2 Pre-Race Registration Completed tonight Late registration can be completed in Garage 7 between 12:00pm and 2:30pm A bag drop facility is located in Garage 8

3 Pre-Race Bike Check Bike Check will take place in Garage 6 of the YMC Main Pits A Bike mechanic is available for minor repairs in the TriYas village. The TriYas Volunteers will check: a. Helmet is present and fitted correctly (Please place on head) b. Bike has 2 working brakes c. Bar ends are plugged d. Visual for any obvious defects Make sure you arrive with you bike in good condition. It is the COMPETITOR responsibility to ensure that their own bike is in good working order.

4 Pre-Race Transition Transition will be open from: - 12:00pm to 2:40pm for Olympic Distance Competitors - 12:00pm to 4:00pm for Sprint Distance Competitors Transition is in the YMC Main Pits and is divided up into two columns (Sprint and Olympic) and 9 wave allocation locations. Olympic Distance will be closest to the Track Sprint Distance are closest to the Garages NO BAGS are to be left in Transition Rack your bike only within your allocated wave area. Water available for filling bidons on entry to Pit Lane

5 Pre-Race Swim Brief Will take place between the Media Centre and Marina prior to each wave entering the water. Listen to instructions during the brief as new hazards may be noted! Brief will take place 15 minutes before your planned wave start time. Once the brief is given athletes may move down to the Marina and complete a short swim warm up if required. Please note that this may only be done behind the starting bouys.

6 Olympic and Sprint Swim Course The 2013 Swim Course follows the same course as the last two years. Current temperature is 22.4 degrees, Wetsuits OPTIONAL Swimmers will enter the water at the YMC Media Centre end of the Marina and remain on the right behind the starting bouy. Please self-seed according to your skill level noone enjoys being swum over. Wave start allocation are on the boards and listed on the website. If you find yourself in trouble at any point REMAIN CALM, ROLL ONTO YOUR BACK and RAISE YOUR ARM TO ATTRACT ATTENTION

7 Olympic and Sprint Swim Course The 2013 Swim Course follows the same course as the last two years. All bouys are on your left. 2 laps for Olympic Distance and 1 Lap for the Sprint Distance. Start bouy and 2 nd lap turning bouy are Orange, all other bouys are yelllow. Swim within your abilities at all times and be aware of those around you. Be aware of Finger wharves and be sure to sight frequently. Stairs mounted on the marina pontoon for exit. If you find yourself in difficulty at any point REMAIN CALM, ROLL ONTO YOUR BACK and RAISE YOUR ARM TO ATTRACT ATTENTION

10 Olympic and Sprint Transition 1 As per 2011, 2012 and On exiting the water look for the marina doors and up the ramp onto YMC. Follow the carpeted area through to Main Pits. Your Helmet MUST be fastened prior to un-racking your bike. Be aware of other competitors when moving through transition and maintain 2-handed control of your bike. Change rooms located in Garages 9-10 (Male) and (Female) DO NOT mount your bike until after the Mount line.

11 Olympic and Sprint Bike Course Course revised this year to the Corkscrew Circuit 8 laps Olympic Distance (39km) 4 Laps Sprint Distance (19.5km) All bikes must stay left. Overtake only on the right. Penalties apply. You are not a Formula One car, NO racing line Be careful of descents and tight turns 3 cut-throughs being utilized Count your laps. Timing will count each lap as well. Obey the instructions of the Technical Officials on the course No water available on course. Please ensure you start the bike with a full bidon. NO MP3 PLAYERS, ipods etc.

12 Olympic and Sprint Bike Course Corkscrew Circuit Configuration This is an elevation drop of 15m in a short distance All bikes must stay left. There is to be NO OVERTAKING and NO RACING LINE Be careful of the descent and tight turns This is an enjoyable addition to the course but SAFETY is paramount Ride within your limits and be aware of your fellow competitors Area will be watched by a circuit camera at all times and athletes who overtake or act dangeously may be penalised and/or disqualified NO MP3 PLAYERS, ipods etc.

14 Olympic and Sprint Transition 2 As per 2011, 2012 and Dismount your bike BEFORE the dismount line DO NOT remove your helmet until you have racked your bike. Be aware of other competitors when moving through transition and maintain 2-handed control of your bike. Change rooms located in Garages 9-10 (Male) and (Female) Penalty Box located immediately on entering the run course. Check for your number and follow the instructions of the official.

15 Olympic and Sprint Run Course Mostly the same as 2013, with the exception of the Corkscrew configuration. 2 laps (10km) for the Olympic Distance 1 Lap (4.5km) for the Sprint Distance Be aware of your surroundings and your fellow competitors. Penalty Box located immediately on entering the run course. Check for your number and follow the instructions of the official. Toilets available in the Main Pit area and at the Support Pit Water Station Water stations available on the run course at approximately 2km distances. 4 aid station passes for Olympic Distance (Corkscrew, Marina Grandstand, Start of 2 nd Lap and Marina Grandstand) 2 aid station passes for Sprint Distance (Corkscrew and Marina Grandstand)

17 Junior Duathlon years Short Course 1 Lap on the Bike (4.8km) 1 Lap on the Run (1.5km) Starting in groups of 15 on the YMC Main Straight. Athletes to be ready at 1315 for a race briefing and access to the course. Catchers will take the bike as the athletes enter transition On to the run course, all runners must stay left. Return through the transition area, between the medical centre and helipad and on to the finish line. One aid station on the run. Please ensure you start the bike with a full water bottle. Obey the instructions of the Technical Officials on the course NO MP3 PLAYERS, ipods etc.

20 Race Competition Rules The rules are there to ensure you have a safe and fair race You as an athlete will determine how safe and fair the race is! Please obey all instructions from officials and be courteous to all volunteers they are there to assist you on the day. Event personnel are the only people to assist you during the race only accept encouragement from friends and family.

21 Race Competition Rules Swim Conduct If you need assistance you can ask for help but you cannot move forward with any boat or kayak. Must wear your allocated swim cap and start in your correct wave.

22 Race Competition Rules Transition Conduct Must have helmet done up before you remove your bike and keep it done up until you have returned your bike to the rack. Once you have removed your bike you may run/walk your bike to the mount line after which you may mount your bike. On returning to transition you must dismount your bike where instructed and run/walk your bike to your allocated position. All equipment should be kept in your allocated area and not impede any other athlete or interfere with their equipment.

23 Race Competition Rules Bike Conduct Drafting - You must remain 7 metres behind the bike in front of you. You have 15 seconds to pass Once passed you must drop back before attempting to overtake again. Blocking You must ride on the left at all times and allow faster athletes to pass you on the right. Illegal Pass You must pass on the right every time.

24 Race Competition Rules Penalties Drafting, blocking and illegal pass attract a 3 minute time penalty. You will be shown a yellow card and number will be called. Penalty box will be located as you exit transition on the run. Race number will be recorded on a whiteboard. If you do not stop for your penalty you will be Disqualified 2 Penalties = Disqualification
