1 TRINITY CATHOLIC SCHOOL THURSDAY BULLETIN October 27, 2016 Are your Auction items at the school? Dear Parents, Have you signed up for your Conference with your child s teacher? Last Friday, October 21, we had a wonderful Grandparent s Day Mass and celebration. Thanks to all of the grandparents, parents, and friends who attended the lovely Mass. Also, thanks to the 8 th grade assistants who helped with greeting, serving, and cleaning up Wilson Hall. Sunday was our October Trinity Mass at 11:00. Thanks to the choir, servers, and helpers at the Mass. I appreciate the preparation time that Mrs. Cook and Sister Kay put into the music in order to help the students sound beautiful. All-School Prayer on Monday was celebrated with the second grade class leading the prayer. We learned about St. Anthony Mary Claret. Next WEDNESDAY, is our special 8:45 Mass for All Souls Day ( Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead). The Mexican holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. Each student will be given a paper cross to list names of family/friends that have died, then decorate and cut out the cross for our celebration. Father Jose is helping us learn about the traditions in Mexico so we will enjoy fruit and chocolate and special bread as we exit Mass. We will bring our paper crosses to Mass to be blessed. Each person will bring theirs to Mass and there will be a procession near the beginning of Mass when we bring the crosses forward. We will have crosses available if you join us for Mass and want to write your own names. Thank you, Father Jose for helping us celebrate Dia de los Muertos. In addition, at Wednesday s Mass we will remember All Saints Day (November 1). We have a saintly representative from each class and a reader to tell us about the saint from each class. The following saints will appear: St. Bernadette in Kindergarten, St. Therese of the little flower in 1 st grade, St. Anthony Mary Claret in 2 nd grade, St. Cecelia in 3 rd grade, St. Luke in 4 th/ 5 th grade, St. Sebastian in 5 th /6 th grade, St. Teresa of Calcutta in 7 th grade, and St. Damien in 8 th grade. Thank you, teachers for helping organize the saints and their costumes. Auction items to remember: Bring your wine or beer for the Teacher Wine/Beer Raffle. This may count for ONE of your items. Anyone who purchases a raffle ticket is eligible to win during the auction. We need desserts for the dessert table. We need HOMEMADE and in a dish/container. No STORE BOUGHT for the Auction unless you go to a specialty bakery. Baked goods are brought to the auction on Saturday, but we need your donation sheet NOW. Desserts will count for one of your items. If you are in need of a Christmas tin (for fudge, cookies, etc. ) or a white cake stand (for any dessert) to use as a nice container, let us know and you can have one. If you haven t brought in your 4 items yet, we are still collecting them!! There are volunteers calling people to check on the items and to check on whether or not you have signed up to

2 work an auction shift. We are still in need of gift cards to food places for the Food Frenzy if you need an idea. Weekly SLE: I strive to understand diversity respecting all people, cultures, and the environment as God s creation. Coming soon...veteran s Day program on November 9 and TURKEY BINGO on Sunday, November 13. Word of the Week: courage. Nokes HALLOWEEN CLASSROOM PARTIES Kindergarten through 8 th grade will hold their classroom celebrations tomorrow, October 28. Students may wear orange and black attire on this day. Please keep in mind this is a Mass day. Preschool will hold their parties on Monday, October 31, and have their costume parade at 10:00 a.m. HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL When: Friday, October 28 Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Where: School gym Volunteers: WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please call Maria at Donations needed: We have plenty of candy (thank you!) and would like to focus on baked goods for the cake walk. Individually wrapped cupcakes, donuts, cakes, cookies. Items must be store bought due to allergies. Please do not bring in baked goods until October 27 or 28. ALL-SCHOOL PRAYER Grade 1 will lead All-school Prayer on Monday, October 31, at 8:35 a.m. in the school gym. All are welcome. Her is beldodge1212@yahoo.com FREE DRESS If you have all four of your Auction items in by tomorrow your child will receive a donut on Monday, October 31 can have free dress on Tuesday, November 1. END OF QUARTER 1 st quarter ends on Wednesday, November 2. ALL SOULS MASS Please join us on Wednesday, November 2, for Mass at 8:45 a.m. There will be no Mass on Friday, November 4.

Nachos, hotdogs, pretzels, egg rolls, pop, water and coffee available. Prize basket raffle tickets. SCHOOL DIRECTORY The Directory will be published next week. Many Directory forms were not returned at registration time. If there is information you do not want me to publish, please let me know. You can me at tbauer@trinityspokane.com or call the office at PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for November 9 and 10. A form was sent home by paper with your student last week. Conferences will last 15 minutes. Please make every effort to send back the form as soon as possible. Conferences are scheduled on a first return basis. Report cards will be sent home during the conference. HEADS UP - FIRST COMMUNION DRESSES We have been informed that First Communion dresses are currently $4 on the Sears website. LADIES NIGHT OUT Join us for Trinity s first Ladies Night Out on Friday, December 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the school gym. We will have an assortment of vendors including the Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, and 31 Bags just to name a few.

4 These vendors are donating their proceeds back to the school. At the same time, you can get your Christmas shopping done while enjoying light appetizers, wine, and beer. No children allowed. $5 admission. EDUCARE NEWS: TODDLER ROOM (2 year The Toddlers are finishing their theme of pumpkins and the color orange. This week they have also been sorting colors and sizes. We have started to learn the color purple. PRESCHOOL ROOM (3 year This week in Preschool our theme is Halloween. We have been drawing pictures of what we want to be for Halloween, making paper candy corns and a monster face. We have also been doing balloon science and learning how to recognize and write the letter F. - Sasha & Ginger PREKINDERGARTEN (4 year This week our themes are the color black and Halloween. We made black spider headbands, a black cat picture for our books about color and a Halloween windsock. Every day we sing Halloween songs and recite new poems and finger plays. Landon Vermeal is our special person this week. We will have our Halloween party and costume parade on Monday. - Shannon & Annette PREKINDERGARTEN 2 (4 year PreK 2 has had a busy week learning about the letter I and reviewing all the other letter sounds we have learned so far. We love the songs about the alphabet sounds. We learned about Spooky the square pumpkin and that is ok to be different. We are looking forward to learning about fall animals and hibernation. - Ruth ******************************** Everyday Ways to Love, Talk and Play Talk and sing together often. Early speech and language skills are associated with success in developing reading, writing, and interpersonal skills, both later in childhood and later in life.
