1 Industry 4.0 Turning the Vision into Reality Creating Networked Worlds SEW-EURODRIVE Movement, Tradition, Innovation, Quality and Service
3 The term Industry 4.0 first came up in It was used by the government as well as the industry to describe a common future project, which should be used to integrate tools, machines and products. Sounded like Science Fiction in the Past! Has now turned into Reality at SEW!
4 SEW-EURODRIVE Successful with Technology, Values and People at the Center SEW-EURODRIVE and Industry 4.0 At the 2011 Hanover Fair the term Industry 4.0 was brought into the public eye for the first time. Since then Industry 4.0 marked by an increasing digitalization and interconnection of products, value chains and business models has also arrived in our company. The path to Industry 4.0 is an evolutionary process, basic technologies and experiences of CIM und Lean have paved the way for Industry 4.0. With Industry 4.0 we connect clear economic goals and the chance for a better differentiation in the global competition.

9 Industry 4.0 The Fusion of Production Technology, Information Technology and the Internet Smart Factory SEW-INDUSTRY 4.0/ Factory 2020 The vision of the SEW-Lean Factory: The intelligent SEW-factory of tomorrow has a modular design. Segmented, lean optimized Small Factory Units (factories inside the factory) are the organizational basis for Industry 4.0. People, things, processes, services and data everything is interconnected with each other. The goal is to reach a higher degree of collaboration productivity between humans and technology. Intelligent products/objects equipped with an embedded system, QR-codes and RFID-chips navigate themselves through the smart factory. With standardized interfaces and the most modern information technology it allows a highly flexible, automated production based on the motto Plug & Play in batch size 1.

11 Changeable, Agile, Interconnected Production System Processes in the SEW-Lean Factory 2020 Small Factory Units Autonomous, dynamic factory units, acting as independent units based on the principle of self-organization and self-optimization.
12 Lean Industry 4.0 A Factory organized by Small Factory Units Small Factory Unit Self-controlling, -configuring, -learning The Objective Implementing reconfigurable and scalable Plants Expand change- and adaptability Making use of decentralized Knowledge and Competencies Running a robust, failure-free Production System
13 Lean Industry 4.0 People and their work in Industry 4.0 The Human will continue to be the Center in the Virtual Factory. Stückzahlentwicklung montierte Getriebe Gesamt SFU-Manager as Conductor of Added Value a cognitively and socially challenging Task Decentralized, result-oriented plant control Detailed planning of the daily production sequences Flexible, result-oriented use of resources Production- and customer-oriented collaboration Performance-resulted transparency in real time Entrepreneurial freedom to make decisions on-site Forward-looking order simulation Acting instead of reacting

16 SEW - Lean Industry 4.0 Mobile Assistant Systems change the Transportation Logistics in the Company Accomplishing the most various transportation tasks based on the model of an ant swarm... Using the intelligence of the swarm! Ants are the best logistics experts in the world! solving problems collectively The individual is nothing, community is everything Each SEW Logistics Assistant talks to the others, exchanges its position, makes appointments and decides who takes on the task. Mobile Assistant Systems revolutionize Logistics
17 Supporting the human in the CPS Making the Process transparent and comprehensible for the Human Assembly Cell with flexible transport accessibility The features of the order-oriented, adaptable, robust and changeable factory: Mobile assembly assistant becomes the CPS and takes up all order information Employee is supported with the completion of his tasks and receives important information (Augmented Reality) Employee evolves from being a simple assembly worker to being in charge of controlling and regulating interconnected production elements New IT-based assistant systems promote creativity and learning ability Working process, acceptance, performance- and development capacity, well-being and health of the employee is supported
18 Supporting the Human in the CPS Making the Process transparent and comprehensible for the Human With autonomous systems a transition from a Human-Technology-Interaction to a Human-Technology-Cooperation could be introduced. Technology is no longer an Instrument, but rather a Partner for the human. Autonomous systems must be designed according to the Human-Technology-Cooperation
19 Lean Industry 4.0 People and their work in Industry 4.0 The Role of the Human in the Work System 4.0 Increase of Human-Technology-Cooperation leads to a relieve for the employee. Overall less physical demand through changes in tasks and rotation. Automation makes interaction of human and machine more efficient. Short-cycled, precise communication in every work sequence to the customers order. Intelligent decision maker in unplanned and unpredictable situations. Human in the role of a problem solver, decision maker and innovator.
20 The Intelligent Network in the World of Logistics SEW Production Logistics GOAL: Autonomous transportation of goods in packaging units (transport boxes/pallets). The packaging units are to be transported within the plant as well as from plant to plant. The transport system is to interact with the other involved systems (i.e. the logistics assistant) autonomously in order to guarantee a smooth exchange of goods. Indoor rides, outdoor rides, transport onto a truck/train/container will be possible. Cruising speed of up to 6km/h. Manual loading and de-loading possible, communication with person possible. Self-propelled, standardized freight transportation vehicles Mobile logistics assistant Goods transportation capsule Chassis Speed: 6km/h - 30km/h (Long-term goal Braking distance</=2m X-Y 90 -turn Even ground 5cm steps traversable 12% gradient passable Ground clearance 15cm Load capacity 3t total load Suspension for uneven ground
21 The Live-Demonstrator-Concept Lean Factory 2020 at the HMI 2016
22 On the Tracks of Industry 4.0 Creating Networked Worlds, Securing the Future It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. Charles Darwin ( ), British Naturalist and Geologist Thank you very much for your Attention!
