4 Macey Zeng, China Student MSc Business Administration The courses in the Marketing track in Business Administration are filled with challenges. They encourage me to think outside the box and work hard for more in-depth insights. My fellow students come from different cultural backgrounds and they are friendly, sharp, highly motivated and well-suited to teamwork. The schedule facilitates the balance between the practical and academic sides of my study and ensures some extra-curricular activities as well. I am currently working in a small private holding consultancy firm in Amsterdam, dealing with business collaborations in China. Besides that, I m a member of the International Student Network, which organises numerous social student activities and events. Amsterdam is a great city, combining international diversity and intercultural cooperation. An international background has the advantage of many job opportunities and different communities that are open to people from abroad. Good price-value relationship Tuition fee The tuition fees for 2014 are: n 1,906 for students with an EU/ EEA nationality n 12,000 for students from outside the EU/EEA The tuition fee covers tuition, orientation, transcript processing and several extra-curricular activities. The tuition fees may be subject to change. Scholarships We aim to attract the world s brightest students to our international classrooms. Your expenses can be roughly broken down as follows: n Visa/Residence Permit: 325 onetime fee n Accommodation: per month n Insurance: per month n Books: per month n Public transport: per month (more if you live outside of Amsterdam) Please note: You are allowed to work part-time but the number of hours depends on your nationality, and in some cases you need a work permit first. However, it is not recommended to see work as a means of financing your studies. The programme study workload is already considerable and finding a part-time job can be quite difficult. Please note that a Bachelor s degree from a university of applied sciences will not be taken into consideration. The application opens in October and the last day to apply is April 1 or May 1, depending on your nationality. For detailed information about entry requirements please see the programme of your interest at Language requirements Student support and services Housing assistance for international students As student housing is scarce, the University will assist all international first-year students in finding appropriate furnished accommodation. Rent for these rooms can vary according to type, size, and location. Students live together with other Dutch and/or international students. Although there is no guarantee, in the last few years the University has been able to offer housing to nearly all international students. University accommodations are located in different neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. Room types and locations range from a flat with shared facilities in the south-east of Amsterdam to small scale accommodation in the city centre. Every location can easily be reached from the city centre. The Amsterdam Business School and the Amsterdam School of Economics are accessible by either public transport or (preferably) by bicycle. Student welfare: support and services About 3,000 international degree and exchange students are currently enrolled at the UvA, coming from over 100 countries. You will be actively supported by the University staff and fellow students during your time in Amsterdam. n The University helps out with practical matters such as finding accommodation, applying for visas and opening a bank account.

These include a student service centre, libraries, modern study centres, doctors, dentists and counsellors, sports and cultural facilities, restaurants, and more. n Study advisers at UvA Economics and Business closely monitor you during your studies.
