The SPA9000 IP PBX coupled with Linksys SPA900 series phones open up access to the benefits of VoIP, including low cost long distance service, telephone number portability, and one network for both voice and data. LVS has common voice system features such as an auto-attendant, shared line appearances, three way conferencing, intercom, music on hold, callforwarding and much more.. This document addresses the local configuration of an LVS system with the voice service settings of service provider, Cbeyond. It is assumed that the WAN access provided by Cbeyond has been previously installed and tested to be working to the satisfaction of the Cbeyond Service Activation Manager. This document does not address configurations for the dial plan, call routing, auto attendant, etc. The local feature settings should be configured by an authorized LVS VAR or installation technician using tools like the LVS configuration Wizard and the LVS Administration guide. Both of which can be found at the Linksys web site. Setting Customer Expectations The Wide Area Network WAN Cbeyond managed voice and data service is delivered to the customer premises via a Cisco IAD24xx router. The IAD24XX connects to the customer s LAN via 10/100 BaseT Ethernet. The Local Area Network LAN The LAN on which the LVS components will be installed must support the following configuration / technology: 2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. 1 9/5/2007

All LVS Ethernet Network Connections Should Be Switched Ethernet The SPA900 series phones should be connected to a free Switched Ethernet port or if using an SPA900 series phone with an available Ethernet port the phone can be connected to the Switched Ethernet connection that was previously connected to the worker s computer. It is important to never connect a shared Ethernet hub between the Switched Ethernet port and the SPA900 series IP telephone. 2. All LVS Network Connections Should Be on the Same Sub Net with Multicast Enabled It is important that IP multicast messages are able to be sent to and from LVS components. SPA900 Series phones send multicast messages to the SPA9000 when they are looking for the configuration server. The SPA9000 uses multicast messages to communicate to phones during normal operation. The <Multicast Address> parameter on the SPA9000 defines the multicast address used by the SPA9000 and the SPA900 Series phones to communicate with each other. The default value is :6061. This address can also be set using the IVR option 181 and reviewed using option 180. The <Group Page Address> parameter is used by the SPA9000 for group paging of all active client stations. The default value is : The SPA900 series phones must have corresponding multicast parameter settings. 3. The SPA9000 IP PBX Should Not Implement Any NAT Traversal Techniques The tested Cbeyond SPA9000 IP PBX configuration uses the SPA9000 in a host mode. The LAN port is not being used. In fact, the LAN interface on the SPA9000 is only used for administrative tasks and troubleshooting. The SPA9000 will typically be networked behind the IAD NAT on private address space. The IAD is providing SIP NAT traversal with ALG support. The SPA9000 IP PBX should not implement any NAT traversal techniques Cisco Systems, Inc. 2 9/5/2007

3 Cbeyond VoIP Service Topology with LVS Cbeyond provides an Ethernet connection through which the customer connects PCs, Linksys SPA900 series IP Phones and the Linksys SPA9000 IP PBX. 4 Linksys Recommended LAN and VoIP Equipment LVS Network Diagram LAN Equipment RV042-10/100 4-Port VPN Router: The Linksys RV042 router is an advanced Internet-sharing network solution for your small business needs. Like any router, it lets multiple computers in your office share an Internet connection. But the unique dual Internet ports that, when used at the same time, let the router balance your office's requirements between them for maximum bandwidth efficiency or let you connect a second Internet line as a backup to insure that you're never disconnected. The RV042 also features a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Ethernet switch to connect four PCs directly, or you can connect more switches to create a bigger network. The Virtual Private Network (VPN) capability creates encrypted "tunnels" through the Internet, allowing up to 30 remote office or traveling users to securely connect into your office network from off-site. Users connecting through a VPN tunnel are attached to your company's network -- with secure access to files, e- mail, and your intranet -- just as if they were in the building. You can also use the VPN capability to allow users on your small office network to securely connect out to a corporate network. The RV042 can serve as a DHCP Server, and has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks. It can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet, and has IP address filtering so you can specify exactly who has access to your network. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. 5 existence of real-time traffic with data traffic allowing them each to meet their QoS needs. Individual users or applications can be prioritized above others using various Class of Service options - by port, layer 2 priority (802.1p), or Layer 3 priority (TOS or DSCP). Intelligent Broadcast and Multicast storm control minimizes and contain the effect of these types of traffic on regular traffic. IGMP Snooping limits bandwidth-intensive video traffic to only the requestors without flooding to all users. Incoming traffic can be policed allowing you to control network access and traffic flow. SRW208P - 8-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch with PoE: For smaller offices the SRW208P Ethernet switch will apply. The SRW208P supports IEEE802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet. With automatic load sensing, the power control circuitry automatically detects Power over Ethernet on end-device before providing power. Power feeding of Ethernet limited for fixed 10/100 Base-T/TX ports. The solution can provide maximum output power per PoE port up to 15.4W on 4 ports or 7.5W per PoE port on 8 ports simultaneously. SPA9000UPG SPA9000 License Key for System Capacity Expansion to Support 16 IP Phones: If the LVS implementation requires more than four (4) Linksys SPA900 series IP telephones to be used, a soft-upgrade in the form of a license key to the SPA9000 will be required. The SPA900UPG license key is obtained from the Linksys authorized partner and simply cut-and-pasted into the License Key parameter of the SPA9000 web GUI Provisioning page. 6 Optional VoIP Equipment: SPA400 - Internet Telephony Gateway with 4 FXO Ports: The SPA400 features the ability to connect up to four (4) standard analog telephones lines to a Linksys Voice System (LVS) VoIP network POES5 - Power over Ethernet Splitter for SPA901 / 921 / 941 / 9000 / 400: The POES5 provides an 802.3af PoE port for connection back to a PoE switch. The compact POES5 connects to the standard DC power input and RJ45 Ethernet port on the Linksys IP Phone (or other supported Linksys VoIP product) via two split cables. The POES5 can be then tucked away and concealed in the stand attached to the Linksys IP phone. MB100 - Wall Mount Bracket for SPA901 / 921 / 922 / 941 / 942 / 962 PA100-NA - Power Supply for SPA922 / 942 / 962 Cbeyond Service Installation for the Linksys SPA9000 In order to begin using the LVS system with Cbeyond s BeyondVoice with SIPconnect service, Cbeyond provides a number of parameter values that are required to be configured on the SPA9000 IP PBX. Please refer to the Linksys SPA9000 Administrator Guide for instructions on the configuration of any features or parameters not indicated by Cbeyond. In many cases, the installer will first use the SPA9000 configuration wizard to set-up SPA9000 IP PBX features. The below settings can be used in conjunction with the Wizard or set-up AFTER the Wizard has been used. The Wizard does not configure all settings as required by Cbeyond. Therefore, the SPA9000 administrative web server will need to be accessed to fully provision the service per Cbeyond requirements. Important Note: If the Wizard is used after the Cbeyond settings have been entered via the SPA9000 administrative web server, the settings will be over written by the Wizard and the non-default settings Cbeyond advises below will need to be re-entered. Some of the information for the installation can be found in the Cbeyond Install Profile documentation. The balance of the information for installation will be found in this section. Note: The Install Profile can be obtained from the Cbeyond customer portal found at: If you cannot locate the Install profile, please contact the Cbeyond Service Activation Manager, noted at the beginning of this guide. By using a hypothetical customer as an example, this section will illustrate how the parameter values provided by Cbeyond are entered into the SPA9000 via the web GUI by accessing the unit s administration web server. To access the SPA9000 administration web server, perform the following steps: Step 1: Launch a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the SPA9000 Internet (WAN) interface Cisco Systems, Inc. 6 9/5/2007

7 Step 2: Determine the IP address of the SPA9000 administration web server. a. Connect an analog telephone to the Phone 1 or Phone 2 port on the SPA9000. b. Press: * * * * on the keypad to access the IVR menu. c. Press: 110# to determine the Internet (WAN) IP address. Step 3: Direct the browser to the IP address of the SPA9000. Step 4: Select the Voice tab Step 4: Select Admin Step 5: Select Advanced Follow these steps every time you need to view or modify the SPA9000 settings via a browser. Hypothetical Customer Settings The example settings that will be used to illustrate the hypothetical customer set-up are as follows: Cbeyond SIPconnect Settings from Install Profile (or Provided by Cbeyond): SIPconnect Domain: sipconnect.den0.cbeyond.net PBX Username: PBX Password: Trunk Group DIDs: This is found in the Trunk Group Information section of the Install Profile. Voic Access Number: This is the number that the customer s employees will use to access voic . If using the SPA400 as a voic server, do not use the following parameter configuration. Please refer to the Linksys SPA9000 Administrator Guide for instruction. 11 Linksys SPA900 Series Phone Settings for Cbeyond Service The Phone Dial Plan Remove instances of digit manipulation (ie. <:1>) that will attempt to normalize the dialed number to an E.164 format by pre-pending a 1 or 1NPA. The number should be passed to Cbeyond as dialed with the exception of removing any access codes, vertical service codes or other prefixes that should not be passed to Cbeyond.
