The four-year bachelor programme consists of varied theory and practical modules and two s. In addition to this, you will choose two minors either inside or outside the faculty or you can take part in an international exchange programme. Close to the profession When you study at the Hotel Management School Maastricht, you will certainly not spend all your time attending lectures. Apart from lectures from teachers and experts in the field, you will also be attending skills training courses, workshops and taking part in excursions to see the industry in practice. Teamwork plays a major role. In the workshops, you ll be working in a group of students on practical problems or projects. And what s more, you ll be exposed to the real-life environment of Teaching Hotel Château Bethlehem. This is a training environment unique in the Netherlands, including twenty-six guestrooms, a restaurant, a bar and various meeting rooms. At Hotel Management School Maastricht, s are a major aspect of your training. You will have to complete two intensive s of five months: an operational and a management traineeship. All operational traineeships will be spent abroad, from Europe to Asia or America. The operational traineeship gives you a good general picture of the hotel industry. In the management traineeship, you will specialise in that part of the industry that appeals to you, such as hotels, consultancies, conference & event organisations, general & technical management, tourism or cruises.

3 Worldwide network International exchange If you want an international career, is definitely the place to be. You ll be working on your own network abroad and getting to know other cultures. In the third year, you can opt to take part in an international exchange programme. You will then take modules abroad for which you will get course credits. You ll find an up-to-date list of our exchange programmes on the website exchanges. Global Hospitality Management You can also take part in the Global Hospitality Management programme. This is a joint venture between University of San Francisco, Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hotel Management School Maastricht. For a year and a half, you ll study in an internationally orientated environment with representatives of different cultures. This comprehensive international programme will give you the opportunity to develop a global way of thinking. Future talent in After graduation Work Eighty percent of graduates from get a job immediately upon earning their bachelor s degree. A hotel management school degree means that you re versatile. You can work all over the world in management or consultancy; for example, in the international hotel industry, in and service organisations or in the conference and events industry. But also in management or consultancy jobs for healthcare institutions or financial services. Banks and insurance companies are certainly very interested in graduates of the Hotel Management School Maastricht, because they excel in interpersonal contact and business insight. Further study If you would like to continue your studies, you can choose from three master s degree programmes. For example, you can study international business at Maastricht University. What s more, Hotel Management School Maastricht also offers a one-year programme in Innovative Hospitality Management in cooperation with ESADE-Escuela Universitaria de Turismo St. Ignasi in Barcelona. This programme consists of course blocks in Barcelona and Maastricht followed by an (international) research. You study with graduates from hotel and tourism schools throughout the world, and with students with related backgrounds such as marketing, business administration and communications. There is also a European Master s Degree in Facility & Real Estate Management, offered by Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. If you have already acquired a few years work experience after graduation, you could take a one-year MBA in Hotel and Tourism Management. This programme is offered in cooperation with the Maastricht School of Management. Teaching Hotel Château Bethlehem real life training for students The Teaching Hotel Château Bethlehem is a unique learning environment and an inspiring meeting-place. Here students at experiment with concepts such as design and creativity. They train all aspects of the profession in practice from reception to kitchen and from housekeeping to service. Here they can learn from their mistakes and receive all the space they need to innovate. Firstyear students have operational tasks and provide leadership. 4 Practical information Student life Become a manager with a hands-on mentality Open days About twenty times a year, on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. opens its doors to prospective students. Selection Since its foundation in 1950, Hotel Management School Maastricht has acquired an excellent reputation both in the Netherlands and abroad. At the moment, approximately 1,100 students are enrolled at our institute. Every year, 320 new students are admitted. The industry calls for special skills and qualities. Living on campus is not only very pleasant, it also enables you to work on your social and practical skills an important part of your studies and your career later. This explains why first-year students in principle have to live on campus. You will have your own campus room, furnished like a small hotel room. Sanitary facilities are shared and there is a restaurant. And because you will be living with your fellow students, you ll also make friendships that last for life. Lively Maastricht Maastricht is synonymous with joie de vivre. In this historic city on the River Maas, you can shop to your heart s content, have fun in one of the many student cafés and enjoy good food. There s also no lack of culture, with theatres, concert halls, cinemas and museums all within easy reach. What s more, Maastricht is the most European city in the Netherlands with towns like Liège, Aachen and Hasselt close at hand. Students make up over ten per cent of the city s population, which means crowded cafés on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, a large number of student rooms in the old city centre, and a range of active student associations. The Amphitryon students association, closely linked to the hotel school, providing plenty of opportunities for putting theoretical knowledge into practice. You are free to join the association.
