2 Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Founded in 1921 by Agostino Gemelli, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is today the largest private university in Italy and the largest Catholic university in Europe. Università Cattolica is committed to excellence in scientific research and rigorous teaching, and places emphasis on an instructional approach which focuses on both the professional as well as the personal development of students. More than 130,000 students graduated from Università Cattolica over nearly 90 years since its foundation and more than 41,000 students are currently enrolled at the four campuses located in Milan, Brescia, Piacenza-Cremona and Rome. Tenured faculty members total to about 1,400 and are affiliated with 12 schools: Arts and Philosophy, Law, Political and Social Sciences, Education, Economics, Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Banking, Finance and Insurance, Language and Foreign Literature, Psychology, Economics and Law. Programs offered in the 2014/2015 academic year include 41 undergraduate degrees, 45 graduate degrees, about 100 master programs, more than 15 doctorate schools and more than 40 residency programs at the Medical School. The School The School of Banking, Finance and Insurance at Università Cattolica promotes teaching and research in the field of finance, a modern and fascinating discipline that deals with money, banks and financial markets. The objective of the School is to support personal enrichment and professional growth of the students. The main strenghts of the School are the faculty and the placement: classes are taught by leading scholars and practitioners with international exposure and ninety-one percent of our graduates have a permanent job in the financial industry within 12 months from graduation. The School is located downtown Milan, just a few blocks away from the Italian financial district. The programs offered by the School provide a solid foundation in the core disciplines of finance and a deep knowledge in various specialized fields, including: management of financial institutions, corporate finance, securities trading, insurance, statistics applied to financial markets and actuarial sciences.
3 Graduate Degree in Banking and Finance (Laurea magistrale in Banking and finance) Presentation The Banking and Finance (BF) program is a specialized degree designed for students wishing to concentrate their career in financial markets and institutions. The program provides advanced training in the key areas of securities trading and risk management. A major strength of the program is the combination of strong analytical foundation and applications to real-world issues. Students will learn to integrate financial models, firm-specific as well as industry and economy-wide factors in their decision making process. English-taught classes enables us to recruit the best and brightest students from all over the world. A diverse and multicultural class will enrich the learning experience. Additionally, familiarity with English - enhanced by its day-by-day practice - is essential for those wishing to pursue a career in finance. BF students have access to meetings with highly qualified speakers from the financial industry, internship programs in major Italian and international financial institutions, exchange programs in European and US universities. Placement Graduates from the BF program have both the technical knowledge and the methodological tools suited to pursue professional and managerial careers in banks, asset management companies, securities firms, large corporations (particularly in the treasury and finance departments), and regulators. Professional consulting positions in all areas of banking and finance represent another option for BF graduates. Curriculum The BF program lasts two years and is open to students holding an undergraduate degree with a major in finance. Students must earn at least 120 credits, including the credits for the final exam, to graduate. Students with a non-italian degree Prospective students holding an international degree have to apply to the International Admissions Office following the admission procedures available on the graduate program website. The admission committee will evaluate the applications in accordance with the entry requirements. Non European-residents are welcome to apply by April 15. Non European students living in Italy and European students can apply by July 30. Language prerequisite Good command of English is required for admission to this program. Applicants will take an English language test to demonstrate their proficiency in English. The test will be administered at Università Cattolica. Applicants are exempted from taking the test if they: - have one of the following accreditations: TOEFL/IBT overall score of at least 80 or an Academic IELTS overall score of at least 6.0; First Certificate in English, Certificate Advanced in English, Certificate Proficency in English, Business English certificate; - have successfully completed a degree program taught in the English language in a country where English is the official language. 5 Fees Fees for the Banking and Finance program are expected to range from 3, to 8,106.00, depending on the applicant s financial background. A flat tuition fee of 8, is applied to Non- E.U. citizens residing outside the European Union and associated states.
