3 SCHOOL UNFORM With the exception of trousers and skirts all school uniform is supplied by the school, both at the start for the new intake and throughout the school year. Girls Plain navy skirt (of sensible length) or black tailored trousers (NO JEANS) White polo shirt with school badge tucked in. Navy round-necked sweatshirt or hooded sweatshirt with the school badge on the front. No alternative sweatshirt is acceptable. Black shoes with sensible heels (NO CANVAS SHOES) No training shoes are allowed Hair: to be neat and acceptable. Inappropriately coloured hair is not allowed. Boys Black school-type trousers White polo shirt with school badge tucked in. Navy round-necked sweatshirt or hooded sweatshirt with the school badge on the front. No alternative sweatshirt is acceptable. Black shoes (NO CANVAS SHOES) No training shoes are allowed Hair: to be neat and acceptable. Inappropriately coloured hair is not allowed. All Pupils On the grounds of health and safety the only jewellery that is appropriate for school are stud earrings and a watch. Earrings can be a safety hazard in PE lessons and whilst moving around the school. Body piercing is potentially hazardous and pupils will be required to remove the item in question or cover it with a plaster. Inappropriate hair styles could lead to an exclusion. Extreme hair colouring will not be tolerated. No cosmetics allowed Denim jackets are inappropriate and must not be worn to school. Trainers and canvas shoes are not allowed. Mobiles may be brought to school at the pupil s own risk. They should be turned off at all times. Inappropriate jewellery can be confiscated, placed in a sealed envelope and returned to pupils at a designated time, usually at the end of the day. 4 Trainers for indoor use or on hard surfaces Royal blue athletics vest or plain white t-shirt Swimming trunks and a towel Outdoor Clothes A raincoat, anorak or school fleece in navy, grey or black is recommended. Gaudily coloured coats, hooded tops or sports coats with brand logos are not allowed either as indoor or outdoor wear. All garments must be marked with the owner s name. Our prices are low; the garments are of a very high quality and are available throughout the year. We are the sole suppliers of the school uniform. We do not offer this service to make a profit, but to ensure all the children have exactly the same uniform. Jewellery is NOT allowed in school. Hair must be an acceptable length and colour. Facial and body piercings are not allowed. The school s decision on uniform is final. If parents are concerned about whether a particular item/style is suitable they should contact the Head of Year for advice BEFORE buying or sending the child to school. We believe that school uniform gives a sense of belonging and helps to create a proper working atmosphere. We also believe that having a school uniform makes it easier for parents to see that their children are dressed appropriately each day. School uniform also helps the school ensure the safety of all pupils. Parents can purchase approved school uniform direct from the school and it is available throughout the year. These are all badged items and are listed on the order forms. These items are only available from the school. Alternatives are not permitted. Parents are free to purchase non-badged items wherever they wish these items are shirts, blouses, trousers (both boys and girls) and skirts. Uniform Grants Parents eligible for a uniform grant should not wait for the grant to arrive but attend the main uniform sale and the items required will be kept until such time as the grant is awarded. We ask all parents and carers to support the school uniform policy and we believe that parents and carers have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork. Parents and carers should ensure that their child has the correct uniform. If, for any good reason, a pupil is unable to wear the correct school uniform or completely black footwear, we ask that parents contact the school to inform us of the reason for this. Where we have received no correspondence from parents and a child arrives at school not wearing the correct uniform/footwear or with facial or body piercings, he/she may be asked to return home and change into the correct uniform. Parents will be informed of this request and pupils will be expected to return to school immediately their uniform/footwear/piercings have been changed or removed.
