SilkSkin SERICIN COMPLEX GLOVES

What is SERICIN? SERICIN is a protein created by Bombyx mori (silkworms) in the production of silk Silk consists mainly of two proteins, SERICIN and fibroin Fibroin being the structural center of the silk SERICIN being the gum coating the fibres and allowing them to stick to each other. Silk SERICIN has been used for over 3500 years by the world elite to rejuvenate their hair and skin

SERICIN Applications Skin Creams (Anti-Aging) Hair Care (Moisturizer) Air Filters (Antimicrobial) Textiles (Antimicrobial) Edible Supplements (Antioxidant) Serum for tissue culture Tissue Scaffold

Why SERICIN? SERICIN structure and the content of amino acids are similar to the skin of human body, thus it is highly compatible and absorbed easily with human skin (Padol 2012) SERICIN benefits: Moisturizing Anti-Aging Wound Healing Anti-Microbial

SERICIN Content SERICIN amino acid composition that resemble natural moisturizing factor (NMF), which is naturally part of our human make up.

SERICIN Moisturizing Decrease skin impedance Moisturizing of upper layer of skin Increase in water holding Increase hydroxyproline (protein binding capacity to stratum corneum) by restoration of amino acid hydroproxyline important in stabilizing triple helical structure of collagen and connective tissue protein used to restore moisturization and skin tightening Reduce excessive transepidermal water loss (TEWL) Occlusive effect preventing water loss from stratum corneum and allow water to accumulate horny layer Replacement of natural moisturizing factor (NMF) due to occurs by aging

SERICIN Moisturizing Skin treated with SERICIN showed less flakes and white ridges Decrease in flakes and ridges of the skin reveals the moisturization of the skin SERICIN forms a moisturizing, semiocclusive, protective, anti wrinkle film on the skin surface imparting an immediate, long lasting, smooth, silky feeling.

Causes of Aging Intrinsic factors Biological aging hormonal changes metabolic processes

Causes of Aging Extrinsic factors (also accelerate intrinsic factor) UV radiation causing Photo-aging Generate Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS)/ Oxidative Stress leading to cell or tissue injury, they are responsible for many diseases such as cancer over-production of elastase degrading elastin fiber (losing elasticity and wrinkle formation) Sun exposure induces tyrosinase (Melanin production/blackened peeled potato)

SERICIN Anti-Aging Reactive Oxygen species (ROS) scavenging/antioxidant Due to high content of hydroxy amino acids (Serine & Threonine) chelating trace elements such as copper and iron. Fan et al 2007 Evidenced by lipid peroxidation test by Kato et al 1997 Anti-tyrosinase (production of melanin e.g. blackening of sliced potato) SERICIN contains flavonoids and carotenoids elements. Chlapanidas et al 2013 confirmed SERICIN exhibits strong antityrosine properties. Anti-elastase Chlapanidas et al 2013 concluded anti-elastase properties in SERICIN that prevents loss of skin elasticity and wrinkle formation

SERICIN Anti-Aging UV protection SERICIN has suppressive activity against both chemical and UV radiation by inhibiting epidermal oxidative stress, suppression of COX-2 expression, and moisturizing effect. Zhaorigetu et al 2003 Anti-apoptosis (programmed cell death) Western blotting test result indicates Sericin stimulated bcl-2 (an anti-apoptosis signal) by reducing the oxidative stress in fibroblast. Kitisin et al 2013 Blocking the caspase activity by reducing oxidative stress in HaCat. Dash et al 2008

SERICIN Anti-Aging Zhaorigetu et al 2003 conduct acute 7 days UVB radiation on mouse skin Vehicle (control), BSA (control), SIREN Rare 4-HNE (oxidative stress marker) on SERICIN treated skin Hardly observed COX-2 (marker of epidermal UVB exposure) expression on SERICIN treated Skin

SERICIN Anti-Aging Dash et al 2008 concluded anti-apoptotic effect of SERICIN in UVB-irradiated cells is through the blocking of caspace activities, possibly by reducing oxidative stress in HaCat (Human Skin)

SERICIN Anti-Aging Dash et al 2007 test SERICIN antioxidant against H2O2. H2O2 as a model oxidant has been well studied. Report conclude SERICIN is an ideal molecule to prevent oxidative stress.

SERICIN Wound Healing Methionine and cysteine promote cell growth and collagen synthesis. Aramwit et al 2007 concluded that SERICIN has good hydrophilic properties, compatibility, and biodegradation. SERICIN treated wound had much smaller inflammatory reactions and wound-size reduction greater than control. Mean time in days for 90% healing for SERICIN treated wound is much lesser than control Histological examination shows SERICIN treated wound revealed complete healing, no ulceration, no rash, and increase in collagen compared to control, which showed some ulceration and inflammatory.

SERICIN Wound Healing

SERICIN Wound Healing

SERICIN Antimicrobial Senakoon et al 2009 & Rajendrana et al 2012 concluded that SERICIN antibacterial property against E. Coli and S. Aureus E. Coli cell shrunk and deep roughening of cell surface S. Aureus cell exhibits segregation, deformation, reduced size and shrinkage

SERICIN Antimicrobial Jassim et al 2010 examined SERICIN antibacterial property by growing of spores colonies and examining tensile strength of SERICIN treated and untreated cotton fabric The average of untreated fabric is NIT, whereas treated fabric is 96 NIT (6.5X)
