2 803 Forest Parkway SUMMER SWIMMING LESSONS Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday for 2 weeks. Ages: Preschool 3-5 yrs old; Children 6-12 yrs and Adults 13yrs & up. Preschool is a water orientation class that last 30 minutes. The swimming lesson for children and adults are based on American Red Cross guidelines. These are one-hour classes. Students learn at their level of readiness. The levels are: Level I Water Exploration Level II Primary Skills Level III Stroke Readiness Level IV Stroke Development Level V Stroke Refinement Level VI Skill Proficiency Level VII Advances Skills Cost: $30/residents - $40/nonresidents 1 st session June 4-June 15, 2007 Preschool 11:30am-12noon Children 6-12 yrs 8:30-9:30am, 9:30-10:30am, 10:30-11:30am 2 nd Session June 18-June 29, 2007 Preschool 11:30am-12noon Children 6-12 yrs 8:30-9:30am, 9:30-10:30am, 10:30-11:30am 3 rd Session July 2-July 13, 2007 Preschool 11:30am-12noon Children 6-12 yrs 8:30-9:30am, 9:30-10:30am, 10:30-11:30am 4 th Session July 16-July 27, 2007 Preschool 11-11:30am, 11:30am-12noon Children 6-12 yrs 9am-10am, 10am-11am Adult swim lessons ages 13 and over meet Monday through 6pm-7pm, July 16-26, SWIM FOR FUN & FITNESS Age - 55 and over Cost - $1 each time When - Tuesday & Time - 1:30pm-2:30pm Where - Indoor Pool Rec. Bldg. Register in the gym office and come on in the water for relaxed atmosphere of fun and fitness. Contact Mary Ann Connelly at PUBLIC SWIMMING (INDOOR POOL) When - Through- April, 2007 Time - Tuesday & 7:30-9:30pm Saturday 1-4pm beginning Jan. 7- March, 2007 Requirement - Must have activity card & swim suit Must be able to stand up in water depth shallow end 3 ft Cost - $1-55 & over; $1-17 & under; $ yrs. old Children under 12 must be accompanied by adult. Children in diapers not allowed. Call for more information. WATER EXERCISE This class meets on Monday and 1pm-2pm at the indoor pool. Fee: $15 monthly. Class will meet monthly. 3 Spring Saturday Swim Lessons FPRLS Guide March 2007-September 2007 The City of Forest Park Recreation & Leisure Services will be offering swimming lessons this spring The lessons will take place in the indoor pool on Saturdays. The lessons are for ages 3 years and up. In the preschool class a parent is required to get in the water with the child. The fee is $30 for residents of Forest Park and $40 for non-residents. A parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form prior to the child participating in the swim lessons. Preschool Water Orientation (Ages: 3 years 5 years old) 1 st Session March 10, 2007 through April 14, :00noon-12:30pm ~ $30-Residents/$40-Nonresidents 2 nd Session April 21, 2007 through May 26, :00noon-12:30pm ~ $30-Residents/$40-Nonresidents This half hour class is a water adjustment for the child to learn to prevent swallowing water by blowing bubbles, to kick while wearing floatation devices, to reach and use arms. Based on the child s readiness, other skills can be taught such as: submersion, floating on their backs, climbing out at the side of the pool, and, jumping in from the side. The above skills are taught through play and games, such as, riding on a raft, pretending to be on a boat, passing game, and London Bridge. Since this class is only an introduction, with emphasis on safety, it may be repeated continuously until age six. At that time the child may enter the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. Instructor Janice Wayte Beginners Swim Program (Ages 6 years and Up) 1 st Session March 10, 2007 through April 14, :00am-12:00noon ~ $30-Residents/$40-Nonresidents 2 nd Session April 21, 2007 through May 26, :00am-12:00noon ~ $30-Residents/$40-Nonresidents This Learn-To-Swim Program is based on the American Red Cross guidelines, with an emphasis on safety. Each one-hour class is divided into four or five groups based on age, ability and motivation. Students learn at their level, performing tasks when they are ready, both physically and psychologically. The levels are as follows: Level I ~ Introduction to Water Skills Level II ~ Fundamental Aquatic Skills Level III ~ Stroke Development Level IV ~ Stroke Improvement Level V ~ Stroke Refinement Level VI ~ Swimming & Skill Proficiency Each progression incorporates the skills from the previous level. 5 WATER AEROBICS (OUTDOOR POOL) Registration - Monthly Cost - $25/residents - $35/nonresidents Class Dates - June 4, July 2, August 6, 2007 Time - 7pm-8pm When - Monday & evenings Location - Starr Park Outdoor Pool This class is versatile offering a challenge to the beginner and senior exerciser. Held in chest-deep water, it involves stretching and aerobic exercise. Cards available at gym office Monday-Friday 10am-7pm. POOL RENTALS The City of Forest Park pools are a cool way to celebrate birthday parties, family reunions, or a picnic. Fees are determined by the number of individuals in the party. $30/hour + $2/per person Please call for availability. FAMILY SWIM NIGHTS Fridays from 6:30pm to 8pm. Swim play minigolf eat (hot dog plate) - $3 per person. Dates: June 8, 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3, You must be accompanied by a parent. Only families can swim on these evenings. STARR PARK OUTDOOR POOL Activity Card required to enter pool and pool areas. Opens June 3, 2007 through August 4, Operating hours will be: Monday,, Friday 1:30pm-6pm; Tuesday and 3pm-6pm; Saturday 12noon-4pm. Ages 17 & under $1/$2; Ages $2/$3; Ages 55 and Over $1. Everyone must wear a swimsuit. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Children in diapers are not allowed must be toilet trained. 32
6 PUBLIC SWIMMING (OUTDOOR) Must have Pool Pass, Pool Card or Activity Card. Admission required with Activity Card/Pool Card $1/$2 residents and $2/$3 for nonresidents. Activity Cards may be purchased at gym office Monday through Friday 10am-7pm and Saturday 12noon-4pm. POOL RULES Activity Card or season pass required. No Running, Pushing, Dunking or Rough Play Allowed. No Food, Beverage or Gum in Pool Area. Swim Suits Required: No Cut-offs, T-Shirts, or Street Clothes. No Diapered Children Allowed in Pool Must Be Toilet Trained. Nothing Made of Glass Allowed in Pool or Pool Areas. No Flotation Devices, Masks, Fins, Snorkels, Noodles or Balls. No Rain Checks. No Smoking or Tobacco Use. Obey Lifeguards. 12 & Under Must be Accompanied by Individual 16 years of age or Older. Parents Are Responsible for Children in the Pool. No Profanity or Abusive Language Allowed. Everyone Entering Pool Must Pay. Forest Park Staff has the Right and Responsibility to Eject/Suspend Anyone from the Pool and/or Facility for Misconduct. No Loitering. OUTDOOR POOL PASS Good for June 3-August 4, 2007 during public pool hours: Monday,, Friday 1:30pm- 6pm; Tuesday and 3pm-6pm; Saturday 12noon-4pm; Sunday 1pm-5pm.
