The Inn is only four miles south of the gate into the park and 40 miles from Yosemite Valley. This route is used by 40 to 50 percent of all visitors to the park and traffi c volume swells to nearly 50,000 cars per day in August. The Highway also provides the best direct route to Badger Pass, the only ski resort in a National Park. Adjacent to the property, The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, is a restored steam train which originally served logging operations in the area from 1899 through 1931 and is where the Inn s name is derived. A 4 mile section of the original railbed has been reconstructed and runs daily throughout most of the year.
