenda slide. 37 How to choose and change colors Novartis colors and their tints The Novartis PowerPoint templates are programmed with seven colors and their tints 1 Titles, text, bullets and charts are automatically formatted to this palette Avoid using colors other than Novartis colors in your presentation. 44 How to use the spell checker Set language To change the spell-checker settings to the Novartis standard English, choose Set Language to US English from the Novartis menu With the button Set language to Local you can change the spell-checker language back to your local language (as set in the system) The spell-checker will be applied to all of the slides in your PowerPoint presentation by underlining in red misspelled words or words not found in the dictionary Set Language to US English function Set Language to Local function The automatic spell-checker can be activated/deactivated under Tools > Options > Spelling and Style > Check spelling as you type 44 PowerPoint User Guide Novartis Presentations September 2008 Business Use Only
