1 Comal Independent School District Math Models Scope and Sequence First Quarter Assurances The student will use their graphing calculator to evaluate different types of numerical expressions including those with exponents, fractions, square roots, and absolute value symbols. The student will evaluate different types of algebraic expressions including linear, quadratic, polynomial, square root, and absolute value. The student will solve multi-step equations including those with variables on both sides The student will solve real world problems using linear equations The student will solve literal equations for specified variables The student will use proportions to solve real world problems including examples from art, architecture, and geometry The student will use percents to solve real world problems involving finance The student will graph equations of lines by using a table of values The student will graph equations of lines using the intercepts The student will graph equations of lines using the slope and y-intercept The student will understand that slope is a rate of change The student will find slope from tables, graphs, equations and 2 points The student will identify and sketch the linear parent function The student will understand the effects of changing m and b on y = mx + b Math Models Page 1 of 6 Rev.
