The favourite and probably the most famous is Lake Garda. Nestled between high mountains covered in pine woods, olive groves and vineyards it provides a great place for relaxation. The Stelvio Pass at 2757m is one of the highest and most dramatic mountain passes in the Alps. Best approached from the North West you ll experience the drive down the famous switchbacks driving through the heart of the Stelvio National Park before starting the descent, taking you through some great stretches of alpine forest and fast sweeping roads prior to your arrival at the foot of the pass. 2 Tour Itinerary DAY 1 Am P&O Ferry crossing Dover / Calais, where you ll have the choice of taking a Scenic or direct drive through France to Nancy for the first of two overnight stops - Mileage approx. 320 DAY 2 Breakfast followed by am departure from Nancy and the hotel. Again you will have the choice of taking a Scenic or direct drive through France and Switzerland before arriving in the Nauders area, Austria for the second overnight stop - Mileage approx. 320 DAY 3 Today after breakfast, the fun begins with a morning descent of the infamous Stelvio Pass (approx. 25 miles) We recommend that you get to the Stelvio Pass early in the morning before it starts getting too busy, the descent to Bormio takes approx 35 minutes. After your Stelvio experience the journey continues through Italy to Lake Garda - Mileage approx. 175 miles DAY 4 The Day at Leisure OR Enjoy a scenic drive around Lake Garda where you can explore some of the beautiful towns and attractions such as: Desenzano Sirmione, Bardolino, Malcesine, Riva del Garda, Limone, Gargnano and Tignale to mention just a few - Mileage approx. 95 miles DAY 5 The Day at Leisure OR Day Excursion to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage City of Verona. Its reputation alone inspired Shakespeare to set two plays here (Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona). We recommend that you spend a full day in Verona it is well worth it. You can leave your car at Garage Italia in Corso Porta Nova, it s easy to get to and only a 5 minute walk from there to the arena. Mileage approx. 33 miles DAY 6 The Day at Leisure OR - A spectacular drive taking in alpine lakes, a pass and a lake side drive featured in a Bond film. Probably one of the best drives in Europe. If Jeremy Clarkson drove it, he'd be sure to call it 'one of the most crazy roads in the world'. Mileage approx. 136 miles DAY 7 The Day at Leisure OR Enjoy a memorable drive to Venice. No, you can't actually drive in Venice, but you can drive to Venice, leave your car in a garage or lot, and proceed to enjoy the city of canals car-free. Mileage approx. 100 miles DAY 8 Departing the Hotel and Lake Garda after breakfast, today you begin the homeward drive through Italy and into Switzerland where you'll enjoy another spectacular drive over the Grimsel Pass, which at 2165m is one of the most spectacular passes in the Alps. We'll then make the first of two overnight stops in Lucerne - Mileage approx. 260 miles. DAY 9 Departing after breakfast, today s journey will see you crossing the border into France. As with the outbound drives, again you will have the choice of taking a Scenic or direct drive en route through France into Luxembourg and the town of Bascharage where you ll enjoy your second overnight stop. Mileage approx. 286 miles DAY 10 Departing after breakfast today sees you making your final journey back to Calais and the UK. Again you will have the choice of taking a Scenic or a more direct drive to rendezvous with your return P&O Ferry crossing back to Dover.
